I had Franklin repair some drywall work for my home. He was very responsive whether it was through phone or email. He gave a good quote and completed the work in a timely manner.

I hired another painter based on online reviews at yahoo and because it is advertised as a vet-owned business. However, they ended up subcontracting the project out to FJS and Son. Here are the highlights: showing up w/o paint then leaving for 1.5 hours to go get it, not patching small holes or painting a ceiling despite the contract stating that was included(when I pointed this out, I got audible sighs before they went back & i still found 3 unpatched holes), & rushing on the last day to finish up w/o using any sort of edging or tape so there are wavy lines at the trim, molding & on shower tiles. The worst was the lying: none of the areas behind the toilets were painted! I asked them to paint back there & was flat out told it was not possible w/o removing the toilets. Way too many smoke breaks and personal cell phone calls(one of which ended in yelling and kicking something). They wanted my keys to come early since we had not fully moved in yet, but no smart person would give any of these guys copies of their keys. My husband & I spent the days re-edging & guess what, I got a long skinny paint brush & easily painted behind the toilets! I am still finding mistakes in edging in various rooms, and proof that they did not do two coats in each room as promised. This was a $ 4000 job, so we are very disappointed. STAYAWAY. FARAWAY. I wish I knew I was getting these guys rather than who I had hired(RL Toughs, so don’t use them either bc they contract out to guys like this).

DONOTHIRETHESEGUYSTHEYAREVERYSHADY! I first had them do some dry wall work and that went well so I wanted them to do some grout work on two of my bathrooms. The father came and gave me a price to completely take out the grout on one shower and floor as the wrong grout had been used, and he said he would use some tool to remove some of the grout on the other shower and touch up the floor. He told me this would take him two eight hour days for a total of sixteen hours. Well, being a female and having renters living with me, I was not comfortable giving him a key to my house as I work full time so I had my mom stay at the house and give him ½ the money up front for the first day and was going to give him the rest on the second day. Well, the story had completely changed when he showed up. On the second bathroom he told my mom we agreed on only touching up the 2nd bathroom which was not the case. I told him to just finish the first bathroom as I had a new renter moving in and needed that bathroom usable. They left well before 5 p.m. so it didn’t take him anywhere 8 hours to do the first bathroom which was the one that needed the grout completely removed. Not only that, but when my mom asked when they were going to seal it he said that was not part of the agreement! Now if I had no experience with home improvement I would have had no idea that this needed to be done. When I hire someone to do a job for me, as the professional you expect them to do the ENTIRE job, not just part of the job! The grouting job itself was fine, expect for the fact that I had to wash the film off the tiles and seal it myself. You just really have to watch them like a hawk and if you are a female forget it, they will take advantage of you. They will always show up on time, which will make you think they are trustworthy but beware and get it in writing — both of which they told me they would do and never brought this them.
