I’ve eaten in this restaurant several times and highly recommend the mofongo with shrimp in garlic sauce! The mofongo is very moist and the shrimp were big and flavorful. That is my usual choice, but I’ve also had the pollo a la plancha con limon(grilled chicken with lemon) accompanied by tostones which was also very good. Service is always great, the portions were big and prices very reasonable. They also offer delicious and refreshing homemade lemonade in their menu. Will definitely return!

Under new management. Stopped by on a Sunday and had some delicious pork chunks and fresh tostones. Would definitely try again.

Being a Latina I have high expectations of Latin food and this place doesn’t not do Latin food justice. I have given this place 3 chances to get it right, and they have failed every time.

I visited Makao after driving by day after day and seeing them cleaning outside their restaurant every morning. So I headed with my coworker after work and was greeted by a very nice hostess. They did have a menu but it was printed as a take out menu with no listed prices. She went over the whole menu with me and afterwards I asked the prices and it was $ 15.00 for the shrimp mofongo and $ 18.00 for the strip steak mofongo. We ordered our drinks which was a selection of bottled soft drinks, tropical juices, piña colada or morir sonando. The meal was prepared fresh we could hear them cooking in the kitchen and went it came out the food was fresh and hot. The mofongo was filled with pork and the sauce that went over the mofongo and shrimp was to die for. My friend has ordered the mofongo with strip steak and it was a very large steak and equally good. Both plates were accompanied with some lettuce and tomatoes. They do only accept cash but the quality of food was worth it.

Just finished eating at this restaurant. It was originally Ecuadorian food and it was good. I went in thinking the same, So Wrong. First off they had no Menus so the waitress/owner told us what it was. We asked if they had alcohol and she told us no. We placed our order and it took long in the mean time we received our drinks. When the food came the presentation was nice but the food was cold, dry and over cooked. we did not see the waitress/owner for the rest of our stay. By that time I was ready to leave when I got the bill I was Amazed that each plate was over $ 18(keep in mind there were no menus) $ 70 total, wow! We love to eat out and do not mind paying if its worth it but this place is a joke! We go to pay and they don’t except credit card, what! The whole experience was horrible and do not recommend anyone going!
