The Spa At Willows Lodge

This spa is top-​notch for the quality of its services and its beautiful surroundings. Before the raves, here is the minus in case it matters to you:
There are plenty of shower rooms but no lavish separate locker room/​sauna/​hot tub/​relaxation room — it’s a small spa.
Also there is an outdoor hot tub — in a beautifully gardened fenced setting. In the hot tub you may be with both men and women and in a bathing suit. It’s not crowded and the outdoor setting is a nice change.
I mention these things so you won’t be expecting a Golden Door or Miraval like spa with a huge ladies only space to hang out for hours in a relaxation area where you can jump in and out of a hot tub or sauna wearing nothing, or nothing but a towel.
All right on with the raves. Arrive half an hour early if you can and tour the hotel grounds. They are stunning, with beautiful landscaping, unusual ancient wood artifacts, and an herb and flower farm which also contains two cute pigs, Basil and Borage, that are being trained as truffle hunters. If you have time it’s the perfect way to take an aaaah break to start your experience.
When you enter the spa, instead of cucumber water you have the option of champagne or a mimosa in the waiting room. My husband and I were celebrating an anniversary so we were happy to have champagne!
Onward, the experience was of a top-​notch spa with a couple of wrinkles that made it above average. I had a facial with Juli who customized it and made suggestions that I have not heard before. She was not pushing product hard either which was a nice change. Afterwards my skin was noticeably better and I did buy one product which I have continued to use. It’s made a meaningful difference to improve my dry sensitive skin. This is noteworthy as everything else I’ve tried, including from dermatologists, made a difference when you put it on, but 24 hours later my skin was not fundamentally changed. My husband also had a men’s facial and he loved her too.
Next I had a deep tissue massage. I can’t remember the therapist’s name which is appalling because she was OUTSTANDING and I have had this service many times, in various places around the country and the world. I am very judgy and picky about massages. Afterwards I could move my head in a full range of motion which is not typical after hours on the computer. She got my neck unkinked better than others have and also taught me a couple of stretches. If you make an appointment and want deep tissue I’m sure you will be happy.
I’ll be back and see both her and Juli again, for sure. My husband likes a more relaxed Swedish style and he was very pleased with his massage too.
We had an excellent lunch at the Barking Frog afterwards … take note, during the spring/​summer/​early fall it can be harder to get a reservation at the Barking Frog than at the spa, so book ahead.

I treated my Mom and myself for a Facial and a Massage during the Mother’s Day weekend. When booking for the appointment, I just asked for a massage and a facial and didn’t specify a particular service. Having done so, I was expecting the basic service from their menu. The person making the reservation never once indicated that they have a Mother’s Day special which was priced significantly higher than their basic prices published online. When I saw the final amount, I was in for a shock. I paid more than $ 100 more than what I was initially expecting. The person who did my Mom’s facial went on to provide an even more expensive facial with an add-​on without consulting with mom about the price. Agreed it was a treat for my Mom, but had she known that these were add on services, she would have never consented. I followed up giving them feedback and how I felt manipulated. The person who did the facial offered nothing more than an apology. I asked for a credit of $ 50 given the lack of transparency in their dealings, to which I was told that the therapist didn’t have the authority and will need the spa to get back to me. And surprise, they never did. I will never return to this place. Even though the service was good, transparency around price for the services being offered is key for a good business and they missed sorely. At the end of the day, I felt cheated.

I spent a few delightful hours here last weekend as part of a baby shower and can’t wait to come back. For starters, it’s next to Redhook Brewery which was always one of my favorite places to eat, drink and hang on the eastside. Then, after we checked in and filled out some paperwork, we changed into fluffy robes and were handed mimosas. We spent a little bit of time in the outdoor soaking tub before our services and then I was whisked off for a hot stone massage. At $ 140 for 50 minutes, that’s more I’ve ever paid but the luxe surroundings and being around my bestest lady friends made it more than worth it! I came in with a kink in my neck and was worked on thoroughly, after being asked what I’d prefer to have focused on, leaving me with full range of motion afterward which was amazing because I could barely tilt, twist or turn that morning. The oiled hot rocks felt great, and were used not only in place on certain areas, but also as part of the massage in others, which felt almost like warm wax being poured on me, in a good way.
My friends enjoyed prenatal massages and microderm facials and all were happy. Afterward, we had another glass of champagne (fancy fruit-​filled mojito-​like mocktails for the mamas to be) and killed another hour in the gorgeous hot tub outside. A friend ordered breakfast which was brought to her while seated around the tub, and her fresh fruit and chocolate croissant looked delicious. We used their multiple private bathrooms and shower rooms (all stocked with Molton Brown products) to clean up and then headed to a delicious brunch at the Barking Frog. The package spa deals here look quite fabulous and while spendy, are practically buy two services, get one free, so I’ll be spending more time here on my next visit. All I could think about during my massage was what other excuses I could come up with to treat myself here… I’d never really had a spa day before this visit and could surely get used to it!
Also, shout out to the front desk at Willows Lodge (connected to the spa) for giving me a toothbrush and toothpaste upon my arrival, which I’d forgotten to bring on my trip out from CO :)

Great spa day! Super nice ladies and delicious lunch from the Barking Frog. All my treatments were fantastic and my skin feels amazing! I will definitely be back!

My daughter treated me to a facial with Dinah at the Spa at Willows. It was the best facial I have ever had. Dinah explained to me what she was doing each step of the way, which I appreciated. She included a dermabrasion treatment and I could see the difference in the texture and tone of my skin after the facial. We had a very relaxing afternoon, enjoyed the hot tub and then music and appetizers at the Barking Frog afterwards. It has been over a week since my visit and I can still see and feel the difference it made.

