Rosedell Bed & Breakfast

Wonderfully restored 1909 house, with beautiful woodwork, garden and nice places to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine or read a book. Very relaxing and a great bed! We stayed in the red room, but got to peak at all the rooms and there is not a bad spot in the house. Holly is friendly and makes a nice breakfast too.

The Rosedell Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful old home turned B&B by Heidi, who runs this place by herself. With only four rooms, this B&B provides an intimacy you can’t get with larger establishments but still the old world charm and hospitality you expect when staying at an establishment like this.
Being one of the first ones to arrive, we were able to see all the upstairs rooms – each unique and furnished beautifully. Plenty of natural light throughout the house and other updated amenities like mini-​fridges, microwaves, TV and cable in each room.
The breakfast was filling; nothing super fancy but flavorful and the coffee was plentiful. You also get to choose when you want breakfast instead of a set time where everyone gathers. I found this small change very convenient and avoids some of those awkward early morning meals.

This B&B is as good as it gets. I’m only reluctant to give this great of a review because I suspect I may never get another booking once everybody else finds out about this place! It’s a wonderful old mansion, full of history and charming period décor. We were surprised to find how nice it is and that the accommodations themselves are first rate: comfortable bed and furnishings in a room with private bath, wifi (no extra charge), microwave, refrigerator, safe, and flat screen TV. Ultra clean and updated with just the right mix of antique and modern. Just outside our upstairs room is a lovely foyer with books and magazines, comfortable chairs and a keurig with all the coffee and tea you’d like. The breakfasts are homemade, we had eggs benedict the first day and excellent french toast with herbed home fries the next. Each breakfast started with yogurt and fruit parfait and included all your beverages. Very filling and delicious. Holli is so accommodating and friendly yet thoroughly professional. We felt in good hands the entire time.
We stayed in the turret room — just a wonderful ambience. You don’t mind staying all day if you had nothing else to do, but we did. We came for a tournament at YVCC and indeed it is virtually within walking distance. We were able to ride our bikes to the trail along the river as well. I’ll be back with friends and family for a longer stay. What a great place to do the wine country tours! All of this and my husband and I found it to be very affordable comparatively. So now, don’t go booking it up so I can’t go! :-)

We spent a night in the Parker Room. What an incredible experience. The Rosedell Mansion is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast that has been restored. You could almost visualize yourself back in the early 1900’s. It is decorated beautifully to represent the era in which it was built. Holli was so friendly and made a delicious breakfast of Eggs Benedict, hash browns, grapes, cinnamon roll, yogurt parfait with granola and fresh fruit, orange juice etc…
I will most definitely stay there the next time we are in Yakima. I give it 10

Large older home in one of the better neighborhoods of Yakima. ‘Old fashioned charm’ as a number of reviewers have noted. However this also means that it is a little run down and could use a good cleaning. The bed was incredibly hard and uncomfortable. The hostess was friendly but a little confused — when we showed up she did’t know what room we were in and in the morning forgot that my wife could not eat anything with pork.

Simply beautiful. Rooms are very comfortable and the bed was great. Holli is a wonderful host and the breakfast was excellent. The place is spotless.
I do think having cookies when you check in would be a nice touch., many B&B;s to that… but please do treat yourself and stay here. You won’t be sorry.

We had a lovely stay! The breakfast was very good and the house was very charming. Built in the early 1900s the house had original charm and architectural significance.

My family flew in from across the country to attend my son’s wedding near the B&B– a 3 month old up to 84 years. We had ALL the rooms in use for the weekend– we enjoyed each porch, had a surprise birthday party in the dining room, and an after hours gathering in the kitchen the night of the wedding!
Each bedroom, bathroom and common room was unique and distinctly decorated– fantastic! We booked the entire B&B and got a great rate– better than staying in any hotel in town. We had a most wonderful weekend.

I am so glad we stayed at Rosedell instead of one of the modern hotels downtown. Clean, super interesting old home, terrific huge front porch to relax on (and depending on your room, you’ll have another porch), Holli is lovely, it’s not at all a schmarmy B&B experience. Just utterly mellow and in a fascinating very old home. Any time I am back in the Yakima area, I’m definitely staying there.
The master bedroom is spectacular. Wish we could have booked that. My god, the bathroom was gorgeous. The tile! Swoon.
This would be a 5 star review if my mattress had been better and if I’d had access to cream for the k-​cup coffee. Total first world problems. I still think this place is fab.

