ABC Yonkers Barber Shop

So I’ve been going here for a while, and have seen barbers come and go from the spot. Normally they’re all pretty consistent. There’s a newish guy, first chair when you walk in. He’s nice, but it’s the second time now he’s cut my hair, and both times he’s cut me with the straight razor. he took so long for a simple clipper cut and fade (over 30 min) that my meter expired. So my $ 16 haircut turned into a $ 61 with the parking ticket. I like this place, but next time I’ll wait rather than let this dude near my head again.

Barber’s are inconsistent and have rushed through my cuts. From my last visit, barber cut up my neck from using the straight razor. Didn’t find out until I got home, so I decided to head back to speak with the barber and his manager to request a refund, but they closed shop approx. 20 minutes before closing time. Screw this spot

My husband gets his hair cut here every 3 or 4 weeks. They layered it correctly the first time and continue to give him the same excellent cut. The guys there are friendly and professional and they remember his style. I think it’s a good value at $ 15. We’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes on a weekend afternoon.

Jack has this place for years and him and his crew always do a good cut ! The wait is never to long the barbers are all good and the price is good !

Found these guys on Unilocal when I was in a pinch on a business trip. Came in on a Sunday, and not only did I get a clean cut, you could tell dude took a lot of pride in his work.

There is hair everywhere even in the bathroom!

I’ve been going here since 2000 before jack owned the shop. Jack is my guy and I politely ask to wait for him to be ready if yuri, Simone, or the new guy is ready. They don’t get angry or mad about it. The only thing jack asks me is «long or short?» As he knows exactly how I like my hair cut. Then we talk about everything else — families, work, vacation spots, good food in queens. They are also super accommodating to the elderly, handicapped, and kids. I highly recommend these guys.

I’ve been going here consistently for 2 years and I get a great haircut from each barber. This is the place to go for a good men’s haircut.

Alright here’s the deal with ABC: It is a decent place to go to for a men’s haircut. The problem is, you never get any consistency. Each of the barbers can spend time with you except they want to do an imperfect job. You’ll never really notice it because they are so nice and kind to you or they are super busy and rush you. Fool me once shame on me.
In the past year of going to them, I have felt like I have gotten taken care of, but when I leave, I always wind up disliking my hair, except for the 1 buzzcut I got with Jack (who I have found to be the nicest and most genuine of the 4). I’ve gone in and been told «I should be lucky I still have hair growing», «That’s the way your hair is», «I am the expert, don’t you trust me?» and all other kinds of reasons for why my hair is given a half-​assed job by the time it’s done. Fool me twice shame on you.
The final straw as to why I stopped going to them was when I got the Unilocal deal they have. I went and had it printed, ready to go (like it says on the deal) and Simon was hassling me and not understanding of the deal. In all honesty, why I lie about something like that? Standing there asking me about different prices and how much to pay when the sheet clearly said it was paid for made me uncomfortable and another barber had to reassure me that I wasn’t being questioned. I gave a tip (for what I don’t know) and left. I still wound up going home and having to fix my hair myself because Simon wouldn’t fix it. Three strikes and you’re out.
I’d rather find a different barber shop for the same price where they aren’t trying to rush through the job or questioning everything you ask them to do. I don’t want to be flattered by kindness just because you don’t want to do a job properly every time.

ABC IS A CUT ABOVE THE REST!
I’ve been coming to these guys for the last 12 years, and I don’t see any reason that I would go anywhere else. Sure since moving to Fort Lee, its 10 miles and 20 minutes away, but isn’t a good haircut worth it? The Russian barbers at ABC Yonkers Barber Shop have been a Yonkers Ave since 1999, and we hope they don’t go anywhere else.
When you come into the barber shop, you know right away that you’re not in a high-​end salon. You have entered the man-​cave and there are no girls allowed! The place has four chairs, but the customers that come here come for their regular barber and are willing to wait despite someone else being ready to take them. The names on the wall say the names of the current main barbers including: Yuri, Jack, and Simon. Yuri has been taking care of me for years and he’s always given me a fresh cut.
So what is it that this crew of Russian barbers that keeps the regulars like me coming back? Well, for starters, these guys remember their customers and serve as barbershop chair bartenders talking to you about whatever was going on in your life the last time you came in. These guys get bonus points for their memories, because they never forget a name or a cut. But here’s what REALLY separates these guys from Super Cuts. When you’re trimming your sideburns and squaring out the back of your head, these guys use hot shaving cream and a straight-​razor. Want to get a fresh shave? These guys are ready to throw on the hot towel and chisel off every wayward whisker from your cheek.
I make it back to ABC on a monthly basis and so should you. At only $ 14 for a fresh cut you know that you’re better off than any mall cut where they’ll push you out of the chair in 10 minutes. These guys take their time and do it right, so if it takes me 20 minutes and crossing a bridge to get there, then that’s what I’m going to have to do. Sorry Super Cuts, but as far as I’m concerned these guys will always be head and shoulders above you.