This spa has super friendly staff, a nice atmosphere, and a great menu of services. It’s really relaxing to go here, especially with the great lodge and Barking Frog right nearby. The thing this spa doesn’t have is locker rooms for changing and securing your stuff, and it only has a co-​ed steam room. I’ve had only good experiences here, but I do really wish it had these additional things!

Its hard to know how to review this because I received 2 services. A massage and then a pedicure.
I would highly recommend the massage. My masseuse was named Shauna and she was wonderful. I would request her again.
I would NOT recommend the pedicure. It seemed a little half-​assed if you ask me. Putting your feet into large metal mixing bowls felt odd. The color I picked was apparently old, and I could tell she was having issues putting it on. I had requested the Spa Pedicure with the paraffin, but it never appeared. It was not a pedicure worth $ 50. No Way. After 5 hours the polish was still wet and tacky. A sure sign that it was too old. The next morning it had come off on my sheets and I had to remove all the polish. I voiced my concern via email to the Spa. They offered to book me another Pedicure. No Thank you. More mixing bowls and old polish? I think not.

i had a very nice time here. we were a party of 6 and i had a facial with julie and a pedicure. my pedicure was great — she listened to exactly what i wanted and was very sweet and friendly. julie gave me an excellent facial. i’m not big on facials but i get one about once a year because i know they’re good for getting tired skin out of a rut. she tailored it perfectly to my skin and talked to me about simple ways i can mix up my routine to solve some issues. she sent me home with samples of products she recommends without any hard sell.
if you have some money to spend, i highly recommend this spa! follow it with a meal at barking frog and you’ve got an amazing day.

Visited in Feb 2012 to celebrate my cousin’s Bday. I have visited a lot of spas around the world and this place is mediocre. I wont visit again. The low stars are due to
1) overbooking
2) services being cut short
3) untrained front desk personnel
4) being overcharged
5) amenities or lack thereof
As it relates to overbooking — I went on a Sat. There were too many people running in and out of the place that it felt more like grand central station vs a spa. My therapist started late with my service and her comment was– oh it’s just 5min– which leads me to services.
My service was schedule for 75min. But it was cut short because my therapist was running late. My cousin who scheduled a 90 min massage only got 70 min. The response was — well I have to get to my next customer. Note we were not late we were 30min early
Which brings me to the untrained front desk personnel. My cousin and I arrived early. The woman at the front desk admitted she didn’t know what to do so she ushered us to some stacked baskets for our belongings and went about her business. What we learned later is that we should have been given paperwork to fill out.
Furthermore I was overcharged $ 130 for services that was discovered later. It took about 1 Hr for the front desk to figure out how to give me a credit.
As far as the amenities. No changing room or lockers. You change in unisex bathrooms. And your belongings are left unattended on a shelf. The place is also small so the «relaxation» room was also the waiting room. I was in my robe trying to relax as people flowed in and out of the room. I should also mention the 10 year old unattended minor who was playing video games and had a loud cell phone ringing regularly.
Tea was good but the only other thing was candy (the mixed bag of peppermints butterscotch etc that u get from Costco) in a spa? It’s in Washington how about some apples?
The highlight of my visit was Thuy for the pedicure. If I could just rate her she is a 4. And the subsequent food at barking frog.
I am still expecting a reimbursement for the time I was cheated out of for our services… Bad business!

I have been here several times for facials, massages & their detox body wrap. I had an amazing experience every time. (Tea Ball Massage? Yes Please!!)
I love the products they use for facials.
Go early to your appointment and soak in the warm pool or sauna. Oh yeah, Take advantage of wine tasting in the area!

I have a gift certificate to Willows Lodge, so I went for an hour long massage today. It was one of the best massages I’ve had. My masseuse, Heidi, was very professional and checked in frequently to make sure that the pressure was ok. I’ve had some bad massages in the past at other places where the pressure was either too hard or too soft. Soothing music played, the massage lotion smelled great, and she put some ‘detoxing’ serum on my face that smelled amazing. She brought me plenty of water after my massage to keep me hydrated. The table was heated; a nice touch. Afterward, I used the outdoor tub that is just the right hot temperature to lounge in but not as overwhelmingly hot as a jacuzzi. I sunned myself on the lounge chairs for awhile, and then came inside to use the shower, which has wonderful smelling body products and even hair dryers and such for you to use. All the while, I got to use a fluffy white bathrobe and slippers. All and all, a very nice experience.

My husband and I spent our wedding night at Willow’s Lodge and had a couples massage the morning after.
The atmosphere at the spa was very relaxing. We were given our massages in the couples room which was very comfortable. There was no pressure to spend more on smelly lotions or anything, though it was made available.
I am not very experienced on receiving massages but the massage therapists gave simple and gentle instruction when needed.
This was the perfect way to relax after spending months planning the wedding and days overwhelmed with family and emotions. It was perfect to relax our way into our honeymoon.

I am a tourism shopper and stopped into Willows Lodge to see the staff and get a massage. I was greatly disappointed by everything except the massage itself.
The hot tub was cold.
The bathroom was smelly.
The massage itself was great.
Masseus tried to do the soft sell on my during the massage, pitching the Lodge, the valet, the rooms, the discounts… none of this was solicited.
The staff seemed unhelpful and haughty.
In all, my recommendation is to avoid at all costs. A licensed massage therapist with a small private practice can help you and your tired muscles live much much happier.

My husband and I came here for a relaxing day and that’s just what we got! When you book a treatment, you get complimentary use of the facility’s dry sauna and outdoor hot tub which we used before our massages.
The massage therapists were very sweet and we used the couples room which was amazing and the treatments were fab. We were both very pleased and came out feeling totally relaxed. Thank you WiIlows Lodge.
