Was excited to try this place since it took over The River that was originally there. First thing the food was just terrible. I ordered the tomato bisque and it was if I had asked someone with no cooking experience to cook it. What I was given was warm tomato sauce. It was like puréed tomatoes from a can, no cream or anything. Gross. I don’t usually return food but I had to so then I figured to try the lobster bisque, another mistake. Flavor was burnt and not one piece of lobster. I would never go back. Don’t put food on your menu you can’t cook.

I came here for lunch and really enjoyed it! My french onion soup was great. The chicken marsala was a little over cooked but the sauce was really great and saved it. Their beer list was better than I had anticipated & most of all the service was excellent.

Zuppa opened up sometime in December of LASTYEAR, and theres those bad reviews just 1 to 2 months later, and thats just UNFAIR. Its now been almost a year and they have obviously become more polished because the wine selection is excellent, the food is the best on Wolcott rd(id even include the rest of wolcott and bristol), and the staff is so friendly! This small restaurant is owned by a very large family, and it doesnt take much time sitting at the bar to find that out as you become surrounded by family members. The owners are brother and sister, and the brother is the chef. They each have a 20-something year old bartending Saturday nights and theyre just characters. Shes just so adorable, he has a curly handlebar moustache, and theyre both very knowledgeable behind the bar for thier age! I havent tried any food YET but i saw some dishes pass by that looked amazing! I love craft beer and they specialize in connecticut and new england beers only.

We have been here a couple of times and the food was AMAZING. I even brought my husband back the second time because he enjoyed the leftovers so much he had to have his own.

HOLYMOLY is all I can say just had a pork chop with melted Gorgonzola on it. People I do not rant and rave about food but this chop melted in my mouth. This place is a must!!!

I went to Zuppa’s on Friday the 13th with my husband and parents. We were seated right away as we had a dinner reservation for 5:15. The woman on the phone had mentioned there would be a large party coming in around 5:30 see wanted to make sure we were there before they arrived as we were going to an event at the Palace. There is not a lot to choose from, the menu being one page. We started with the calamari which was lukewarm and average. My father and I had the chicken parm which was on the bland side and rubbery. My husband got the macaroni and cheese with shrimp and sundried tomatoes which was on the soupy side. My mother had a chicken dish with a brown sauce which was okay. We will not be returning. People who were seated after us and who had ordered us were receiving their meals before us. It took over an hour for us to receive our food.

When with my wife about a month ago. Food was average, Calamari was good. I thought the service was normal. Really nothing to rave about. I will probably be back again just to see if they improve. I like to eat locally.

We could not wait to write this review. My wife and I went here for dinner tonight. We ordered drinks which were good. Our appetizer was the crab cakes and they were average. I order the beer battered cajun chicken and it was like a rubber chicken. My husband ordered chicken parm with a side of what came to be rice-a-roni. The chicken parm wasn’t even up to par. Im sorry but if you cant cook chicken up to any kind of standard then i don’t want to try anything else. We will never go back! The only good thing about this place was the bartender’s charlie chaplin mistache. And we still paid over $ 100, which is infuriating.

Last night we dined here as a group of twelve. From start to finish, this establishment fell short of hitting the mark. The wine list and menu were limited. The service was VERY slow and inattentive. In her defense, we were a large group and fairly demanding, but 10 – 15 min to receive cocktails is unacceptable. As we sat and waited for drinks, and 45 minutes for our entrees, the staff congregated at the end of the bar in full view of our thirsty and hungry party which added to our frustration. As for the food… The appetizers were average with the fried calamari being the best. The entrees were were an appropriate size for the price, but also average. Nothing here stood out or would make anyone return Overall, a C– would be the grade here.

Went with a large group very recently. Menu very limited and not unique at all. Items on special list were not available due to them running out. Wine list is extremely weak and their stock was depleted. Apps and food were at best ok. Service was horrendous. Plenty of staff available but not very attentive and gathered in area at left if bar. Not one in our group will be back.

I really wanted to like this place. Stopped by for some drinks at the bar after dinner elsewhere and it was pretty quiet for a Fri night. We were immediately greeted and the bartender was very nice. Took a look at the menu and food did look good. My husband ordered a draft beer, which came out very foamy. Instead of the bartender offering my husband another choice, the bartender(in front of us) stirred and mixed his beer to get rid of the foam. Needless to say, it ended up being flat. The rest of our night consisted of hearing the staff gossip about various people and things from their personal life, and watching three separate staff members openly eat from behind the bar, which for me, was the biggest turnoff. Other staff openly were on their phones behind the bar, and at least four times, different girls went into the closet(which is directly next to the bar) and were in their purses and on their phones. I don’t know a lot about running a business, but having worked in restaurants and bars and having a family business in catering, the staff presented themselves as unprofessional. You shouldn’t eat behind the bar or in the open, you shouldn’t be on your phones, and you shouldn’t be gossiping. Hopefully this was just an off night, I’d really like to see this place stick around. I cant say I’d come back though.

Amazing food is how to describe this new find ! We had the lobster bisque, a MUST try and the baked clams, wonderful. We eat out 4 – 5 days a week and travel near and far for new finds. I am a meatball freak so of course we ordered a side of meatballs. These meatballs are the best in the STATE of CT without a question. We had a pasta dish with fresh pasta, a light Alfredo sauce, peas and pancetta. Not a dish I would normally order but it was sooo good! My husband had the fish special which he just loved. Second the rice pudding, to die for, I was going to lick the martini glass it came in just not to leave a drop behind. My husband ordered the tiramisu, unbelievable. We were talking to a couple next to us at the end of dinner who had a stuffed chicken dish and a veal dish and they were raving about how wonderful everything was. Worth the drive… We made reservations for New Years Eve
