Joe Moholland Moving

I would strongly caution you against hiring Moholland. We had an extremely negative experience with them. Their employees damaged one of our high value items during an unpack and then lied about it. Caught him red handed, on video no less. The people they use are generally unprofessional and cannot be trusted in your house even with intense supervision. Management was not very helpful in resolving the situation, despite repeated calls. Had to go through a drawn out claims process to be reimbursed for the item they damaged. Google reviews of this company and you will see many negative reviews detailing unprofessional service.

Movers are extremely slow, do not care about others personal property/​belongings, rude, lack common sense/​courtesy (using the customers bathroom on multiple occasions– and not just to urinate), and don’t care to think to use sufficient (other than paper & cardboard) packing matériel for mirrors/​fragile times. They were a contracted company w/​the military and took over 6 hours to pack a 1bedroom (less than 750 sq ft)! 90% of the apt was already packed prior to their arrival. Let’s just hope my property isn’t damaged :)

Highly recommend Moholland Moving company, and in particular the on site workers. A crew of three took very good care of my HHE as they packed, loaded and crated it. They began with a heads-​up call, arrived at the agreed hour, went to work immediately, and never stopped until everything was dispatched to my satisfaction. All three were professional, courteous, accommodating and gave me absolute confidence that my shipment would be handled well. I was impressed enough with Dave, Chase and Ivan that I have requested them for the second part of my move.

Poor communication and hidden fees at the end of the process (when you would least expect them). Stay away from this moving service. THEY WILL SCAM YOU and tell you that its your fault.
after meeting my agent he told me that he would be in contact with me during the entire process. We never spoke again after that meeting. I made several phone calls and emails and he never responded once.
after being transferred to a new agent, he just blamed everything on the first guy and told me his «hands were tied»
now they want an additional $ 1100 from me before the house hold items reach the destination.
I expected better from what I thought was a professional company.
they also give no refunds, discounts, or anything. seems pretty unfair that they can change the rules in the middle of the process.

Pros:
— Pre-​moving quote was accurate.
— Movers showed up on time and finished on time.
So far nothing was lost.
Cons:
— The movers… one of them was very nice and worked well. Of the other two, one (the lead mover) was kind of rude. The other mover was saying he wasn’t even supposed to have been there and he wasn’t going to get paid for that move, but he was going to stay anyway (probably working on his tip before the move had even started!).
— A dresser broke and after submitting a claim and calling Mayflower 4 times to find out the status of my claim, I still haven’t heard back from them (even though Vic from claims promised someone was going to call me back).
This company represents Mayflower in this area. My overall experience… I probably wouldn’t move again with Mayflower.

Willie and his crew were simply amazing. I recommend them to everyone who’s moving soon. They did a cross country move for me in 6 days. It was brilliant.

I researched many moving companies prior to my long distance move from Maryland to San Diego. In my furnishings I had many family antiques and was concerned about making sure they were packed well and survived the trip without damage. Joe Moholland Moving accomplished all that I wanted with accurate pricing of the move from Diane, outstanding customer service from Shelley and Tyrone (both of them always called me back immediately with answers to my questions), from the great work of the packing crew to the movers themselves. At every step along the way I felt that I had a team of experienced professionals whose goal it was to make sure my move was successful and smooth. This company did what they said they would do. I would highly recommend them.

We are military, so we have moved a lot over the past twenty years. This is the fastest and best moving company we have encountered, hands down, domestically. They packed our 2800 sq. foot house with full unfinished basement in a day! That’s the fastest ever! Normally it takes three days for most companies. They were clean, efficient, careful, and professional. I would recommend them without hesitation. Military saved the best for last for us, I guess.

We were extremely happy with the professional and efficient ladies from J. Moholland Moving today. I’ve moved many times in the military and this is the fastest we’ve ever had our stuff packed. A 5 bedroom house in one day, in the heat of a Washington, D.C. summer. Thank you Francesca, Reina, and Jackie for a great job!

Paid $ 7000 for this company to move me to Georgia.
Moving coordinator was nice, but their packers did a sh*t job.
Found items shoved inside of wardrobe packs with clothes. Idiots packed an open container of Comet cleaning powder in with items, ended up with powder all over everything. We had items in storage off-​site from our apartment, crew that came to pick up those items had no packing materials, though it was noted there were items that would need to be packed. Also ended up with items missing and items that didn’t even belong to us.
If you’re looking for movers, you could do better.

