First Baptist of Yorba Linda

First Baptist Yorba LInda is a small historic church which it’s members would love you to join worshiping with them.
I have attended services there for over 20 years and have made many friends. We are
varied in ages young to old. We offer Bible Studies throughout the week for men and women and sunday school for kids.
Our Pastor teaches directly from the bible and truly loves the Lord. The church leaders all have a heart for our Lord and a genuine care for people. Our praise band has welcoming music for all. See you soon !

We had our wedding at First Baptist Yorba Linda this summer (2014). The coordinator was easy to work with, took care of all our details and made it simple for us. The facilities were exactly as we expected, and the pictures were beautiful. We’re really grateful to have discovered FBYL so our small church wedding had a home.

I have been going to this church for 26 years. I now reside in the Bay Area but whenever I am home, I attend every Sunday and chance I can get. I’ve been to a lot of churches across California — mega churches, average size, and small and intimate churches. This by far is the church I call home and love the small atmosphere of 100 people. They welcome you with open arms and love everyone that walks in the door.
They believe in the word of God and have sermons that relate to the entire congregation. I have also seen over 75 weddings in this church and they are always beautiful and done extremely well. The people who work at the church (whether they are volunteers or paid) make your experience the best! They will always work their hardest with God’s love shining behind them.
I would recommend this church for worship, support, weddings and many more things to anyone.

I’ve only been attending this church for the past couple months, but I can say that it’s obviously going through many changes. There’s a solid childrens ministry developing with facilities to match, a new youth program, and a young adults service in the making. The congregation is very hospitable, welcoming, and willing to feed anyone they can! The pastor is a teddy bear; he loves the Lord and wants nothing more than for others to know firsthand that the Lord loves them.
The church is still working out tweaks, and probably forever will be, as is the nature of churches, but they’re on the right track. Having different ministries in the prototype stages also means that they need to work on them some more too, but they’re a Bible believing and Bible teaching church, so they’re pretty dependent on the Word of God to lead them in the different decisions regarding these areas.
But, just like when listening to sermons, don’t believe everything you’re told! Check it out for yourself to see whether my description is accurate or not.

Very friendly outgoing nice people go to this church. The pastor is a loving God-​fearing pastor.

I could spend half a day writing about how horrible the wedding coordinator and the pastor at this church are, but the only thing I’d really accomplish is giving myself a headache. I’ll just write a quick note to serve as a warning to anyone else who considers planning a wedding here.
My wife grew up a few miles from this church and always thought it would be a great place to get married. We both attended another Baptist church, but the old fashion look and history behind this church made us think it would be a cool place to get married. It really would have been a wonderful place to have a wedding if it wasn’t for the utterly insane staff there.
In a nutshell, we made our plans to have our wedding and reception here at 11 am on a Sat. We had a couple short meetings with the wedding coordinator (who informed us this is the first wedding /​reception she’s ever done), and everything seemed to be progressing smoothly. Then, a week before the wedding, the wedding coordinator informed us that she wouldn’t be able to unlock the church the night before the wedding to let people setup. She said she had «other plans that night» and she couldn’t send anyone else to take her place.
Additionally, she said she wouldn’t be able able to show up at the church until 9am, two hours before the wedding was scheduled to start at 11 am. There is no way the entire sanctuary and outdoor reception could have been setup in 90 minutes (guests arrive half hour early) the day of the wedding. It was ludicrous to even contemplate. Her reasoning for why she couldn’t open the church any earlier than 9am was quote «I usually don’t wake up before noon, so it’s going to be really hard for me to get up by 9. Getting to the church by 8 am is just way too early for me».
Despite the total insanity of this, we were as polite as possible and in the end told her that we would hire another wedding coordinator and all we would ask of her is to simply unlock the door of the church either the night before, or 8 am the day of the wedding. She completely refused. This was two days before the wedding. Several hours after this conversation, a pastor named Cliff called me literally yelling in the phone about how we «demanded way too much of his wedding coordinator, must not be christians, and he informed us if we showed up on Saturday for our wedding he wouldn’t unlock the church and he’d call the police». Sounds crazy because it was. I picked up the phone and basically got yelled at for 5 min straight. It was a 5 min screaming monologue by this nutcase. After he ran out of breath, he hung up on me when I tried to ask what the heck was going on. This was two days before our wedding. It was the craziest thing I ever experienced.
Needless to day, we immediately changed the venue to our own church. The wedding coordinator there is pretty much the most awesome, helpful person on earth and did a tremendous favor of getting everything put together in 48 hours and the church looked beautiful. It took 6 hours to setup the wedding and reception, so obviously it would never have happened in 90 minutes. Anyone with a brain could probably figure that out.
Anyway, the church kept (should I say stole?) our $ 375 deposit. I sent a letter asking for it back because it was not our choice to cancel. They told us they wouldn’t unlock the place, what choice did we have but to use another venue? I planned to take them to court, but after a few months had passed I figured it just wasn’t worth the time and effort. God can be the judge of the man who steals money from a newly wed 21 year old couple and calls himself a pastor. We never got the deposit back.
Anyway, I wrote way more than I planned to. Hopefully this saves someone else some of the craziness that befell the days leading up to our wedding.
