The Coconut Ube cake was so good!!! It was very moist and not dry at all. Definitely coming back here again! The Halo Halo was also really good because of the mango ice cream.

The mango cake was very good and moist but the ube cake was pretty dry. Seems like a hit or miss there. The little packaged mini cakes they sell(look like twinkies) are delicious too!

Purple yam cake and mango cake. The nice thing is that they actually have a cake that is half and half. I can have them both at the same time. The cake is nice and moist.

I’d come in to this bakeshop and have a coffee just to experience the service here. Where do the workers get their training, from the classy Mark Hotel in Manhattan? I was welcomed as if I were walking into a five star business. The guy behind the counter greeted me cheerfully, said good bye and thanked me as I left. Two men came out from the back to check the premises, both with smiles as they met my eye. I got such good vibes from this place, I didn’t care that the ube cake while good, wasn’t great. It was slightly on the drier side on the bottom section, perhaps because they had just taken the slice out of the refrigerator. The deep dark purple color contrasted beautifully against the white whipped cream frosting. The sponge had a nice taste, if not strong with the flavor of ube. Again, that may have been because I ate it cold and flavors come out better at room temperature. I came on a weekday afternoon, so perhaps the turnover wasn’t so great. I bet a whole cake would be all moist and yummy. All prepackaged breads and cakes looked tasty and fresh, though unfortunately more processed and with more ingredients than I like in my baked goods. Hey, you’re talking about a gal who likes to bake from scratch. Red Ribbon is apparently a famous chain in the Philippines, and started up in Queens. This bakeshop is clean, painted in warm orange and yellow colors, with an enticing cake and bread display. I’d try their other cakes again and hope, with such friendly, gracious service, that they continue to do well.

It was my first time at a Filipino bakery and I must say that I am impressed. I ordered a slice of ube overload and a roll of Ube Coconut cake for my grandparents. Having never actually tasted ube prior to the cakes, I was pleasantly surprised that the ube tasted a lot like taro, but better. The cakes were light and fluffy, with a nice shade of dark purple. My grandmother loveddd the ube coconut cake I brought back.

I give this place 4 and not 5 because theres nothing exceptional about Red Ribbon. I also give this 4 and not 3 because I like Mamons and there aren’t too many Red Ribbons around.

Three stars for the ethnic obligation to this place. You can tack another one on for the sheer esoterica of items sold at this joint. This Filipino bakery chain has shops all over the homeland, and even boasts an impressive amount of shop fronts on the west coast; needless to say, this particular writer’s familiarity with the Red Ribbon brand is relatively extensive compared to most persons in this part of the world(only one in NY methinks). Purple(ube) colored things have become commonplace, in relation to the kinds of Filipino foodstuffs that I’ve been(forced) to consume over the years. As it stands, I do like ube, but as one who tends to hate being part of a new fad(or at least I hate having to admit that I’m into what’s «in»), it is a bit painful seeing all these newbies claiming ownership over something that was once a little secret belonging to me and mine. Nevertheless, I do recognize the novelty of tasty purple things. However, despite the baked goods and pastries being more connected to the namesake of the store and the brand, I personally enjoy the other weirdly placed Filipino food products that are available to order. Since palabok is one of my personal favorite dishes, and one I seldom have an opportunity to enjoy(unless I request mi madre to cook some for me during a planned visit to the Lanc Lanc…), I am touched that this shrimpy, eggy, pork-ish noodle dish has a place on the menu. Now if only this particular joint also served up arroz caldo(they do on the west coast… so why not here, where it would actually be a welcomed tool to fight the cold from our bones during the winter months)… unfortunately, the sad reality is that this item, a place on the menu, it does not(and that I don’t rule the world). Overall, the nostalgic nerve in my body forces awkward smiles, in public, from this particular writer, when thinking about this place… and trying not to think about this place ultimately makes me start thinking about this place. I’m awkward smiling in public right now, aren’t I?

If you’re looking for some yummy cakes for all occasion then this is the spot! They have ube cake, manggo cakes & a lot more. Whenever theirs a birthday I always buy this cake to share. I highly recommend the manggo & ube cake. You can get a slice or the whole piece. They use the exact sweetness. I love it! They have this really good empanadas with flavor of beef & chicken. If you wanna eat there then they have chairs & table. Its a bakeshop/restaurant shop. They sell some Filipino snacks/meals too. Always coming back whenever I miss filipino snacks & cakes! Feels like I’m just in the Philippines.

