Andrew is great! He is very sweet (as is his wife, who helped out on the shoot) and very patient. My husband and I have never had pictures done before (not to mention we were both tired at the time), but he helped us through the entire process. We were stunned that they came out so beautiful. Andrew is very professional — scoped out the best locations and lighting, etc. I had requested very natural pictures of my husband, our dog and I outdoors and he delivered — we look like a lovely family enjoying life. We will have these memories for a long time. Andrew is very talented and we are excited to work with him again.

It was such a pleasure to have Andrew Johnston as my sister’s bridal shower photographer. When I first spoke to him over the phone he was very friendly. He answered my many questions and concerns and was willing to work within my budget. He was easy to contact and always responded to my calls.
Andrew was prompt for the occasion and was very professional throughout the whole event. He was friendly with the guests and was flexible with any requests made by the bride to be. Andrew did a great job capturing every moment of the shower. He paid special attention to details. We were very pleased with the photos we received from Andrew. Andrew captured the event beautifully from portraits to candids, we were so pleased with his work and we received the photos right on time.

I work for a non-​profit based out of Central Florida that provides dream vacations for children with life-​threatening illnesses and their families. We recently hosted an event in Stamford, CT and, above everything else, I wanted it professionally photographed. Not knowing anyone that I could reach out to, I looked to Unilocal and emailed a dozen or so photographers in the area with my plea. Andrew was clearly the one for the job!
If you take one look at his work, there is no denying Andrew’s talent and passion for photography. The photos from our event exceeded even my highest of expectations. As a colleague and I were flipping through the shots, we oohed and awed uncontrollably as we saw each image for the first time. Whether the subject matter is adults, kids, mascots, food or decorations – he’s got an eye for how to capture the essence of it perfectly.
I couldn’t have asked for more beautiful photos… but friendly and professional service, too? Check and check. Andrew didn’t blink an eye at my obscure requests or the fast turnaround that was needed. I called Andrew the week before I arrived to NYC and told him that I was only going to be in town for 1DAY and that I was in dire need of engagement photos. At our photo shoot in Central Park, Andrew had already pre-​selected several places and angles for our pictures and this worked perfect for my fiancé and I’s tight schedule. But, not only did Andrew work with our tight schedule and budget, he also put the pictures online the evening following the photo shoot, edited our selected pictures within two days, and mailed our picture CD to us the following week.
As two people planning a wedding from different states, Andrew enabled us to make huge steps in our wedding planning process by aiding us with quality photos so that we can complete our «Save The Dates» and «wedding website.» We made up much of the lost time that we didn’t have the photos by him working so efficiently. Andrew is an amazing photographer, he has a great attitude and is able to get you to relax and bring out your best! He has an amazing style and he’s able to make what might seem ordinary extraordinary!

Best experience I could have hoped for, frankly. I know I wasn’t his highest-​paying client that week and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t even his highest-​paying client that day. However, I was treated like I was his only client. Even the dude that took my senior pictures back in the good ol’ Midwest made me feel like a chump when he realized he wasn’t getting a big payday out of me. Andrew was different. We decided on the terms of the project and the layout ahead of time and he did everything in his power to live up to that even when it meant extra time and extra work.
Also, this was not an easy project (as was made clear to me by every other photographer I spoke to). 13 different characters/​outfits/​poses/​looks in 2.5 hours (after set-​up). Andrew was as efficient as possible, willing to move on as soon as he knew we had the shot and, sure enough, the pictures turned out fantastic. He worked with all of my ideas and was quick to fill in the blanks when I wasn’t sure what I was doing.
Last bit: I love working on film but I hate being photographed. I feel like a moron making «look how awesome I am» poses and faces in front of a near-​stranger and I have a very difficult time loosening up because of that. This didn’t feel anything like what I’m used to – Andrew is such nice, chilled-​out guy that it just felt more like acting stupid in front of a buddy. With Andrew, you get the feeling that the guy’s actually on your side… which, in NYC, is an extremely rare thing. In any town, Andrew is an extremely rare photographer.

Andrew Johnston brings forth long-​standing passion and creative talent to each of his artistic sessions. His love for photography, in combination with a desire to present subjects in their most aesthetically pure forms makes Johnston a true master of his media. His style is independent and transcendent, making each experience one of intimacy and timelessness; these photographs are those that will be preserved for generations.
Though all of his work is outstanding, it is his candid style of portraiture which constantly amazes me. There is something about the way he captures the micro-​expressions and subtle facial features that allows the viewer to become attached with the photograph in an emotional, nostalgic way. In terms of character, Johnston is a great person to work with and is excellent at easing those nerves that some people bring to their first or second photo shoot. His calm demeanor, comforting smile, and positive attitude allow you to relax and truly enjoy being photographed.
In this day and age, when divas, scammers, creepers and cocky novices are numerous in the field of photography, Johnston stands out as a professional who takes his work seriously without compromising obvious congeniality. Even though he has won numerous awards at a young age, he has not let it go to his head, and consistently works to present his art form with grace and respect.
He has a great deal for a photo shoot, and in this crazy economy, it really helps to know you can still get inexpensive service without compromising on beauty, style, and overall quality.
I highly recommend this photographer to anyone living in the New York area.

Flexible and time-​efficient; fast turnover of photos; the photographer was really dedicated to getting the perfect shot; and he’s a great guy to be around!
He also gives you a CD with all the photos in their original size and quality. I told him the one or two I liked best and he retouched it for me, no problem!

There is not enough I can say about how great it was to work with Andrew. He is a great photographer, not only in that his artistic quality is amazing but also he is a wonder to work with. Andrew makes you feel comfortable and free to express ‘you’ which, coupled with a great artistic eye and a love for his work, makes for a truly fantastic photographer that I would recommend to anyone.
