Kadie Kalos Braiding & Styling

I have on and off for the last 6 years and always leave happy. I have tried many different styles and have transitioned from relaxed to natural. They have gone through many different braided but there are some that are always there throughout the years. They always have open appointments and get me in and out looking like a queen.

First time at shop! I had a great experience. I made an appointment prior to going to shop so didn’t really have any issues with getting started on time. The owner was sure to keep everyone on task and schedule. Everyone there was very personable and welcoming. Shout out to team «V»!!! You know who you are! These two young ladies will surely have you leaving looking fly:) See you in a couple of months!

Very disappointed. I will begin with the staff and Kadi herself; very friendly and conversational. I have been to this shop for 2 different styles on 2 different occassions and never had to wait.
HOWEVER, the first time I came I got a sew-​in. I provided a picture of a simple straight hair style with a layered front and the style I ended up with was NOT at all like the picture. Kadi did not style my hair at all, no layers, no curls/​bump, nothing. It took a while for my hair to be done (as expected) so I just dismissed the fact that it wasn’t the look I asked for and settled on making the cuts myself.
My most recent visit has to be the most disturbing. I sent a text message directly to Kadi for scheduling and texted a picture of the length of my hair and inquired whether or not I would be able to get Senegalese Twists. She responded with an appointment time and texted come on in. Took 6hr and 45 mins with 2 young ladies working on my hair (again, the length of time it took I expected). I get home and realize that the back twists were significantly larger than the ones in the front; which were done by a different young lady whom Kadi herself questioned as to whether or not she could even do twists. Kadi had her do a sample one on my head just to see if she could do it.
I sent a text thanking them for their service and acknowledging the friendliness of the staff, but made mention that the twists in the back were larger, and requested to have them retwisted. I received no response.
The following day was Sunday and then I travelled out of town for the holidays. I called again after 24 twists had just slipped right out and a few more had unravelled altogether. Kadi told me to come in as soon as I returned– which I took off work to do. I expressed my displeasure and was retorted back with «well, your hair is too short, the twists in the back are not going to stay, you should’ve known your hair was too short etc». At that point I was LIVID.
I am not a professional hair stylist and I don’t claim to be. I have never had individual anything in my head before which is why I asked the question to begin with as to whether or not the style could be done. It is YOUR responsibility as the professional to let your clients know if you are able to do the style they requested. I do not value dishonest business; and I feel taken advantage of. I am pleased that they retwisted my hair… but one day later I have already had another one fall out. Definitely not worth my $ 221 (not including tip)
Kadi ranted in my silence to other employees the 20 years she’s been in business and how she’s not going to do twists anymore (which is great news) because too many people complain. If people are complaining, it may be a good idea to rethink your method.
SN: I have never seen Senegalese Twists that were braided at the top, but YES mine are — I didn’t even bother to ask why.
I will never return. EVER and I advise anyone with common sense to do the same.

I will not go back to this shop. I do not appreciate waiting for 2 hours while the stylist finishes somebody else’s hair. This happened to me many times at this shop. The last time I was supposed to go was the last straw for me. I called before I arrived and found out that the owner had the nerve to schedule another client for tree braids one hour before I arrived. I took off time from work to get my hair done, and this is what I got in return. I decided to go to a different shop to get my hair done because I refuse to give my money to people who waist my time. The owner said that she would do my hair, but I have never seen her do tree-​braids. There are not a lot of people who can do this particular style well. If it were regular braids I may have accepted the offer, but this technique can be difficult for some. If you are not careful, your weave will be on the floor before the end of the week.
Most African American women know, everybody cannot do hair, so we will only go to certain people. This is not just a quick style, this is tree braids, and it costs a lot of money! I canceled my appointment and the owner got an attitude. She ended up firing the braider that I had an appointment with the next day because she felt like it was wrong for me to cancel my appointment. She said that she (the braider) was holding the clients «hostage «. I really don’t know why the owner would have an attitude, maybe its a cultural thing. If I make an appointment with a particular stylist, then that is the only person I will accept point blank. You will not be waisting my precious time and money.

I went to this place for many years. After a while the quality declined with the better braiders leaving the shop. The owner is a wonderful lady who actually came to the hospital when I was there for a few months to freshen up my braids and do my eyebrows. She is loving and remembers all her clients. She always is fair and I stayed loyal for longer because of this. The last time I went the braiders were complaining that they had been working for too long and were tired. The braids were not put in well.
I hope that Ms. Kadi gets braiders that care and are more serious about the service they provide.
