I love this theater. Seats are comfy its cheaper and free refills any size. Parking in the square isn’t great

This is a great cinema and really enjoy taking the kids here for a movie. Ticket prices are better than any other theater I have visited. Concessions are average priced, but free drink and popcorn refills are great when you have popcorn fiends for children.

my dad and I moved here to Woodstock a few months ago. before I knew about this theater, the only other few movie theaters I was use to going to were in Lake in the Hills and Elgin. One day, on my day off work and school, I decided to go watch the movie «Creed». I checked the times and found they were showing an early show at this theater. It was my first time going here. I had never driven in downtown Woodstock before. Once I got there, I ended up parking at the Square, to which I had no idea there was only a 2 hour parking limit. As I went inside the theater, I noticed that the atmosphere seem both old and new school combined. very clean and organized. the employees at the front concession stand were nice as they provided food and tickets. I asked if my car would be safe being parked in the square for the time being and they said it would be fine. the seats inside the theater were comfortable. after watching the movie, I was able to return to my car and it was not towed or ticketed. I plan on going back to this theater to catch up on some movies I’ve been meaning to see, but lately I’ve been busy with school and work. once I’m not busy, I’ll go. this being my first review is to show how nice my first experience was. once I keep going more often, I’ll be able to review a lot more.

Great Movie theater! I love how you decide how much butter and salt you want on your popcorn! A few years ago, the place was in serious need of renovation, and recently they’ve renovated it! They’ve added new theaters, bathrooms and parking! Soda and ICEES are still great! This place is great for children’s birthday parties, the cost per child is $ 10 and it comes with one movie showing, party room use, refills on kiddie combos! I love this place, and seriously try this place if you are in the area!!!

I like this small town theater. It’s located on the beautiful square. They just put a lot of money into making more theaters and updates. Seats are comfortable and have drink holders. Ticket prices are average. They have fun events like Wednesday morning kids movie’s.

They put so much money and love into this theater — I’m truly amazed! What a turn around from what it was a couple of years ago.
This has never been a terrible theater. I’ve actually preferred it to Crystal Lake because it was cheaper and had sprinkly cheese for the popcorn. But a couple of years ago, it was just another old, sticky, Midwestern movie theater. With the newest renovation, it has really turned itself around. I just hope the people of McHenry County are willing to come here and pay for tickets so we don’t lose another great place.
The ticket stand at the door has been taken out, and you now buy your ticket at the snack counter. Maybe this is a ploy to make people buy more snacks, but that’s 100% okay with me, because they have the butter machines out from behind the counter, so I will happily buy popcorn to slather up any day. I even asked them to fill the bucket half way so I could put butter on the bottom half, then asked for it to be filled so I could put more popcorn on top. I’m drooling thinking about this popcorn. And they still have sprinkly cheese and seasonings for the top! Amazing.
The theaters are so nice now. The seats are big and plush and comfortable. The only downside of the big chairs is that you can’t easily rest your feet on the one in front of you, but I probably shouldn’t be doing that anyway.
You also can’t beat the price of this place — $ 6 for a matinée and $ 8 for a night time show. My whole family went to the movies and got snacks for $ 30, which is kind of unheard of these days.
Great theater, friendly service, popcorn to die for. Go!

Woodstock Theater is the hidden gem of Woodstock. There’s nothing to do out here; but had I known such excellent customer service and and comfy seating awaited I would have visited several times already. Parking can be tricky if you don’t know the town, but there is plenty, and it’s free! I’m not sure how the snacks taste here, but I’m sure it’s the same as anywhere else you go: filled with tons of fat, salt, and sugar!
First off, don’t try to sneak around this theater to see an extra movie for free. Although the staff was sweet, I felt like they were distrustful. Their eyes followed my mom and I all the way to the cinema featuring our show. Through the entire movie, there was a woman, or usher, who kept watching over everyone. I’m not too sure what she was looking for or what she was expecting to happen. At the end of the show, the woman was holding a bowl of complimentary mints for people to take on their way out. I don’t know if this was a service after every movie they have there, or if the owner thought the concept of the movie «Lucy» was that intense where an immediate dose of sugar was in order, post viewing.
Like everyone says, the seating is phenomenal. There’s enough room for your butt to spread out and extra wide armrests to share comfortably, even if you don’t know the person sitting next to you. I like how they position the cup holders too. At regular theaters, my knees are screaming by the end of the movie and I can’t wait to stand up. Woodstock Theater positioned everything so you have plenty of room to stretch out during the show. That’s a bonus!
To find extra parking, you’ll have to leave the square and locate spaces next to Chop Suey Hut. The parking lot is literally behind the theater and there are convenient stairs to lead you down and around to the front. I almost like it better because there’s a corner heavy with trees to shade your car from the sun in the summer. Woodstock, you’re truly spoiled with this theater. All residents are cheating themselves for not seeing every movie that even looks remotely interesting right here. The bargain matinée is only $ 6. Do yourself a favor and just go! Don’t wait for it to come out on Netflix! Enjoy!

