Salon West

I was originally thrilled to find a salon that was open on a Sunday morning, because I needed an updo for my brother’s wedding, and my usual stylist couldn’t get me in until noon, which was too late in the day for my schedule.
Come 10:30am on Sunday… I’m waiting outside a closed salon… No answer on the phone, no one inside, nothing. I waited until 10:45, gave up and went home to do my own hair. At 11:15, I finally get a phone call from the salon owner, saying that there was a family emergency but she could get me in now, if I want. Ummm​.no.
They took my number when I made the appointment… I’m sure if *i* had been late, they would have managed to call me, and I expect the same courtesy.
Then, to add insult to injury, when I posted a complaint on their Facebook page, the salon owner made it clear that she didn’t need my recommendations or reviews and was snarky about my day being ruined just because I couldn’t get my hair done.
I’m sorry but a professional would have either arranged for another stylist to cover for her, or called and let me know that she was running late.
If you make an appointment here, you’d better hope that she deigns to show up to do your hair. Personally, I wouldn’t want to take that kind of chance on an important day.
Run, don’t walk, to another salon if you can. They are open on Sundays though, so they must get a lot of the «beggars can’t be choosers» wedding business.

What a find!
I got married on a Sunday in Worcester and called all around looking for a salon to do my hair and my bridesmaids’ hair. Almost every salon was closed or would charge me an arm and leg to come to the hotel. The situation was a nail biter until I called Salon West and found out that they were open!
Although it is unnerving to go to a salon we had never used for the big day, we felt confident with the reviews online. I had fairly good expectations — but could not shake that shadow of doubt.
We showed up for a trial — and was immediately put at ease. The salon has a very small, cozy and welcoming feel with big open windows, two stations for cutting, and a big red wall with the 2 additional sinks against it.
I was happy with my trial, but after wearing it for the day I started noticing things that I wanted to change about it. Barbara was a joy, taking all of concerns, addressing them, and changing my updo style on the day of the wedding. My hair ended up looking more amazing than I had ever imagined! I absolutely loved it!
In 6 hours, Barbra transformed the hair of 6 ladies. Each girl had a different style, and Barbra did such an amazing job executing our hair styles while maintaining our individual personalities! All of our hair lasted through the night. (We are in our mid-​twenties and danced the night away with no worries!!)
Barbra was so great and allowed us to basically take over the space for the day! We were doing our nails, munching on lunch, doing our make-​up and hanging out. She was so easy to get along with — and was really fun to be around on the special day!
Barbra, we’ll never forget you! Congrats on your marriage as well!
This was the best decision ever! I’d recommend Barbra to anyone looking for a fun experience at a great salon!
Also, it is worthy to note that the prices are extremely competitive — we could not have found a better deal… thanks again!
