El Rodeo is located off of Route 30 and isn’t exactly a looker when it comes to aesthetics; however, they have ample parking and it is easy to go in to get seats. Aesthetics really don’t apply when it comes to food, and on that topic, the food is really good! The service is really quick and the waitresses are extremely attentive. It is very easy to go in, order, get your food, and then leave. Overall, the food is fantastic, the only thing holding El Rodeo back from me given them a 5 is that they aren’t very polished. El Rodeo’s ambiance is very upbeat. They play Mexican traditional music, which does not add to the volume of the restaurant. I would say that it is a medium loudness. Along with this, the overall color of the room is brightly colored. I would definitely recommend anyone to stop by El Rodeo, as long as you don’t judge a restaurant by its appearance. What’s inside trumps the negatives ten fold. El Rodeo is a unique and fun place and I really don’t have that many bad things to say.

Here late on the fifth of May. Had a reasonable 25 minute wait. It would have been nice to hit the bar while waiting but it is very small and was elbow to elbow. The décor was festive and the drink specials added to the celebration. I hope the Wall doesn’t slow the flow of XX beer ! It was very good the especial lager complimented the chips and salsa, the salsa was not spicy but there was hot sauce on the table to amp the heat. I had Nacho Supreme and a co worker had the 6 taco special. Fast friendly service would defiantly return.

Went @ 830 on May 5th no room at the bar, it was very small staff seemed tired which is quite understandable on there version of super Sunday. After a 22 min wait we were seated in a nice comfortable booth. We were Promptly seen by the Dealer with fresh chips and salsa and our drink order was taken. Moments later a bucket of XX made its way to the tablet and our food order was sent. The table orders were the walking five taco special, nacho supreme and flan? Yum only had to spice un the salsa with hot sauce, everything else was spot on.

If you have any dietary restrictions don’t go there. I have been here many times now but twice have been served meat in vegetarian dishes. the salsa is never consistent — sometimes good and sometimes bad. For me a restaurant is not honest if they cannot serve you what you asked them to.

Recently ate lunch at this El Rodeo location… I’ve been to another one in Harrisburg before… THEGOOD… –easy to park –seated promptly –chips were okay –veggie fajitas were okay –pretty inexpensive THEBAD… –fajita veggies did not come out sizzling –not enough fajita soft shells –no pico di gallo –was an extra charge for hot sauce –salsa with chips could have been better –had to ask twelve hot sauce –service overall was lacking and the restaurant was pretty dead Overall, this experience was sub par. It wasn’t awful, but pretty unlikely I’d return for reasons outlined above.

I definitely recommend this place! Went here looking for a margarita after checking Unilocal for a close Mexican restaurant and I was not disappointed. Ended up getting food as well. Food was delicious and it was apparent that everything was fresh. Waitress was friendly and helpful and it has a good vibe inside. Check it out!

This El Rodeo is one of my favorite places to eat out, period. The staff is always polite and attentive, and I’ve never had a bad meal there. most of the menu is very authentic but they also offer some of the Ameri-Mex dishes with which most people are familiar. York is actually blessed with a number of quality Mexican restaurants but this one stand above. I recommend the Trio Tacos. One steak, one chicken, and one carnitas. The housemade hot sauce is great, it’s got a bite without being too spicy. It’s not the easiest location to get to for most people which is unfortunate, but worth the pain to go. Only complaint is their salsa isn’t as good as it was when I first went. Still has a great taste but the original was chunky and had more cilantro. Check it out you won’t be sorry.

Dumpy place. The area inside the entrance door was littered with spilled candy. Low lighting, but maybe that was because the lights had layers of dust and grime on them. The food was so-so and service took forever.

El Rodeo has been my go to Mexican spot for a number of years and for good reason. It has reined as the supreme Mexican joint in York county since I moved here in 1998. It has been a fair and gentle ruler over the York County Mexican restaurant hierarchy. The food choices are endless. The décor is vibrant and authentic; hand-carved chairs and tables allow you to feel as if you’re at a Mexican restaurant in Mexico City. The staff is always on the ball and presented neatly. The food I had for my last visit gave my tastebuds a thrill ride of epic proportions. I ordered the Trio Tacos and was utterly unprepared for the black magic they’d perform on my tastebuds. After each taco I thought to myself«That was the best taco I’ve ever had! «The tacos accented each other perfectly. Each one had a different type of meat concealed within its double wrapped tortia cover. After I’d finished them off I was in shock. It took me a full five minutes of Manderin Mexican soda sipping and complimentary chip munching to fully come around after the tender tri-affair. This the first 5 star review I’ve ever given. El Rodeo deserves each every star I’m giving it. Rock on El Rodeo, rock on.