I have been to Yakima a number of times and finally experienced something to write about. The breakfast was amazing and we loved the master room with huge shower and great private balcony. Wish I could live there.
Convenient location to fun places to eat and wine taste.

So, I still don’t «get» the B&B thing. I mean, it’s for newlyweds and romantic getaways, right? For normal people like me, what’s the appeal? Why choose a B&B when any old hotel will do?

Hi Bob,
You are right, but you’re also wrong. B&Bs can be wonderful places for those in love, but the romance doesn’t end when the honeymoon is over. Nor do we only travel during special events like anniversaries and birthdays. Sometimes we travel to get from one place to another; but when we do, it should be to see the things in-​between, not just reach our endpoint as fast as possible.
So, that’s where B&B roadtripping comes in. They make great places to stay, even for a single night, to get a sense of the local towns and cities you’re passing through. Slow down, take some time to walk around, and let your body relax a little before getting back up to highway speed. A good night’s rest will do wonders!
Great B&Bs, like the Rosedell, are often located in historic landmark structures in very nice and well established neighborhoods, and the owners are almost always extremely knowledgeable about their communities. They will have renovated the structure with lots of time, money, and TLC, and these human touches really shine.
Plus, you get to sleep in real beds surrounded by real furnishings and eat real meals with plates and silverware and honest-​to-​goodness actual people. Cats wander by, newspapers arrive on doorsteps, the day begins slowly and naturally, there is a familiar feel to the place even if you’ve never been there before.
The Rosedell B&B, housed in a historic mansion in a beautiful residential neighborhood, is a picture perfect example of what I mean. Literally!
We visited after Christmas, with snow on the lovely grounds and softly falling from the sky, with a lighted tree in the living room.
The second floor Turret Room somehow manages to be both spacious and secluded, with great big windows overlooking the grounds and street. The private bathroom is intimate and inviting, with lots of natural light and white tiled surfaces. You could spend days in the downstairs living area reading, relaxing, sipping tea, and listening to music. But if you don’t have that kind of time, even a few hours before breakfast will do.
Try the Rosedell on your next road trip through the Yakima Valley, Rob! It’s a great stopping point before heading West over the Cascades, and it would make a great base for wine tasting as well. Not all B&Bs can pull of affordable elegance the way that they do here.

very beautiful and quaint… with a little bit of something else… I LOVE old places with history, and this place is amazing. I had the pleasure of staying in the red room (cool little balcony) and the turret room. I really can’t say enough, and my stay was a little while ago, but my eggs Benedict for breakfast was DELICIOUS!

Stay in a lovingly restored «cowboy mansion.» Romantic, no fuss, great B&B for romantic wine country getaway. No fuss. Slam dunk.
As a frequent business traveler, if I stayed in Yakima, I’d stay here. VASTLY superior mattress, QUIET residential neighborhood, 3 minutes form downtown (how rare is that?). Enjoy my money going local than to a chain.
My wife keeps saying she should bring «the girls» here. I think I should bring the guys here.
Hosts are genial and obviously love the place and hosting.

Ruined the day after our wedding night. Claimed we broke things in our room (which we did not) and made us feel awful to the point of rage for me and my new bride in tears balling. Also claimed several guests complained about noise in our room the night of our wedding (Am I the only one who thinks thats kind of insane?) In actually we were having a good time all night at a seperate hotel and then basically crashed out at Rosedell in our «suite’ at Rosedell.
It’s also confusing when you enter. No front desk, no staff, we had to call Holli’s cell phone we got off their website and she seemed confused and distracted just told us to go up to our room. We were also given no sense of curfews, wierd b and b rules and etc.
My father in law got us the room as a wedding gift and we had no idea what the hotel rules were. Having said that, everything they claimed was lies. we were not noisy or breaking anything the night they claim. They seemed like they wanted to push us out to give space to someone else.
Rudest staff, strange vibe, nice house, but with staff like this so improperly trained and horribly ill mannered and cold, who would want to stay at this place, especially in the middle of nowhere for such a costly price?
We ended up at the Howard Johnsons for 35 bucks a night. Sadly this was a better hotel experience, what does that tell you about Holli and her staffs lack or skil as business owners or just as hosts to pleasing their guests? They felt more like odd hippy hotel gustrappo then real people. Very odd, very small town low class vibe. Like a buncha rejects from hippyville nowheresville were given the keys to some old persons mansion.
zero stars, avoid at all costs when in this strange and very dangerous city.

