Val Surf

Was very happy with my purchase at this location. The sales associates asked if I needed any assistance after browsing their wetsuit collection. I happened to find one that caught my attention. I was a little wary at purchasing it because of the size; however, Duffy ensured me the stretchier wetsuit that was a little bit higher in price was well worth the cost.

Such an awesome experience shopping there. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Sara was amazing and helped me with my purchases. Prices were reasonable and I found exactly what I needed. Thanks Val Surf!

Love this place!

Great service, great selection and awesome deals. I feel very welcomed every time I walk in. The staff is knowledgable and extremely helpful. I came in and Sara helped me find a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. She knew her stuff and suggest other things. He loved the gift! Best surf shop in town. :)

Came here with my brother and both of us came out with a new wardrobe. They have a nice variety of skating and surfing clothes as well as just normal daily clothes. You can also shop for skate boards surfboards and even snowboards here. It really is a one-​stop shop and their prices are OK for the quality or getting. I would say moderately expensive. Staff is very friendly and helpful every time I come shop here. If you live in the area I would definitely check the store out for some good shopping

I was looking for a Victoria Skimboard. I took a visit to this Val Surf location because my peeps recommended it. I was browsing around and I actually found the exact board I was looking for. I was so stoked! The in-​store price matched the actual manufactures online price. The employee in Val Surf threw in 1 bar of free wax for my board, so I was very pleased of their kind act. I will be back.

This place is awesome. They have a great selection of products for both summer and winter. Heading to the mountain this weekend and I needed a board rental. Steven gave me a great deal and even took the time to prep the board and make sure it was in perfect shape. Couldn’t be happier with everything and I feel privileged to have this store in my neighborhood.

The staff just stands around talking to one another not what i consider helpful.
I’ve been riding on all types of board since I was a grom, snow surf & skate. Went to grab a new penny thought they might have them, this guy working there did not even know what a Penny board was. Come on bro, I am a 25 year old FEMALE who is more inclined to be working or running this place than anyone else who is in fact employed. The only reason I ever go here is to have my snowboards re-​waxed before I head out for the season & thats only because they are the most convenient location in regards to my house, but I might just start going to LTD Sports since they are equally as close. Secondly they are OVERPRICED. Finally, if you want a real SURF SHOP head down the street to KENNEDYS he is a REaL SURFER with a real shop, super nice and helpful.
Even when I took a trip to Kuaui to surf Hanalei I even met a local who knew Kennedy. As well as one of my friends in Huntington Beach even knows of Kennedy.
HIRE PEOPLE WHO LIVE A LIFESTYLE THAT REPRESENTS YOUR «BRAND.» The basics of business. I’m not sure half the employees there skate, surf or board at all.
If you are a real surfer support a real shaper and go to Kennedys!!! He did my custom board for the price of a new board at VAL SURF. He is awesome & only hires equally as awesome individuals. Plus you won’t get ripped off.

Just got
board from Chris Duffy! He totally took care of me. I busted my Weirdo Ripper just before a surf trip. I had 1 day to get a similar board. DUFFY got me an Al Merrick #4 … sent my Weirdo Ripper in for repair and called a Futures Rep to get a replacement fin for my WCTs futures fins. Way good deal!

Val Surf is the absolute best. From the boards, to clothes, glasses whatever, they have it all and then some, but that isn’t what makes it the best. What sets Val Surf waaaaay apart from other shops (or any retail store) is their customer service and a real community vibe. Sometimes my kids and I just hang and talk surf, while waiting for other buddies to drop by to get the reports from places people have surfed.
I have been buying gear from Val Surf both secretly (I was raised in Santa Monica and it was absolutely forbidden to buy from or even go here) and «out of the closet» for the last 20 years. Styles, shapes wetsuits etc. have all changed over those 20 years, but I will tell you, the shop’s warmth and attentiveness to the customer has not.
Duffy, Cory, Cole, whoever, everybody who works there is cool and helpful.
Love the place and couldn’t live without it!

Strangest thing happened last week. I lost my beloved Vestal watch (see original review) and my first instinct was to return to the place where I got it in order to procure a new one. But, being a busy guy and all, I decided to call them up first in order to see if they had it.
I call and get a pleasantly voiced, helpful young lady who informs me that they don’t currently have my watch in stock, but if I give her a moment she can make a call and see if she can get some in. So I oblige, she makes her call (s) and informs me that my watch will be there tomorrow.
The next day after work I travel on over there and due to traffic, arrive only ten minutes before the store closes only to find my familiar old spunky, curly haired friend working the register. Turns out it was her with whom I had spoken on the phone the day before. I don’t even want to think about what the odds are on that.
She patiently waits while I try on a few different versions of the same watch before choosing the one I want, she then resizes it for me and rings me up while chatting. After our transaction is complete I decide to ask her for her number and she gives it to me. How crazy is that?
At first I was bummed about losing my watch, but not any more.
And, once again, it’s all thanks to my spunky, curly haired friend whose name I now know, but choose not to share.

Val Surf is one of the rare shops in the valley that I haven’t been to. Walking in, I was expecting another Tilly’s/Pac Sun store and that’s basically what it is… except that the prices are jacked up sky high. $ 45.00 for a pair of high waisted light blue jean shorts? I’ll stick to my cheap ass Forever 21 clothing. They do have a great selection of surf apparel and they have an area where you can bring in your board to get fixed… pretty awesome and the guys that work there are super nice — which is something I haven’t encountered in those types of shops.
Bottom Line: Wide selection, expensive prices, good service. not worth it.

I am totally impressed with how great they understand customer service. I am a beginner at snowboarding and bought a used board from craigslist. The edges and the bottom of the board were pretty chewed up and one of my friends told me to take it to Val Surf to have it waxed. I went there expecting to be charged like $ 40 or $ 50 dollars for the service. I was shocked when the guy that helped me told me to do a small tune up for $ 25 dollars. (I also took my girlfriend’s board to see if it needed service too. He told me the board was perfectly fine and not to worry about hers). He then asked me when was I going snowboarding. I told him I would be going on January 28. He told me the board would be ready for pick up on January 27. I prepaid the service and went back on the 27^th and picked up my board.
When I went to pick up my board I was totally amazed at how well my board turned out. The bottom of the board had a gigantic scratch in it when I dropped it off. When I picked it up, it looked new. These guys are the greatest. I do not know the common charge for this service, however my money was well spent. I highly recommend them to everyone. Their service is great, store looks great, all the employees are great and polite, and they understand the importance of honesty!!!