This moving company was the worst I’ve ever had to move my belongings. I was constantly on the phone with the moving coordinator during the packing of my belonging to plead with them to send another crew. (I’ve moved 8 times in 6 years I’m pretty sure by now I know what’s going to make it and what’s not.) Not to mention the terrible job they did of inventorying my belongings. Because of all their inconsistencies it’s cost us over 2,500 dollars in damage. They only paid us 326 dollars! Because the idiots would not listen to me and did not put my electronics on the High Value Items or on the inventory sheets.
All I could do was cry when all my beautiful hand crafted items from Morocco had been smashed to pieces. I traveled through THREE different countries and they made it safe to the U.S. in one piece. This company packed my belongings in Stafford, VA drove to Pensacola, FL destroying everything I specify told them to be careful with.
If you have belongings that are irreplaceable DO NOT use this company!!! They will cheat you anyway they can.

My husband and I recently relocated from the DC area to Denver. We had to go through one of the national lines, and after much searching I figured they were all pretty much terrible. I was not expecting to be pleased with my experience at all. In the end, we chose the cheapest quote, which was from Mayflower, and they sent us to Joe Molholland Moving.
My husband did the majority of the pre-​pack logistics, so I cannot speak for him but he gave every indication of having no issues with that process.
The day of our move came, and it had snowed heavily the night before. We were scheduled to pack on one day and move the next. The movers were scheduled to arrive at 8am, and by 9am we had a phone call saying they would not be able to make it due to the weather. We were worried they would not be able to complete the move on time but they assured us they could pack and load our two bedroom apartment in one day.
The next day, the movers showed up, a two-​person team, and I got a bit worried — until I saw them working. They were lightning fast packing and boxing — obvious professionals. And they weren’t being careless with my things either — in fact, I think they wrapped far more than they needed to, but I won’t complain.
In about an hour and a half, a three-​man team arrived. They were the furniture and loading crew. They were cheerful and very quick, and had obviously worked together for a while (with so many places hiring day laborers it was nice to see some camaraderie).
Start to finish, they had our entire 2 bedroom packed from top to bottom, wrapped and loaded in the truck in five hours. I was amazed. And when our goods arrived, there was very little damage (there was a chip on a bookshelf that came from Target so, whatever, I’ll replace it. If that’s all that’s wrong, I’ll take it.).
I highly recommend this company. I didn’t think it was possible for a move to go so well.

I used Joe Moholland Mayflower for a move from Washington DC to the Midwest. We used their full services including packing our condo, loading and unloading the truck and driving cross-​country. I was completely satisfied with their services and can highly recommend them based on my experience.
I worked with two staff people to get a quote and arrange the details of the move. They were responsive to my many inquiries and changes as we finalized our plans.
The packing took place on a Friday. Three workers worked for 5 or 6 hours to pack our apartment. They were courteous while in the house and did a good job communicating to be sure they understood what was being packed or not. They labeled boxes based on location and general contents (I would have been happy with greater specificity in this labeling but it worked out fine). The packing was extremely thorough and nothing at all was broken in the move. I believe the boxes could have sustained some real damage and survived intact because of how well-​wrapped each item was. This was one of my chief concerns as I have 2 sets of china, including my great-grandmother’s antique set and crystal along with everyday dishware. The packers numbered each box with a unique code for our move and created a corresponding paper inventory.
The next day 4 men came to load the truck. Because I lived on a narrow street they loaded a «shuttle» which was then transferred to a large truck to drive to the Mdiwest. Again, I was impressed with the polite and courteous crew. They worked quickly and carefully to move everything out without damaging the furniture, boxes or the walls. They disassembled the furniture and added each individual item to the inventory so that nothing would be lost in transit.
The truck arrived on schedule and I had the same experience with the unloading of our belongings.
My only complaint is that I thought the communication about the day my goods would arrive could have been better. (They give you a range of dates and promise to advise you once they know when they will arrive. I had to call to get the exact date and would have liked to been pro-​actively notified. The truck driver — who was great — indicated that this is the protocol and was surprised it hadn’t happened).
it was not a cheap move but I was happy to work with a company who has good systems in place to ensure that the move happens correctly and, most importantly, delivered my things in good condition.
