Description

Specialties

HIVE artspace specializes in original artwork for all tastes and price ranges, with monthly rotating themed exhibits showcasing both emerging and established artists from around the country, with an emphasis on regional artists.

History

Established in 2012.

HIVE artspace started as an artists’ collective called Philosophy Collective, which eventually evolved into HIVE artspace Gallery and Artist Studios. The gallery room in the front of the space initially served as a place for the resident artists to show their work, then was opened up to other artists in the York, PA community, and soon started attracting artists from beyond York. In November 2013, the front gallery space was expanded into the rear former-studio space, making the entire first floor into the gallery area, co-run by Hollie Chantiles and Susan Scofield. In early 2015, Hollie left the York area to pursue other adventures, leaving Susan as the sole proprietor of the HIVE artspace Gallery. The popularity of this «delightfully unconventional» gallery space has grown to draw record crowds during their First Friday opening receptions for the monthly group shows with rotating themed exhibits, now boasting artists from as far away as Athens, Greece!
