Charming Charlie’s, Kirklands, Kohls, DSW… all good stores and pleasantly surprised that the mall has turned into anchor stores now from the outside. It appears they have a few more spaces for some new stores. Looking forward to seeing what they will put in. Too bad Macy’s no longer resides here.

They aren’t playing. Was there in May and went back last week to find they demolished everything from Macy’s/Wal-Mart towards the movie theater. The center will be kept for last and the dry wall is already being set up for the Kohl’s side for that side to be demolished in phase 2. A shame Macy’s will be closing and screwed up the plans already. Wonder what big box anchor will fill the slot now.

Stopped here to kill some time and ended up staying about 15 minutes. Almost every store in this mall has been closed. Do not waste your time stopping here. Hopefully the owners will bring in some new stores.

Seems like once Wal-mart walled off it’s entrance to the mall, everything has gone down hill. This is more a commentary on the shoppers of this mall, not the mall itself. Only thing left was a few sports store, bath and body works, little candy shop and of course the movie theater.

It’s not often I give only 1 star, however the West Manchester Mall is currently on life support. For what used to be the première mall in York, this place seems like it could close on any given day. Without Walmart and the movie theater, this place very well could go belly up. I have never counted, but I’d be willing to bet there are almost as many vacant storefronts as there are operating businesses here. It isn’t that the stores here are not good, it is just that the mall doesn’t get much traffic. If you are looking for a nice mall, this is definitely not the place.

Other people have said it, and it’s true. This was the ‘nice’ mall in the eighties, became the ‘tier two’ mall in the nineties. Now it looks like something out of a documentary about the recession. Closed stores outnumber open ones. A few shops look like they must be a front of money laundering scam, because they’re open year after year with no customers. The few that thrive are Wal Mart and the movie theater, because that’s a choice people make on location and ignore the rest of the mall. This place should just be shut down. Call Dr. Kevorkian. Mercy kill this place.

One floor mall with a subway a pizza place and a auntie annes as its food court… the main reason it stays in business is because there is a movie theatre there and a walmart… businesses come and go

I remember when I first arrived in York back in the late 80s, this was a very decent mall to go to and it had a great selection of quality stores. There were also fountains that added to the décor and ambiance. Additionally, this was a family friendly place and had something for everyone. This was the place to be in York, until the Galleria opened across town in 1989. After that, things started going south. Over the course of the 90s and into the millenium, the mall began on a downward decline. Many smaller national stores began closing and they were replaced with lower quality shops. Furthermore, the Walmart underwent extense renovations and in the process sealed itself off from the mall. As of this writing, Value City located at the opposite end of the complex from Wal Mart is weeks, if not days from shutting it’s doors for good, thus decreasing the number of visitors to the area. As mentioned by Taylor, the theater is the place that keep people coming to the mall, and FYE to a lesser degree. The Macy’s, IMO is in a terrible location and imbalances the mall in a bad way. Frankly, this store should be at the Galleria. I rarely go there anymore unless a decent movie is playing or to check something out at Macy’s. It’s really a depressing place to go now and the majority of the people at the mall are rowdy kids. Not a hospitable place. Hopefully this mall can be given a new life.

This mall used to be great when it had a Hecht’s, a Gap, and a mall entrance to Wal-Mart… WHATTHEHELLHAPPENED? This mall has turned ghetto. There is more than one store in the mall now(large spaces I might add) that are catering to the urban style. I don’t have a problem with that, but there aren’t any stores to balance that out. Bön-Ton? Please, that place doesn’t have a selection to save it’s life… but more than the sad excuse for a Macy’s that bought out Hecht’s. I’ve never walked through a store(that wasn’t going out of business) that was as sparsely stocked as this Macy’s is. The Gap got run out long ago(now replaced by one of the aformentioned«urban» stores) and they walled up the Wal-Mart entrance from the mall, forcing you to move your car to the Wal-Mart end of the mall so you don’t have to walk outside and around to get there. There are so many empty stores that you can’t even get excited to go shopping while there, there just aren’t enough stores. Redeeming qualities? A large FYE store for music and the good movie theatre.(If it wasn’t for the theatre I don’t think that people would go to the mall at all.) Also, there’s a fairly big Hallmark store too. WOW… This place isn’t even worth going to unless you are sure they have what you are looking for. There’s definitely not enough going on here to window shop for any amount of time at all.
