I feel the need to update my review. It has been a year since I wrote, and not surprisingly, the work performed by Polaris is not holding up. Here are a few things that have fallen apart (literally) since my last review. Our driveway and concrete path leading to the house is severely cracked in multiple areas. It looks trashed and in need of a redo after less than 2 years. Our air conditioning unit is no longer leaking through the ceiling, but it does NOT cool the house below 80 degrees when the temperature is warm outside. Of course, David assured us that the unit was large enough to do the job. As I sit here sweating and wasting electricity, I beg to differ. Next, our bedroom room addition has floor to ceiling cracks in one corner making me question the structural integrity of the job. And finally, the master bathroom addition. There are cracks in the grout throughout the shower and floor. The floor is so bad, that the tile is actually loose. Before I close, it is worth mentioning that I never recovered the missing items mentioned in my previous post. Hopefully this review will spare readers the disappointment and frustration we experienced as a result of hiring Polaris.

3 years later, I am EXTREMLY disappointed with the work we had done by Polaris. The house looked great after they finished contruction, we added 2 bedrooms, one upstairs along with a balcony, one down stairs along with a restroom, and extended the original 3 bedrooms we had out 8 feet. The process took a lot longer than the original quoted time. The crew was not reliable, and David talked a great game, but play after play, he fell short. Example, we had the coax cable ran inside the walls. Good thing we made them test the wires before the walls were sealed, because the guy who ran the cable used the cheapest crappiest coax he could find, kept pinching the coax at every turn, and stapled it to the wood beams. If you don’t know, when you run coax cable to tight, and staple down and put kinks in it. It no longer works correctly. And he wasn’t using large enough bandwidth cable so it didn’t even work with Time Warner Cable. To top it off, David refused to get better product. SO we had to go out and get our own cable, and when we told the guy who ran the cable he got mad, and refused to rerun the new cable we bought. We ran it ourselves. (why hire a consturction crew if we are going to have to do the work ourselves) There were a lot of other incidents that happened to make this a very uncomfortable expirence. At the end we were 95% satisfied with the finshed product. A few weeks later we started noticing the grout in the restroom, where the tub meets the tile, was already cracked and chipping away. David’s reasoning behind that, was its natural and normal. (However, in our other restroom, we have tile and grout and it is not cracked like the new restroom is. And our old restroom was done over 10 years ago!!) Over time (3 years to be exact) We have major cracks in 3 out of the 5 bedrooms that Polaris touched, 2 major cracks in the stucco on the outside of the house, the bathtub has cracks in the bottom of it (which happened within months of it being installed) You can see the nail head’s protruding from the walls. All of these complaints have been reported to Polaris (David) and he doesn’t care to fix them. Once they got the final check, they were ghosts in the wind. Our home was built in the late 40’s and the rest of the house is in better condition then the work that Polaris did 3 years ago. Use at your own risk. And word of advice. Do NOT hand over that final check until you are absolutely sure you are happy, because once they recieve the check you wont see them again. And if David comes back to your home to see the complaints (which he did with us) he will give you every single excuse in the box as to why something is the way it is, and will do nothing to fix the issues. «Truth will tell in time»

We live in an old house and have had to do plenty of remodels/​repairs. We have used a few construction companies and we never use the same company twice because there have always been major headaches and hassles — but we had a totally different experience with this company. This is by far the best company we have worked with and it was actually a pleasure! We came to them because we needed to build an addition on the house for our baby. I was in my 9^th month of pregnancy and I told them that I needed the project to be done in two weeks. It was a big request but they were able to do it! The room looks fantastic, the closet that they built is adorable and there wasn’t one problem and they actually finished early! The owner, David, was so sweet that he actually gave us a gift for the baby. What construction company does that? They also built and designed a pantry for us, despite the limited space that our house provides. They constructed a beautiful glass door and nice deep shelves to store all of our food/​paper towels, etc. This company and all of the people that work there, were an absolute pleasure to work with and I would absolutely hire them again to do any future work on the house. Loved them!!!
PS. After reading some of the reviews, I have no idea why anyone would ever say that David was unreachable — he was always in contact with us and even came by short notice when we told him we were unsure how we wanted the closet to look. He was always responsive and available to us and seemed very concerned with making sure that we were happy.

