Uncommon Threads specializes in all types of yarn with a focus on natural fibers. We carry a variety of needle brands and crochet hooks. We also carry a wide variety of patterns and books.

We teach all types of knitting classes from beginner to advanced.

History

Established in 1999.

Uncommon Threads was started by 5 friends who had a common love of knitting but who came from very different backgrounds. Today, 10 years later, 2 of the original partners remain and still have the passion and love for knitting.

Very friendly and care about people enjoying the art, but selection is small as it is a small space. Prices are also high for boutique yarn. Some very nice interesting yarns though.

Great selection of yarns and very friendly and knowledgable staff. I wish they had more classes on Saturdays or evenings. The woman working let me know about the free patterns on
and helped me find the yarn I needed for a certain hat pattern. I signed up for their email notifications and they send maybe one every month or so which is nice.

If I was going on selection alone, this little yarn shop would get 5 stars. I bumped them down to 4 because their shop hours are a little bit haphazard and inconvenient, which makes it difficult for me to fit trips into my work schedule. Their yarns are top quality, their prices are fair, and the shop is always full of friendly people. They don’t mind if you sit for a while and look at their endless stock of patterns. I have yet to fit any of the classes into my schedule, but hope to do so soon.
