Camelot Inn and Suites

It was a year ago that I stayed here — admittedly not the best circumstance to write an accurate review — however this place left enough of an impression.
So what was I doing in York, Nebraska? While traveling from Estes Park to Chicago, York had the improbable fortune of being a) located on I-​80 and b) where I was at at 11PM. My friend and I had chosen Camelot as an inexpensive place to sleep for 6 hours before getting back on the road. At $ 40 for two clean beds and a deadbolt on the door we had everything we needed.
One of the benefits (I assume since I never had the pleasure of making my way into it) of the Camelot is ‘The Lounge’, an attached bar/​entertainment venue. Waiting to check into the room, luck would stumble out of The Lounge and into the lobby. By luck I mean a beer bellied, sleeveless, middle aged man sporting a dirty trucker hat. A few sideways steps to the left he manages to plant steady, light the cigarette dangling from his lips and fart before weaving his way out the door and into the Nebraska night. It was a sight to behold.
The check in staff was friendly and conversational as the process seemed to drag on a bit. The rooms were what we expected and paid for: simple and a bit outdated but large, clean and serviceable. Noise did not seem to be an issue, but we were exhausted. The continental breakfast was set up in a cool 50’s diner that I rather enjoyed. The selection and food however was middle of the road. Camelot gives you what you pay for — reasonable but worn accommodations mixed with some Midwest charm… and luck.