A Great Old School Theater
We came here on a Saturday morning to watch the movie Groundhog Day. We literally had to drive through a snow storm on a Saturday morning. If Phil Connors (Bill Murray) was with me he may have made it out of town on that famous day. It was that treacherous.
The theater is in the middle of being renovated but when we made it into the show the place was already packed with movie goers. The theater is very cozy and since the place was packed we didn’t have too many seats to chose from. I actually think that we probably found the last two seats right in the front row (Bob Uecker). The one thing that I noticed right away was how comfy the seats were. They felt like the leather seats that came from an old Cadillac or that La-​Z-​Boy chIr that your dad never let you sit in but you did when he wasn’t looking and he knew it.
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience. I would definitely come back here again and again and again to watch another viewing of Groundhog Day.

Parking is terrible and the manager and staff is unfriendly. WTH! And I’m FROM Woodstock. Get your stuff together otherwise me and my clan will go to Crystal Lake, and Lake in the Hills (with the great recliners and friendly staff!)

great little theater and im happy that since the expansion I dotn have to go to crystal lake to see a movie. good prices and free refills on popcorn and soda. i love the new stadium seating.

My husband & I were so looking forward to the renovations & the new stadium seating. We were there this past Friday & ended up very disappointed with the lack of room in each seat & the lack of leg room. The theater (# 3) we were in was not very full & thank goodness, because someone next to me on both sides & in the front would have been extremely uncomfortable. They did not remove any of the slants either. If you would like to use the concession stand in the back, be prepared to walk up a major slant & be prepared to stand on said slant while purchasing your concessions. Despite the good prices, good popcorn & candy they give out at the end, this theater is now our last choice.

Though the prices are great, this newly remodeled theater forgot about how going to the theater should be a comfortable experience. While other theaters are putting in more comfortable, roomier seats that invite you to stay, Woodstock’s newly remodeled theater has you sitting almost on top of the person next to you! The seats are small, uncomfortable and there is no room between you and your neighbor. Additionally, the lighting of the stairway was done poorly and is a distraction if you happen to be in a seat near the aisle.
One more thing, if you are trying to hold on to that quaint old town feel, than you need to hire people who enjoy the work that they do instead of grumpy grumpies.

Love this place. Great theater in a small town, and they give you candy on the way out. Looking forward to the expansion in progress.

Can’t beat the price, the place need a renovation, only has 4 theaters :(, I still come here when I don’t wan’t to drive to crystal lake, the popcorn here is amazing, the last time I came here, they still had free refills.

Bridesmaids was great comedy as well.

This is my local movie theater and I often take my three kids here to see family-​friendly first-​run movies. There are four screens and the theater itself is well-​maintained. Arrive early to make it through the concession lines; they do sell kid-​sized ‘snack packs,’ which are fun but pricey. You really can’t beat the prices here: $ 4 matinees, $ 6 adult admission and $ 4 for kids any time of day.

Small local theatre chain gem. Inexpensive admission, bottomless popcorn and drinks.
Great Woodstock square location. Make a day of it. There is a farmers market here in summer, a «square lighting» ceremony in winter, entertainment and misc. events, and even if you are not here for any of those events, there is still plenty of other things to do and you will appreciate the quaint small townness of Woodstock.

I haven’t been to a hometown movie theater for over 15 years now. I forgot about all the charm and character that they have versus the mega-​theaters.
The lobby is small, cramped, and crowded with energetic patrons. What a great way for neighbors to bump into neighbors. Please note that it takes a while to get through the concession line… so allow plenty of time before the movie.
There are only 4 screens… and the movies tend to be out for a while. However, spending $ 4.00 for a 2:30 show on a Sunday… why not!!! I really enjoyed the older light fixtures and the art deco wall mountings. The seats were comfy and plenty of room to allow people to get in and out. The aisle had about 6 seats on each side. This allowed everyone their own section for the most part.
After the movie let out… they had one of their staff great us at the door with a large bowl of mints. It was a nice small town touch that you don’t get in the city or the burbs.
The theater is right off the square in downtown Woodstock. This would be a great stop for anyone looking for a relaxing and inexpensive day away from the hustle and bustle. Also, Metra drops off right at the downtown square. You could visit different shops and other tourist spots with the rest of your afternoon.

This theater is amazing– they only have I believe three or four screens– BUT they tend to be quite current on their films (unless it’s a block buster don’t expect anything too adult themed) and $ 5!!!
The staff are mostly sweet high school kids who do a pretty good job at what they do. The manager is a really nice guy. It’ just a fun experience in general from the light up marque to the overly salty popcorn.

There still are places where people can see affordable AND current movies. I lived in a small town that had a small, quaint movie theatre, but it would always show old movies or movies that you can rent at Blockbuster. This movie theatre not only shows current movies, but they have special events and puts on a lot of great events for the community — free kids film day, showing of Oscar-​nominated movies, foreign film festival, etc.
Believe it or not, matinees are $ 3 and all other times are $ 5. You get free refills of soda and popcorn — that’s right, I said POPCORN. I saw Superman Returns here the minute it opened.
