The Cutting Edge

Just moved to Yonkers and have been looking for a place near me and hopefully affordable. I came across a Groupon that was a complete steal, after reading the reviews I bought the Groupon.
I can honestly say that I am so happy I did. I called in the middle of the week and they had an opening on a Saturday early afternoon which was exactly what I wanted. Nicole was great, friendly and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. The shop is so quaint and pretty. Everyone was friendly. I have found my new hair dresser. Her prices are amazing and I’m so looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Nicole.

Okay so I also had a huge problem getting This place on the phone, but…
Once I got an appointment I was 100% satisfied. Nicole is really talented. You would pay at least 3 times her prices in Manhattan for her level of service.
I am more than happy to just make my next appointment at the end of a service while I’m still at the store. Looking forward to my fourth visit.

I went there with a Groupon coupon for cut/​wash/​styling. I did not have a problem of getting an appointment, someone answered a phone and made an appointment right away. When I came in, I saw elder lady at the reception desk, I told her I have an aptm. and here is my Groupon coupon on the iPad. She looked grumpy and pointed me with that coupon towards younger lady in the back. So I guess it was Nicole (owner), she was cool, not chatty (like most Downtown Manhattan hairstylist), I told her what kind of haircut I want and she delivered it exactly what I had in mind. Salon itself seemed with trendy design, but located in the local suburban neighborhood. Elder lady at the reception, I just assumed was Nicole’s grandma or aunt. During early afternoon, there were a few elder ladies getting their hair puffed up (as someone mentioned earlier). I would go there again for inexpensive simple cut /​trim.

Nicole is an absolutely amazing person. I see some of the reviews here on the site, and it saddens me that they don’t see that this is a neighborhood hair salon where a lot of the older women in the neighborhood have a place to go to chat and get their hair done. I find them charming.
I went to Nicole with a Groupon as others have and she worked very hard on my hair, didn’t try to do less — as other salons will do – because she wasn’t getting paid very much, and did a wonderful job. So, I’ve gone back, and I found her prices to be reasonable and her efforts to be superb. This is a shop run by a young woman who may not always be perfect, but is a lovely human being and takes pride in doing very good work. It’s a little quirky here, and one cannot expect the type of service one would get out of downtown Manhattan salon. To me, this place is almost like the hair salon equivalent of the bar in «Cheers». There are a lot of characters in and out of here. You’ll either love them or hate them, but the fact is, you’ll get good work done here at a good price. Yes, sometimes Nicole does not answer her phone and that drives me crazy but the pluses outweigh the minuses in my opinion. It’s a matter of having a little bit of patience. She’s running the business by herself and that’s not easy. If you can’t be patient, you can go someplace else — but you’ll pay twice as much for the same thing.

I bought a Groupon for a full head of highlights. I called multiple times to try and set up an appointment and for a week phone just rang with no amswer. Finally it was answered by the lady everyone else commented about. She seemed rude and had no answers and kept telling me to call back to wait for Nicole. At this point I was just going to refund my groupon and move on. I AM SURE Glad I DID NOT DO THiS! ONCE I spoke with Nicole she was great .
This place is not cozy and they will. not offer you drinks or snacks, it is loud with a lot of older women chatting it up which kind of made me smile. Nicole is amazing! Young, personable and tak es her business seriosuly. My hair. never looked better and I will be going back before my wedsing for a touch up.
The only reason I did not. give 5 stars is because of the struggle I had prior to meeting Nicole about setting up an appointment and because of the lady who answers the phone.

I went here once and it was okay. It was just for a wash and haircut. Nothing out of the ordinary.
My reason for 2 stars:
1) My birthday is next week on the 8^th and for months every time I try to set a date to come in, they are always booked. I feel like going in person and seeing what the real deal is.
I call and ask «do you have an availability for tomorrow»
reply is «what are you looking to have done?»
me «well I have a groupon for the full package»
reply is «we are booked until next week»
My question is, why ask what I am looking to get done? Are they discriminating because I have a Groupon versus straight up cash? I am hoping Groupon refunds my boyfriend ASAP and I will look at another place to get this stuff done. What a struggle this is…

Absolute most unprofessional hair salon I’ve ever been to. I ended up trying out this hair salon because it was close to my house. Big mistake! Nicole was my hair dresser. She had promised my hair would be be very blonde. And I had also asked for long layers, my hair was very long. Ending result, my hair color looked the same as when I came in and my hair was chopped, uneven, and a lot shorter than I asked. My bangs are way too short. Worst part of all of this, she somehow turned pieces of my hair PINK. She had friends in and out of the salon and was more concerned about her conversations than my hair. I would recommend that anyone thinking about going to this salon take their business elsewhere. From my experience, it was terrible.

I never even came here but got the worst service over the phone. I drove by this hair salon one day last week and saw a sign up for a $ 20.00 blow dry. Normally blow drys are 30 and up everywhere else especially since my hair is pretty thick. So I wanted to call to see if that deal was still being honored, the lady at the front desk was eating her food while talking to me on the phone, I couldn’t even understand a word she was saying, I asked her if the 20 blow dry was still available and she had no idea what I was talking about. I said the sign is up at the window that you guys are offering $ 20 blow dry. She then put me on a 5 minute hold to see if that was true, she then got on the phone after 5 minutes of waiting and told me yes they are doing that offer, then I asked if it ranges if you have thick hair she told me she wasn’t sure, then she puts me on hold again for another 5 minutes and gets back on the phone and Says she’s not sure. So I asked if I can make an appointment to come in that day she then told me she can’t because the lady who does blow drys isn’t there. How are you even in business offering such a cheap offer then stating that you can’t do it because she isn’t there that day to do the blow drys?! How stupid! Then I asked if I can come in on Saturday to do my hair and blow dry that day and she states the lady still won’t be in! What salon doesn’t do blow drys on a Saturday?! It’s a Saturday?! How ridiculous! The receptionist was a complete idiot. She should know the special offers going on and pricing of everything I mean that’s your job! Why else are you sitting answering phones? I don’t even want to bother going there because they seem like they don’t know what the hell there doing.

I found this fabulous salon called the cutting edge hair salon through a groupon. I got lost at first and realized the salon is going up the hill from palisade avenue I even found a great pizza parlor. The salon is next to an adorable shoe repair shop.
The cutting edge salon is the Best kept secret I swear. Their prices were so good
They cut, color and took the time to help me select a new up to date hair style
I saw young college students and young fellows too getting hair buzzed too.
It’s a unisex salon for everyone’s hair. I saw older clients and new moms like me who just need a new hair do … What a great cut and color. wow. I just love them… Great style. great prices… Try them. You will love them too. Thanks for my new hair .D