This was our first trip to Yakima and we consider ourselves lucky to have found the Rosedell. We had a really great time there. We stayed in the Parker room and enjoyed the tasteful furnishings and well appointed room.
My wife and I enjoy the Bed and Breakfast experience because we love to learn the history of these grand homes and we always run into fun people and friendly hosts.
Holli was not at the home during our stay but our dealings with her indicate that she knows how to take care of her clients. She arranged to let us stay past the normal check-​out time so we could take a nap prior to our flight
We recommend the Rosedell highly

Sweet greyish cat was sitting on the stairs to welcome us and blended well with the surroundings.
Peculiar beginning as we entered the house and nobody was there. kind of spooky but we found our way to our «red» room. When I shut the door it made the typical creaky sound. It kind of added to the old charm of the castle type home.
The restoration of this place is astounding and wonderous. From the grey stone to the rounded windows, to the stained glass, to the oak floors and stairs, classic.
This castle (I call it that because of the turret for one) is so lucky to have been embraced by Holly and family. They saw the uniqueness and the originality and the warmth of this place and brought it back up to where it should be.
Even though it’s a huge home it’s got a cozy vibe to it.
The furnishings, the lighting, the pictures all convey the various stages of time that have gone by.
The bathroom in our room even had a door for just the latrine itself. The latrine is that turquoise blue and it’s quite wide in back. The bath tub and the sink match and the sink is also of that large size. The tiles go even up to the ceiling as they should during that time period.
There are little porches all around as well as the great porch in back which they made quite lovely and comfy with places to sit and look out at the big old trees. The trees are full of different birds. Doug and I actually got up in the morning and sat on our little porch watching them.
The breakfast was divine. They served our meal using nice old china. We sat with all the other folks that were staying there and ate together. They baked us some eggs, mushrooms and cheese. We had a mini cinnamon bun, some wonderful berries in a delicious yogurt. The coffee was strong and good. Plenty of orange juice to drink.
We don’t usually like B&Bs as we like to keep to ourselves. The people running the place basically just leave you alone, yet you have all your needs met as there’s coffee any time you want as well as homemade cookies to come back to after you’ve been in town!
The ghosts left the cookies and us alone as well but I knew they were there just the same.

I was simply blown away by the experience for the money here. I stayed in the turret room and could not have been more pleased. Breakfast was served on my schedule and the Holli was a wonderful hostess.
Staying here is nothing like staying at the usual hotel in this price range, it is an experience where you step back in time. That said, you get to step back in time but still sleep in a comfy king-​sized bed and experience modern climate control. A power strip is provided near the bed so you can power your laptop while charging your phone and still have room for more.
The bathroom had a HUGE tub where I could stretch out and be completely under water. Very nice!
The house is beautifully restored and the grounds are lush and well maintained.
I see no reason to stay anywhere else in Yakima, unless you are looking to spend a lot less at a cheap motel.

How do I say this? To put it simply, everything was perfect and I found absolutely nothing to complain about.
We stayed in the master bedroom which was very spacious, nicely decorated. The view from the balcony overlooking a huge front yard and Yakima city (not that there was much to see) was very relaxing. I also loved their huge restroom. I must say I really did enjoy taking a nice long bath there.
I only wish the weather was a bit warmer and we had a little more time to really enjoy the rest of the house. Paul was a very nice host. He made us delicious egg Benedict. The breakfast was great. The portion was just about right EXCEPT I don’t have hot chocolate for a non– coffee drinker.

This place was awesome. From someone who was born and raised in Yakima, I feel proud that our city has such a nice B&B like this for visitors to stay in. We stayed in the Master bedroom which was spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. For how nice the room is the nightly rate was very reasonable. I want to take that bed home because it was so comfy, and the view was amazing.
Minutes from downtown Yakima, very nice neighborhood, and very cool historic house. Breakfast was delish! Wish I could stay at the Rosedell everywhere we went.