To anyone even slightly thinking of remodeling their home, your search is over! Any questions and/​or doubts you have about where to find the most talented, ethical remodeling team in Los Angeles will be answered «in spades» by Polaris Development and Construction. How do I know this? I was in the same predicament but luckily was introduced to Polaris Development before I went elsewhere. The owner has a group of very talented workmen who have the experience, knowledge and great work ethic to give you the quality workmanship you expect. I am pleased beyond words by their work in updating my 1950’s house into a more open, relaxed concept. The new kitchen Polaris gave me is breathtakingly beautiful. I recently bought a fixer upper house in Los Angeles.
I was contacted by David Noudel and his company Polaris Construction regarding a complete Kitchen remodel and other electrical work that was necessary in the house.
I am always skeptical about building contractors having had nightmare experiences in the past but David and his team totally delivered and made me so happy with the complete project. The company will not work without city permits, don’t even ask, I tried!
The guys worked their tails off and took a real pride in the work in a way that I have never seen before. Each one was a master craftsman in his own right!
Every step of the way was done in a professional and timely manner and the usual pain and discomfort of a remodel was kept to a minimum.
I have no idea what Arin G and Elizabeth T. were complaining about but I cannot give the team a better recommendation than this.

David and Polaris Construction did a great job on my driveway in 2012. It was a very difficult job because I wanted large concrete squares with rocks in between each square. It required a lot of precise cuts and measurements to create this driveway.
It took about 2 weeks to get it just right – and Iam very particular. The job was done very well and my expectations were managed every step of the way. At the end of the day, we were on budget and on time.

I have seen projects completed by David, and have hired him after being recommended by my friend in Studio City. David is a professional contractor who takes responsibility for his work; managing the employees to be on time and keep my place decent as much as possible, being on schedule, and providing all items as written on contract. I had contractors fixing up our home before, and David is the one we’ll hire for our future upgrades. He already met with my sister in Marina Del Rey to discuss her home renovation. Great company. Great guy! I don’t know why Eri from Torrance is being so dramatic?

Here’s the scoop peeps:
David, the owner of Polaris is a very likeable guy. He presents as a friendly, family guy who is trustworthy and someone who would look out for our best interest by staying on budget. He’s a schmoozer. Too bad we didn’t see through it. We called 2 of his references that had done work in our area who gave him not only great reviews but considered him «family” — too bad they probably were family. The finished product of the kitchen and master bath remodel turned out beautiful. However, I would NEVER, EVER, EVER remodel again because of our experience with Polaris and we weren’t even living in the house during the remodel! The problem with David is three-fold1)he is unresponsive to texts, emails and phone calls after you have signed the contract. If you enjoy babysitting middle-​aged men, then this is your guy. 2) he’s a shady. When I say shady, I mean deceitful. Here’s an example, he told us several times that he would «throw it in», where I come from, that means free!!! Instead, we received a $ 500 bill for a slab of marble that he «threw in». In David’s world to «throw in» means not to charge for labor. That’s not forthright. If he was on the up and up he would have simply said «I will not charge you for labor, but the slab will cost $ 500.». How easy is that? That is what a good business man would have done. Along the same lines, he was dishonest about the timing of the completion of the job. He was 3 weeks over what he had promised us. 3) he suggested a better quality of tile instead of just the basic, when asked if that was in our budget, he said «sure no problem» (if you hire him, that’s a go-​to phrase, you’ll near that line of poop a lot). At the end, we we re charged for the higher grade tile. Ummmm, that is why I initially asked you if it was in our budget! Overall, the quality of work does not make up for the months of aggravation and David– loathing we endured. We could not wait to get this guy out of our lives. After doing some retrospective research, we learned that David pulled a slick, old contractor’s move on us: low-​ball the estimate, get the job, then bill later. I can not in good conscious give him a good review and would not recommend him to my worst enemy… Just sayin’
***I need to add an addendum to my original review. We were having electrical work done on our house recently. We had an inspector come out from the County. As it turned out, there were 2 things that needed correction that David’s men had done that were not to code. We had them corrected by other people. That was just electrical. I’m wondering how many other pieces of Polaris’ work are not to code since there was never a final inspection.
On another note, we needed touch up paint for our cabinets. David was very responsive and delivered the paint to us. It was the wrong paint (gloss not semi-​gloss). But he was good for his word.
I am the daughter and grand-​daughter of business owners of a company that has existed for over a half century. I believe that small businesses are what make America great. Small business is what put me through college. I would never attempt to ruin a business’ reputation or post untruths. This was my experience with this company and it would have been nice to have all of the facts before hiring.
