Kohr Bros. Frozen Custard

Well, now, someone with a dairy issue doesn’t usually eat at a frozen custard stand, I realize. However, I was at the mall and the person with me wanted a frozen custard cone. Kohr Bros. was conveniently located so I tagged along and saw that they featured a «Crusin’ Smoothie» menu — and had specifically listed «Non-​Dairy Smoothies.» Nice! On the menu it lists: Fruit, signature ice blend, & choice of 100% apple or orange juice. That sounded pretty good to me, so I chose the strawberry-​banana non-​dairy smoothie. I double-​checked with the server that no dairy was added. She said, «No.» Then, in the next breath, she says, «Do you want whipped cream with that?» Ummm… nope, none for me — that’s a dairy product. She said, «Oh, I didn’t even know whipped cream was dairy.» YIKES. Anyway, the other server did not wear gloves when she prepared the smoothie… she may not have actually touched the banana that went in the blender, but ewoooo anyway. The strawberries were this cut-​up mix of strawberries and maybe water? Not fresh. I call back to the girl actually making the smoothie, «Could I have apple juice, please?» She says, «No, we use water.» Well, why is there «choice of juice» listed on the menu? So anyway, I did get my smoothie… it was okay… nothing to write home about and certainly not someplace I will visit in the future.