I came in to find a Filipino bakery and heard that Red Ribbon was nearby. It is a fast food chain but what they offered were amazing. I love Ube and saw a big, colorful Ube cake sitting in the cake aisle. I always wanted to try the cake and so I brought a slice. For $ 2.75, it was worth your money as the cake was smooth and not too sweet. If only the bakery was located in Manhattan or Brooklyn, it would be awesome. I might even order it for my birthday.

I must be a fan if I’ve come out of my way to come here twice. Haha. I came here for Ube cake. I love Ube. I don’t actually love purples yams itself, but when it’s transformed into a delicious dessert. Heck yeah! It’s a bit expensive, but I don’t really care. haha. The Ube cake is good.(Though I don’t really have anything else to compare it to) My only complaint, is that, it’s a little on the dry side. But other than that, its yummy. It’s not too sweet at all. The cream is just cream, no artificial sugar taste. So big thumbs up. I’ve also tried their Halo Halo. I love halo-halo too. It’s the Filipino Sundae. My suggestion, is to mix everything, otherwise you’re gonna end up with a very sugary taste. Though it’s hard to mix cause they fill it up to the top. I’m not sure if you can ask to have it premixed for you. Maybe something to ask next time. Anyway, I can’t compare the quality of food here to authentic(because Red Ribbon is a chain) Filipino food. But my taste buds says it’s good. Definitely give it a try if you’ve never had Filipino food before.

Ube Cake… is what I came for(their Ube Cake is delicious and so colorful), there are two choices for an entire cake and a third choice for single serve) but what I fount was a bit more. They have other Filipino cakes all packed nice on one side of the wall and within the glass cases all displayed so nice. Each also very decently prices. And there’s more… Cooked food with a reasonably displayed menu over head. They could improve on there seating arrangement, seems like a thrown out décor like a cafeteria but no matter, all is nice and clean and bright. It was a quick visit just to pick up cake. From a quick glance of the mid-sized place, approved solid 4 stars.

I love this Filipino bakery. It’s a chase but there aren’t many around here in the nyc so it’s a real gem. The only other place to find this kind of pastries/cake is at a Filipinos mothers home. The bread overall(which is the base for all their other flavored breads) is so airy, fluffy and light. Unlike most American cakes, it melts in your mouth and almost feels like you bit into a piece of cloud. So don’t be surprised it you can finish an entire bag of these sweet treats because they don’t really fill you up. It’s the perfect excuse to get one of each product. I love the mocha and ube bread but the regular sugared ones are great too! For people who don’t know, ube is a taro so the bread is purple. Don’t hold back though. Taro is probably one of the best things you should try in Asian desserts. The place has a few seats but I come by to get enough bread to last my week

Nice local spot to grab something quick to eat. Ube cake was decent. Not too sweet, and flavor was pretty on point. The cake itself was a bit dry. I was really hoping for that SOFT and MOIST texture(don’t be gross), but no luck there. Halo halo was okay, but I wish they put Ube ice cream in it.

I absolutely love the ube overload cake I got it for my birthday last year! It is perfectly moist and just the right amount of sweet in the cream. I originally got it because I love all things purple but honestly an incredible and unique experience! I went through a rain storm to pick up this cake for a friend that enjoyed it so much on my birthday we had to order it for them! We also got the chicken empanadas since we happened to be so hungry the day we picked up the cake and they were really yummy, tasted more like Jamaican patties than empanadas but still just as good! Mango cake is also yummy one of my friends had it at her housewarming party. I love being part of the Queens community with all these diverse foods! I still can’t believe ube is Philippine sweet potato!

This is my go to spot for Filipino deserts and treats. I have tasted halo-halo in just about every Fililino restaurant in New York and this place has the best version. The mix of yummy ingredients is awesome and the serving size is just perfect. Their baked goods are fresh and tasty. They make the best mamon cake. I usually come here for their cakes when i need a birthday cake. You can’t go wrong with their mango cakes. The shop is not very spacious and it may be tough to find a seat. You will usually find some older folks taking their time at their table. Though the place is kept clean and sanitary.

This was probably my 5th or 6th time here but only getting the change to write about it. In the past, we have ordered gulaman at sago here, but they no longer serve it here which makes me so sad because it was so good! =(They also serve halo-halo and a whole lot of variety of baked goods. I think they also sell pancit palabok, but not quite sure. On this particular visit, we ordered the banana bread and a whole bunch of cheesy mamon. I really liked both. The banana bread was a little sweeter than I’d like it but the cheesy mamon was definitely fresh and delicious. I would definitely come here for the baked goods because this is where they excel the most.

