Karate classes for kids and adults in Woodland Hills (San Fernando Valley). Our style, Shinkyokushin karate, means «the ultimate truth».

We are a member of WKO (World Karate Organization), and we subscribe to their traditional principles.

History

Established in 2014.

EMA Dojo was created by Sensei Sholin, a third degree black belt in Kyokushin karate. He is the Los Angeles representative of WKO (World Karate Organization) and strives to teach children and adults the true meaning of this classic style.

Business Owner

Sensei Sholin is a third degree black belt and former Bulgarian National Shinkyokushin Champion and Balkan Champion. He has been practicing karate for 25+ years and is a proud member of WKO Karate Organization. He is their representative in the Los Angeles area.

One of the best and only true karate dojos in Southern California!
Sensei Sholin and Sensei Petrov are extraordinary instructors. They are exceptionally talented and 100% devoted to their students. The discipline and respect they teach to the kids are life-​long.
My son has learned so much since he began taking classes at EMA Dojo. He comes to each class with the eager commitment to work hard and improve his karate skills.
I am very happy to have found such a great place and would highly recommend this dojo to anyone!

Simply the very best martial arts studio you could ask for! We are so happy to watch our son Bruce here. Sensei is capable of bringing out the most effort, skill, and character from each child! The studio is also beautiful and clean.

This place is legit! I’ve been taking classes here for over a year. I love it. Sensei Sholin is always on time, and the dojo is clean. I also like the new Kyokushin style of karate. Parking is always available, never had an issue.

Best decision I’ve made for my son. A dojo where your child is not just another $. Sensei Sholin is 100% invested in each student. He holds his standards and expectations high, and the kids work hard, but his heart keeps the kids motivated to make him proud and keep working harder. My son has impressed me with the strength, agility, commitment, and level of respect he has gained during his time at EMA Dojo. It’s become another family for him, with Sensei Sholin and Sensei Petrov being fantastic role models of strength, discipline, and kindness. My 10-​year-​old son plans to reach black belt and beyond with this dojo.

My nine year son has been studying at EMA Dojo with Sensei Sholin for ten months and I can honestly say this has been the best experience we have had trying new sports. He is learning respect, discipline, and the value of hard work in ways that I could never teach him myself. He is in AMAZING shape and exudes self confidence! What a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of the best Sensei’s in the world in our own back yard! And the bonus is my son is learning to speak Japanese! Sensei Sholin, one of the kindest and most respectful persons you will meet, teaches with passion, dedication and commitment to this respected art form. Students are required to learn its’ origin and history while strictly training towards achieving each belt. I especially appreciate my 9 and 10 year old children learning that «not everybody gets a trophy» and that their hard work has reward. Outstanding environment for children with personalized training. Lot’s of teamwork, lot’s of fun. Sensei Sholin becomes part of your family.
