Nice One Nails

When me and my friend went in late morning one weekend, it wasn’t busy at all. There were maybe two people in there and two people working on them. A woman yelled to us asking if we had a reservation. No. Did we still want to get our nails done? Yes. Come back in half an hour. Ok. Did we want to make a reservation? No, we’ll come back in half an hour.
Based on another review I think I had the same guy do my nails. I went in to get a pedicure at 8 months pregnant. I went one other time during the 2^nd trimester with no issues somewhere else. From the beginning to the end, which by end meaning when I told him to just stop even though it wasn’t finished, it was painful. I’ve never had a pedicure in my life that was painful. I asked him a couple times to be more gentle and nothing changed. He drew blood from two different toes. When I saw blood on the second toe, I told him to stop and I was done. The (manager? owner?) overheard since she was taking care of my friend and said she would finish. At that point I said I didn’t want anything else done, my feet were in pain and I didn’t want any polish in open wounds. She told me she would just put clear and seemed annoyed when I told her again, I didn’t want any polish and I was finished. I wasn’t rude about it, just said matter of factly I don’t want polish getting in cuts I had on my feet now since I’m pregnant. She told me he apologized many times in Korean and «we’re human, we make mistakes.» You can make mistakes, maybe slipping and drawing blood once would’ve been a mistake. But the entire pedicure made it clear that this guy had no clue what he was doing and this should not be his profession. She then told me he drew blood because since I was pregnant, my skin was more sensitive. Uhhh, no. If my skin was more sensitive I probably would’ve thought it hurt more but the fact that he drew blood showed everyone else he was doing something wrong. My skin was just fine. I’m surprised this place is still open.

The lady who runs this place is very short, which is super unwelcoming. I got tricked into getting shellac (which she did 5 layers & it lasted a really long time) and ended up paying $ 40. Would only come back if I was in a jam.

Great that I got right in last minute on a Friday but the add on pedicure salt never touched my feet… only my legs??? The nail filing was not so great I had to correct. The top coat was not shiny but sticky.
They all tried to upsell me on gel nail polish.
I would go here in a pinch but with choices I’d go elsewhere.

I hate giving anyone a 1 star review but having gone through cosmetology school and family members working in the industry, I know what’s unacceptable.
I took my mom out for her birthday. She got a full set, I got a pedicure. The gentleman working on my moms nails was really nice and made small talk with my mom. Thats the ONLY reason I’d give them a star at all (plus I can’t give less than that).
Her nails were crooked and terribly thick. He cut her finger a few times and he glues himself to her hand on accident. He used enough acetone to unstick them but didn’t bother to clean the chunks of glue residue off my moms hand. She asked for the pink gel, didn’t get it. $ 25 dollars later, shes a bloody gluey mess and didn’t even get the color she asked for.
My pedicure experience was worse. The lady was rude and short with her words. I don’t believe they properly clean their water basins because there was still leftover blue water in the basin next to me. The water was less than room temperature and not very relaxing. Another client came in for a waxing and I was left for 20 minutes stilling in stagnant, cold water. Once the waxing was done, the lady finally came back to me and started pushing my cuticles down with a metal tool. I think she was in a hurry to get me out and was rough in the process. After removing my cuticles with the metal tool and cuticle scissors (which are frowned upon) my toes were sore. There was no message and I saw her pull a used sanding block from a metal waste bin and she began sanding my feet.
I also don’t think she was fond of the pink glitter polish I picked out, and grabbed a different pink, non glitter polish instead.
All the while, 2 seats from me was another lady getting a pedicure. She had a small question about a funny spot on her nail, she assumed was fungus from this shop. The lady who was doing my pedicure (I think was the owner) started saying a bunch of nonsense about how fungus and lawsuits are all the customers fault
«Wearing bad shoes, not drinking enough water, not enough sunlight, wanting to sue and make money»… blah blah blah. Basically saying the customer was a liar, its not fungus, and if it is, its your fault.
That’s disturbing…
She tried to upsell about 100 different things to me, waxing, manicure, etc etc… I just wanted the pedicure.
My mom left with crooked nails and I left with sore toes.
I never saw her sanitize my water basin or the metal instruments she used to stab my feet. I didn’t see them sanitize any work stations either.
This is not a good place to go unless you like paying for pain, berating, and a bad manicure.

Love these people, Hard working and very clean place.
I have the worst hands in the world and when Chris gets done with them I dont even recognize my own hands. I started having her do my pedicures and couldnt believe the difference. I have been to other places and had the same work done but not with the attention to detail.
This is where they make their living and are there 7 days a week and all day every day!!!
I have never been more satisified than when i go there to get my hands and feet done!

I’m in the industry, and I’ll be honest. It’s been real hard to find a good nail salon that isn’t too much money, AND does a good job. Until I came here! I know how to do a professionally pedi, but when your on your feet 5 – 6 days a week you want to relax and have it done! They are nice, clean (everything comes out of a package), and not expensive! Destiny (I believe is her name) was AWESOME! My toes require minor surgery and she executed it with precision! I give only four stars because the décor isn’t fancy, but really who cares?

I used to come here throughout high school, about 5 years ago. During high school this place was cool. The nails were OK but the service was terrible. They lady who owns it is always in a hurry, rude, and speaks half English half Chinese (I’m assuming here). For me, it was very hard to understand her and I had to keep repeating what I wanted because she kept pointing to something more expensive on the list of services. Secondly, she was so rude to me and said my normal nails were ugly and that she would have to charge me for a manicure first before my full set of acrylics. UMM WHAT?! How about no. I know my nails aren’t beautiful, that’s why I’m getting fake ones on… Also, she is kind of expensive for services rendered. She’s always running around too. Once she was doing two people’s nails at once. If you’re busy, hire people! I now prefer to go to the Nail salon on Huron River Drive next to the McDonalds behind Eastern Michigan University’s campus. The lady who owns it is so nice, talkative, and clean! She only accepts cash, but who cares when I’m getting prettier nails and better service!

Ok, so I was a little hesitant to write this review because I think this nail salon does a good job on nails. The staff is friendly enough and the place looks clean enough as well. My problem with this place is that I was unable to locate the sterilization machine. I asked two times if they had one since it was not in plain view and I was unable to get an answer. One of the staff members did say Yes, they had one. I asked where it was and he pointed to some nail polish, so I am pretty certain he did not understand what I was asking and could not communicate clearly to me in english. Before I actually take the next step of reporting them to the Board of Health for this violation, does anyone who reads this, know for certain if they do have a sterilization machine? Please post on Unilocal if they do because I have yet to confirm this and please email me as well. Unfortunately this is the only other nail salon in the area that I know of that does a good job. There is one other nail salon in ypsi nearby (I cannot remember name) but the technician cut me with her cuticle scissors. Luckily they did have a sterilization machine. So I guess if you live in Ypsi you need to choose between getting cut or possibly developing some terrible disgusting infection. Maybe I need to move.
