Our Founder and President, Mark Bortman (CSBA)

In 2004, Mark Bortman, founder of Exact Solar, moved his family to Costa Rica for a year to learn more about alternative energy options. During that year, Mark had the extreme honor of working with a true pioneer in the solar water heating (solar thermal) field, a man who has been in the industry since the 1970s working in California, Arizona and Central America. That man, Bruce Carey, spent the year giving Mark invaluable experience and the education of a lifetime. When he returned to the Philadelphia area, Mark started Exact Solar. Initially specializing in installing solar water heating and pool heating systems (solar thermal), Exact Solar soon expanded to become a solar electric (photovoltaic or PV) systems installer as well.