You have to know what to buy otherwise it’s hit or miss. The sponge cakes(mamon) and ensaymada are great but the cakes can be just so-so. I wasn’t impressed with the ube cake as it was dry. From past experience I know their brazo de mercedes is quite good so next time perhaps I’ll stick to that.

This small Philippianian bakery has won my heart. If u care about calorie a lil less at times then their ‘halo halo’ is absolutely mind blowing. Also a weird looking purple cake called ‘ube’ is amazing. I crave for such deliciousness!

Love the cakes and buns, especially the ube flavors. Décor and seating has been updated and service has also improved — used to be a lot slower when it got busy. Try the ube roll/cakes. It’s what this place is known for and the color, taste, and texture of this pastry is unique and delicious. They used to have some unique sales(buy 6 of the mamons and get 1 free or something along those lines) but last time I visited they were gone. Bring back some unique sales that rotate weekly or daily Red Ribbon; I guarantee your sales would increase — they were an incentive for me to buy whenever I’d pass by.

I finally tried the ube cake, and it is now my favorite, it has the texture of red velvet cake, but with a cool whip –like frosting. I really could do without that frosting… not good. One thing I’m also not crazy about is that there are a lot of preservatives in their baked goods. To be honest this isn’t really a true bakery its more of a Filipino version of a Entemans outlet.

If you are Filipino Red Ribbon has a special place in your heart, but really even if you aren’t you will surely enjoy this place too especially if you have a sweet tooth. I really like the brazo de mercedes it’s soft baked meringue with lemon-flavored custard cream. My favorite is the rock road cake, it’s chocolate pound cake loaded with cashew nuts, marshmallows and choco cream yum! As far as ambiance, it is not as sweet as the desserts they serve, it looks like a fast-food restaurant chain. Everytime I came here it was packed with people and was loud. However, I do not come here to sit and socialize, but to buy my sweet goodies.

Lemme hear you say Mango — MANGO! Lemme hear you say Cake — CAKE! Lemme hear you CHEEEEEER! My craving for mango was satisfied the evening I waltzed into Red Ribbon. After a short wait, I devoured the moist, sweet morsel placed in front of me. I have never even been within 300 feet of a Filipino bakery, much less once that offers savory empanadas coupled with colorful assortment of strangely flavored items to spike your blood sugar in a myriad of ways. The vibe here was fun — but I got the feel that this is essentially a Filipino fast food(bakery) chain. It seems like most items are premade elsewhere and shipped to this location. When peering at the packaging I noticed everything was loaded with preservatives and partially hydrogenated oils — Meh. Still, even with my knowledge of the nutritional content(it’s a bakery, after all!) the ube cake was staring at me from behind the counter, temping me with it’s playful and mysterious color. When I’m in the area next I will return to my grubby little hands on it.

Best halo halo I’ve had. And they are nice enough to give us extra cups so we can share. It’s a little much to finish the entire concoction on your own I think. I wasn’t aware that we can pick between the vanilla and the ube ice cream dinner I’ll definitely ask for ube. Also got the mocha mamon to go and the next day I toasted it and it was the perfect breakfast, like a soft and buttery muffin. I’m going to stock up on that next time(buy 6 get one free I think). Service is very friendly. I think they are associated with Jollibee. Restroom is pretty clean also. It’s now my go to dessert option in Woodside.

I’ve heard Red Ribbon isn’t the BEST place for Filipino desserts, but hell, I have no idea where the holes in the walls are. The atmosphere at Red Ribbon reminds me of a Tim Horton’s or some fried chicken chain… not really the most inviting of restaurants. Mango ice cream vs ube ice cream… I haven’t had the latter, but the halo halo here was delicious! Having never had it before, my friend and I had to watch and learn — mixing is the way to do it. Unless you’ve really got a sugar craving, I would suggest sharing one, as it is quite large. Loved all the sweetness and all the different ingredients at the bottom of the cup. One of the most satisfying desserts in a while — and it wasn’t nearly as heavy as I thought it was going to be. I was really wanting to try the ube cake and the mango cake, but after a hefty dinner at SriPraPhai, I couldn’t do it. Maybe next time when I’m in the melting pot called Woodside!
