The Artisan Childcare Center provides high quality childcare with an emphasis on the arts for children 3 months to 5 years old. We offer a uniquely balanced curriculum that embraces the natural curiosity of childhood, while introducing children to the creative learning process through exposure to developmentally appropriate arts programming.

Meet the Manager

Mabel L.

Manager

My name is Mabel Luther and I am the Program Director at Artisan Childcare Center. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from Tufts University and a Master of Arts in Child Development and Family Studies. I have been with Artisan since it opened in September of 2009. I started as the lead teacher in the toddler age group and have since been appointed as director of our program.

My wife and I are very pleased with the care and personalized attention he receives at the Newton location of Artisan. He’s 2 years old and wakes up asking to go to school. He’s learned so much and loves the music classes. The staff is caring, friendly, and knowledgable about early childhood education. The building is newly renovated — charming and perfectly suited for children. And the location is very convenient. What a find!

A couple weeks back they had an outbreak of conjunctivities — you’d think all sick kids stay home. Nope — a pre-​school girl several days back was leaving home with pus drooling from her eyes. She spent the whole day in school. Teacher was telling parents how she’s been wiping it off all day. I wonder how many kids will be sick again.

My husband and I are very pleased with the care our son receives at the Artisan. Most of all, he goes there happily in the morning and is somewhat sad to leave in the afternoon, which only shows how much he truly enjoys his time there. The teachers are warm and well prepared. They give us a full and HONEST report of how his day was and are genuinely interested in his physical and emotional development. Ms Myra, the Director, is very understanding and easy to talk to. Our son is particularly fond of Ms Nona, the music teacher, as he loves to play with the musical instruments she brings to the center and to perform the songs she teaches. We would recommend this place to all parents looking for a safe, clean, caring and educational environment for their children.