Food is good. Service is so bad that I’ll get the food to go next time. I ordered black beans, they brought refried beans covered with cheese. Cheese isn’t on my vegan diet. The server dropped and ran, and I’ve not seen a server since. I’m out of water, salsa, and there’s still that cheese issue. Maybe I should phone the restaurant and see if they can locate a server?

I was born and raised in york pa, now living in burke va, right outside of dc. This is our one of two spots when I come to visit my parents. We love everything! I dont know what the cheese is they put on everything but gosh is it good. Ive tried beef nachos, chile con queso, burritos, enchiladas, hard and soft tacos, and the chimichangas– fried, and the churros. All the main dishes come loaded with extras. Everything is super affordable. Lunch for 3 with an app, main, and dessert, plus drinks– $ 35.

I’ve been coming here for years. I’ve always had two favorites; the chalupa Texana and now nachos deluxe. Both delicious dishes that are very affordable. Food usually comes within 10 minutes at most, I definitely recommend. Not most Mexican places compare to this!

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant ever. We have been going for years and we still compare all other places to this for the authentic Mexican food.

This place is always busy and it’s because of the delicious food and great service. It may not be on the menu, but do yourself a favor and try the horchata! It’s a rice milk with cinnamon flavor. Refreshing and cool! Wonderfully complimentary on the palette with spicy dishes. Also, the enchiladas poblano mole is to die for.

Tonight’s service was quick and efficient. My friend had chicken quesadilla rellena was very flavorful with side of rice. The hubby and I had the chicken chimichanga which was fried just enough to be slightly crunchy. They were filled with shredded chicken topped with lettuce, tomato, and guacamole. Ordered the queso, with free chips and salsa. The queso had a slight kick with the bits of jalopeno. Overall this was great food and great service.

I love El Rodeo. Returning to York, it’s my first stop for the lunch chimichanga special and fried ice cream. Chips and salsa are awesome. They have recently changed their policy on the complimentary chips and salsa refills to where the first bowl of each is free. Be ware, the homemade hot sauce is really hot. Tasty but seriously hot!!! It’s a must stop place on a trip to York!

I have never liked Mexican food. That is until my husband and son brought me to El Rodeo. The portions are huge and full of flavor. Not a bunch of hot sauce, but real vegetable, beef, chicken etc flavor. No masking their food. It’s truly delicious! the wait staff have always been great. You can order your food special if you like to. Ground beef vs shredded beef… vegetables steamed instead of fried.

I went to this place with my sister and her 2 children. The place was doing a good amount of business when we walked in, and I was hopeful, as I love Mexican food. We were seated, and after about 10 minutes our flustered server came over to take our order. Before she was able to run off, I asked for chips, salsa, and some lime wedges. We got chip crumbs, murky salsa, and dried limes. Hoping the meal would be better, we were disappointed again, as we were served our lukewarm meals sans the black beans we asked for. We flagged the server, and asked for the beans which she promptly brought back. However, it was clear that they came directly from the can, no salt, pork-belly or spice added and not heated… flavorless! We asked for the check, and noticed that there was 20% gratuity included. Being a Bartender/Server myself, I found this very odd, as there were only 4 of us at the table, and 2 were children under 10. I asked the table behind me if there was gratuity added on there check, and they said«no». Being a fan of Scooby Doo, The Three Investigators, and The Hardy Boys, I decided to get to the bottom of this plot which was definitely thickening. I asked the Manager at the cash register why it was added, and he said«Because the computer randomly adds it to checks». I was flabbergasted! I told him to «remove the gratuity immediately, and it was clear that they were up to no good, which was comparable to the quality of the food which is only marginally authentic. We didn’t ask for anything to be taken off the bill which clearly should have been comped, and he assumed that we would be bad tippers, which is why they added it, hoping it would slip by our eyes.» He did remove the gratuity, and the black beans. We paid, tipped and left. I will NEVER return to that joke of a restaurant. It appears that customer service has gone the way of the Dodo Bird, particularly in this«Mexikitsch» eatery. You would do well to steer clear of this«Ol’ Rodeo».

Been here a few times and the food is consistently good and service OK. But we were a bit disappointed when we recently tried them for takeout. The food was prepared quickly, although there was some confusion about which items were ours when we arrived and the cashier seemed annoyed to have to deal with takeout orders. The food was decent and still warm enough when we got home. But they’ve become very stingy with the tortilla chips and salsa! They provide you with a free small brown paper bag of chips – about 7 or 8 chips – not even half what you get in the basket when you dine in. Want more? You can pay $ 1.50 for another tiny bag or a whopping $ 8 for a regular-sized bag with a cup of salsa! Next time we’ll probably just stick with Chili’s for takeout. Food ready in 20 minutes and you can get a big bag of tortilla chips and two tubs of their tasty fresh salsa for $ 3.
