This place ROCKS! Anya did my tattoo and she nailed it. I waited 2 years after my dog Jack passed to have him tattooed on me. I wanted to make sure I had the perfect tattoo artist and I found it with Anya. She really captured everything about him. It looks like him in every way possible, it’s perfect. Not only did she nail this tattoo, she made me feel comfortable during the entire process. It was wonderful from start to finish. I am so lucky that I found her! Also, I drove 2 ½ hours from LA. WORTH IT!

Clean, quick & professional! I made an appointment over the phone and the staff was very friendly and patient with me from the start. Upon arrival I handed over a copy of the Joshua Tree that I wanted and within a ½ hour of walking in, Anya completed the tattoo and it was exactly what I wanted! Since my tattoo was on my back, I would have preferred to be in a forward leaning seat that could’ve made the process less awkward (I was hunched over). However, the work itself was great and Anya made the experience a pleasant one. I definitely recommend her.

So i was looking at tattoo shops on Unilocal and i seen this place. This place is really cool the staff is pretty chill. Anya did my tattoo and she did an amazing job. I totally recommend this place:)

So.. I went into Strata with all hope lost from a tattoo I received elsewhere when the wonderuful, talented, beautiful and totally awesome Jaye fixed it all up and had me leaving there with a smile on my face cause I didn’t think it was fixable! I absolutely love and I can’t wait till I can go back and finish my half sleeve with her. She also made me feel extremely comfortable and not scared out of my mind! Also, the rest of employees were very friendly.

I had Jay’e do my tattoo’s…she is the best! She did my very first one & I was so nervous LOL! She made me feel totally at ease & relaxed. She has a light touch, so very minamal pain if any. I get comments on her work & always send them to Jay’e & Stratta !! Thanks Jay’e !!

This place is great. Jay is an amazing artist and she is very friendly and warm. She has a great versatility for a lot of different tattoo styles and I am so pleased with the amount of detail in my tattoo. I drove a bit to get out there but it was completely worth it. Can’t wait to make my next appointment.

Tamara RULES! The ship is perfectly laid out, super clean and welcoming. Great location and the vibe is the best I have been surrounded by in a long time. Tamara took us as walk ins late on a Sunday evening and we left stoked as hell with our work! Great communication and even better line work. Can’t say enough good things about this shop.
An all female artist staff is an even bigger plus. First time I have seen that and it was a welcomed breath of fresh air.

So far i have had two half sleeves done. The first was a cover up done by Jay Jones (you cant find a better artist in the world) and the second was done by Jays Apprentice, Amanda. Jay sure knows how to pick them!!! The whole concept, application and design was done by Amanda. She took my one simple thought, expounded on it and brought everything to life. I could not be happier. Jay strives for the best and it is shown in herself, her crew and her shop. Very clean and everyone is super friendly and very professional. I definitely would recommend anyone who is getting their first tattoo to go to strata/​you dont want to have your first tattoo be a negative experience. I WONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

This shop does really good work. The newest girl there Amanda is a gem. She is very good at tattoos and she just makes you feel comfortable. The owner was super nice and she is always smiling. I can’t wait to go back and throw more money into my tattoos. :)

I’ve been tattooed in many locations, both physically and geographically speaking. When my spouse got stationed in 29 Palms, I didn’t think I’d ever find an outstanding tattoo artist here in the high desert. But then I found Strata Tattoo Lab on Unilocal.Checked out the portfolio Jay’e had, and I was flabbergasted. So much talent! I called to make an appointment, thinking she’d be booked up for months, but she said she’d be able to squeeze me in that week! I had a piece on my shoulder that I LOVED until I put some special sunscreen on, and it leeched the color out. I was heartbroken. Jay’e not only fixed it up, but made it more dynamic– I was so impressed. And she is FAST. Jay’e was fun to talk to, as well. She has a fantastic personality and is just a hoot. Her shop is immaculately clean, but not only that, it’s designed and decorated so well. She is an artist in every sense of the word, but clearly a hard worker with so much passion for her job. I cannot recommend Jay’e and her shop enough!

