Creating your own private paradise
History
Established in 2004.
Flying Mammoths Landscape Design came about while snow shoeing through a wetland and learning about the history of that piece of land and the various impacting forces that came into play to create that landform. What we see in New England are the remnants of the 2 mile thick glaciers that receeded 10 – 12,000 years ago. History of place is what connects us to land.
Lizabeth Moniz, principal and owner of Flying Mammoths Landscape Design started the business by combining knowledge from a graduate degree in Landscape Design, many years of residential building, an encompassing and never ending curiousity of nature and plants, an undergraduate degree in Art, and a desire to create outdoor spaces where there is beauty, abundance of food, peacefulness, and curiosity. Landscapes that are designed by Flying Mammoths Landscape Design are thoughtful, engaging, productive and work to the clients’ specifications. No landscape is too big or too small. We help you to create your own private paradise.
Meet the Business Owner
Lizabeth M.
Business Owner
Lizabeth Moniz owner and principal designer received a Master of Arts in Landscape Design and Sustainable Land-Use Planning from the Conway School of Landscape Design and has been designing for and consulting with clients in Vermont, New England and beyond since 2004.
Captivated by plants and nature at a very early age and continually amazed by their surprises and beauty, Lizabeth’s curiosity with natures’ workings and inter-connectedness remains inextinguishable and drives the passion of her work. As a homesteader, designer, builder, and educator, Lizabeth sees landscapes as multifunctional, providing food, habitat, and beauty. Utilizing her land as a testing ground for plants, built structure, solar exposure, gardening techniques, etc., has given Lizabeth a wider breadth of applicable hands-on practical knowledge.
A great day will find Lizabeth planting or walking and exploring the mysteries of the forest. An amazing day will find Lizabeth body surfing in non-shark-infested waters.
