Awesome classic diner experience! Best breakfast in the Basin by far. Service was timely, friendly. Portions are huge — massive plates of biscuits and gravy, French toast was buttery and delicious. Eggs and coffee top-ups on point and they even have lighter fare like turkey sausage, veggie omelette etc. Highly recommended!

Really good diner food. It can get very busy on the weekends since it’s such a small place. All the employees are really nice. Be sure to bring cash they do take credit cards for payment but tips are only cash. Best place for breakfast in a small town.

I found this place on Unilocal last week, while visiting Yucca Valley. I went there for breakfast at 7 am and the place was already filling up with locals and tourists. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted with a smile and a friendly hello. The waitress who helped me called me «Mija,» which was very sweet. I had the order of pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon, and a side of fruit — and it was all very good. Their fruit bowl was especially great! Most places give you mostly honeydew melon and cantaloupe in a fruit bowl, but C&S had all sorts of fruit in theirs — it was great. I lingered for an hour, enjoying breakfast and reading the paper, and no one rushed me out — which was a great way to prepare for the drive back to L.A. If I am very back in Yucca Valley, I will definitely have breakfast at C&S again. Note: They accept credit cards for the total, but not for tips — so you have to leave the tip in cash.

Absolutely the best little diner. They had a great breakfast, service and food was excellent. A must stop if you’re in this area.

Came here for breakfast as I was visiting yucca valley. The establishment is similar to Denny’s or IHOP except it is family owned and has a «hole in the wall» feel Food– I ordered the French toast combination with sausage, eggs and has brown on the side. Everything was good and the French toast was perfect. My girlfriend ordered the avocado egg omelette which was very tasty, which she claimed to be the«best omelette ever». Prices are also inexpensive. Service– when we first walked in we weren’t greeted or told where to sit. We kind of stood around awkwardly waiting for someone to acknowledge us. The owner /manager was kind of rude and had a little bitchy attitude when we asked him. The servers are friendly. Atmosphere– not the fanciest or cleanest place but it works for a cheap breakfast. Also saw a worker eating bacon with his fingers than going to serve food. Overall, this place is not bad to get some cheap breakfast and support a local restaurant. That being said, if the owner doesn’t appreciate his customers or doesn’t know how to put a smile on his face id rather support another.

If you like generic packaged food and horrific customer service this place is for you. It is quite beyond me how this place managed to get 4 stars. Try greeting customers when they walk in. The woman with the short hair and glasses looked up at me and looked away no smile, hello or anything. Wow so I sat myself at the counter. Try not taking 5 minutes to acknowledge people. At lest give me a menu to look at. Right away. Even if you are busy it takes 1 second and gives me something to do while waiting Smile Say hello and thank you The only plus was that my food came out fairly quick Frankly everyone working in here looks miserable Also during my stay I saw two tables get up and walk out. And no one seemed concerned one bit. I’d rather go somewhere that cares

Standard old school café with tacky pictures of cats and dogs on the wall. My toddler daughter loved that. Lol. We came on Sunday for breakfast and only had to wait a few minutes. Our server Juanita was very attentive and thoughtful. She even offered just a small cup of oatmeal for my daughter instead of a huge bowl she would never finish. It was perfect sized and not on the menu. Very much appreciated. Coffee is farmer bros.(of course, but that could be stepped up) and the food was delish! Especially the pancakes of course :0) great experience!

I wanted to like this place as it has a great, homey, «diner» feel. The prices are very reasonable. I had the swordfish which was fine. My companions each had Swiss and Mushroom omelettes which looked fine but the Swiss cheese was actually American cheese product which was awful. Coffee was fine and the waitress was friendly. If it wasn’t for that crappy cheese product substitute for Swiss I would have rated it at least four stars.

Found the place on Unilocal while driving thru Hi-Desert. We were very pleasantly surprised at the food… very fresh, delicious and affordable! Our omelettes were terrific & pancakes too! Service was a little slow but that might be how they roll up here. Very nice waitress, place was clean, great little coffee shop on main hwy!

Really good! Came here during busy hours, but was seated right away. Food is great & service is great too! I got the biscuit & gravy, eggs, & hash browns and it was great! Our server always came back to check up on us and refill our drinks. Very quick and concise.

My bf and I were looking for a breakfast spot before we headed into Pioneertown and this place came up with good reviews so we decided to check it out. It was close to 11 and the place isn’t very big so it was packed. We stood awkwardly in the doorway(no reception area) waiting for someone to acknowledge us, but the wait staff bustling about didn’t spare us a glance. Luckily, there was a guy at a table near the door who was almost done so we just sat ourselves down when he left. Finally, a bus guy came by and took the dirty dishes away and actually said hello. A few minutes later a waitress came by to give us menus and get us waters. She was actually nice once she started talking to us but what gives with the initial silent treatment? Well, whatever – the rest of the breakfast went fine. Pretty typical diner breakfast but prepared better than average; not too greasy. I really enjoyed my eggs and hash browns. STEPHJUDGEMENT: Good breakfast joint, but the service is a bit hit or miss.

The people working here are friendly and the service is nice. You can tell that this is a place that helps to bind the local community. Food wise this is just an average greasy spoon dinner. We weren’t super thrilled about the melted American cheese slices on our omelet but are extremely thankful for the meal since they were open the day before Thanksgiving.

You might drive right past this little place if you’re not paying attention. It’s a hole in the wall right off the highway. Once inside, even if completely crowded, it feels like home. Coffee is served in mugs from local businesses. Serving sizes are huge. There’s a hand written menu hanging above the kitchen with all the specials. This place is your typical small town diner. And I love everything about it! Both mornings in Yucca Valley we had breakfast at C&S. Saturday, I had biscuits & gravy and my partner in crime had chorizo & eggs. Hands down the best chorizo & eggs I’ve tasted in a long while.(And that’s saying something living in So Cal) It came with homemade tortillas. *drool* The next morning I had an avocado omelet & the dude had B&G. My omelet was so big, it was falling off the sides of the plate! They must have used at least a full avo, if not more, because there was avocado packed in side and lining the entire top too. The staff was awesome! Can’t wait to go back & get my grub on!

So, I will keep the rating the same, BUT Today, I walked out on a really crappy breakfast and came here, sat at the counter. DOSITATTHECOUNTER It will change your mind about this place. You will see the dusty fried old leave of the plants, falling onto the work counters. You will see orange juice sitting at room temperature waiting to get put into the machine. You will see open drinks sitting on the counter, which is a health violation. You will see vast tubs of ‘butter;? sitting opened waiting, waiting. You will see the grit and grime that could easily be cleaned with a little degreaser. It is stuff that could/should be easily fixed. It’s not kitch when it is dusty and dirty.

OK, this isn’t fine cuisine! The staff is very pleasant, though sometimes a tad slow. The ‘décor’… well, there is a roof over your head. The daily dinner special are great. Lot of food, cooked well, and tasty. Try the grilled chicken sandwich for lunch; real chicken, plenty of it, and reasonably priced. It’s becoming a regular place to eat. Now, how about some beer?

We ordered fruit, and they came back later to tell us they didn’t have any. That was after we waited for them to make hot water, they were out of that too.