Strata Tattoo Lab is an incredibly clean, professional, and all around excellent tattoo shop. I have been all over the US and gotten inked in 5 different states. By far, Strata is the best. I have had both piercings and tattoos done at this shop.
I loved that Jay’e was willing to work on all the small detail that went into my custom tattoo. She spent a good amount of time taking my concept and customizing it so that it was unique and definitely one of a kind. She made sure that it was exactly what I wanted and then rocked it out! She also did some shading on another tattoo that I had done years ago. She made it look brand new and like a whole new tattoo. While she loves doing color, she is very adept at blacks and grays as well.
Dennis is the piercer at Strata and he is cool as hell. He custom ordered me some jewelry and then helped me decide on the best placement for it. He obviously loves what he does and makes sure that his clients are stoked with their outcomes.
All in all clean shop with professional and easy going artists. HIGHLY recommend!

So glad I looked through Unilocal’s HIDDEN reviews and decided to try Jay’e at Strata — she’s amazing! Great work, attention to detail, worked so hard with me to make sure the placement was just right, and the colors, etc. Plus she also seems like a really sweet person, with great camaraderie with her coworkers and apprentices.
This was only my second tattoo, so I don’t really know if a gentle hand exists, but I did doze off for a while! The pain wasn’t too bad. I also don’t know general prices, but hers seemed good.
I live part time in LA, where there’s 10 million tattoo choices — I’m so glad I decided to go here instead. She’s pretty booked, so don’t plan on walking in, although she has several apprentices that could rock out a line or text piece, I would think.
Already planning my next trip to her chair!

My husband has been going here for about four years now and been getting most of his work done by Jay’e. She does great work and is a easy going person, easy to get along with. The atmosphere is great Jay’e said she did most of the ‘designing’.

Strata and Jay’e were highly reccomended to me specially since this was my first time…
I was SOOO petrified of getting INK’ed but this was something very close to my heart… but Jay’e made the whole experience Awesome! Love the place, the atmosphere, the people working there! I LOVE my INK! and can’t wait to go back next month for more!

My boyfriend and I live out in the desert area and were looking for a new artist. After going to a couple shops, I went to Strata. Walking in, the shop was awesome. Very clean, and the people there were very nice. Dave Goff helped us out immediately. He worked with our schedule and got us in within a few days. We both had ideas for a new tattoo. Dave made some suggestions and helped us come up with exactly what would look good.
When we went in to get the work done, Dave was professional and extremely nice. Without question, he went above and beyond to make sure our tattoos came out awesome. My boyfriend’s tattoo was black and grey. Dave did some awesome shading and does beautiful outlines! I went in thinking I was going to get a black and grey tattoo, but Dave encouraged me to get color. I get nervous allowing a new artist full artistic reign, but I’m glad I let Dave incorporate the colors he suggested. The tattoo turned out amazing! Much better than I ever thought it would.
And people can tend to go for a tattoo that looks «ok,» but don’t want to pay high prices for something good. Dave was not the cheapest artist out there, but he doesn’t hike his prices either. We paid a very good price for what we got. Honestly, I would have paid more for mine! And I was quoted more at other shops for less work than he did. With Dave, you get what you pay for without feeling like you had to break the bank for a tattoo. To me, it shows he cares more about the art rather than what he’s gonna make off it. Overall, he takes his time, gets it done right, and cares about his clients. Hate to be stereotypical, but that’s often hard to find in close proximity to a military base.
(Yes, I specifically signed up for Unilocal to leave this review. But I figured it was more than worth a few minutes of my time to recommend Dave.)

In Yucca Valley, tattooing is more than art… it is lifestyle. Because of this, tattoo shops are as abundant there as gas stations and welfare offices. Strata Tattoo Lab’s defining difference however, can be summed up in one word:
Professionalism.
You won’t see the resident artist taking their much needed beauty sleep on the couches in their beautiful lobby. Nor is Strata situated next door to a liquor store, so you don’t have to deal with the lingering wonder of how many cans of 4Loko your artist chased with Vicodin before he proceeds with tattooing butterflies on the small of your back (for the record, I am not the proud owner of such a piece.) This shop knows what it is and doesn’t shout from the rooftops about it either, talent speaks volumes on its own.
I constantly make the 3 hour drive from Los Angeles to Yucca Valley to come to Strata where I get the majority of my work done. Putting myself through the hell of Southern California traffic is a price I am willing to pay to have the piece of mind that the next piece of art that is permanently going on my body will be done right the first time and done with the detail and precision that only an artist who is serious about the business is willing to do, no kids playing «Tattoo Shop» here.
Just the best.
