We were looking for a place to eat after an afternoon at the beach and found Capisce while driving around. They didn’t wince when they saw us in beach clothes and two young kids. The staff was professional while still being light hearted when my two year old what chatting their ear off. The kids menu had a nice variety to appease any child and at a great price to boot. The food was spectacular as was the service. (In my best Arnold voice) I’ll be back!

The wait staff is very attentive and personable. We had the Caesar salad and Capresse salads which were very bland and tired. I had the cheese ravioli and my mother-in-law had the house ravioli, which were both good. My spouse had the veal parmesan which was just okay. I can’t say it was great– it was okay… Nothing to write home, or to Unilocal, about…

We had been looking for a decent Italian restaurant and decided to try Capisce. We had past by it many times and had never stopped in, what a mistake! This place was great! It was myself, my girlfriend and our 2 and half year old daughter. It can be a challenge with a toddler to be accommodated so nicely. The atmosphere was sunny and we enjoyed the ambiance. We ordered the portabella mushroom app and for our entrée my girlfriend ordered the shrimp scampi and I had the lobster Campanella. Wow! We both loved it! Our daughter enjoyed her kids meal as well. We were so full that didn’t try any dessert but we will be back for sure. The service was great and I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great meal.

«Just like Noni used to make». Caprice came highly recommended by my sister who is a concierge in Sacramento. She was right on. «If you like fresh made pasta, this is the place» Jackie was an awesome waitress. We all had trouble deciding, but when Jackie sta rts describing the gravy(bolognanese sauce vs. the marinara) you want whatever she is describing. She made a good meal great. It was like eating at your families restraunt. We will definitely be back if we are anywhere close. It’s only 2 hours away right?

The food is like mama used to make but better. You have to have the cinnamon bun dessert. Service was great. Will come back for sure.

These people who are giving Capisce 4 and 5 stars must have never eaten at a good Italian restaurant. I am being kind by giving 2 stars. The ambience is more«café» than«restaurant», and I saw them reusing the table cloths. The service was very poor, but in fairness to our young waitress, they were shorthanded and she was covering multiple tables. She was pleasant, not very attentive. The house salad was mostly lettuce with a couple of cherry tomatoes. The bread had been steamed so was gooey. The wine was over-priced and under filled. My «lasagne» was prepared with pepperoni in the layers. That must have been the advertized«meat». I have never had pepperoni in a lasagne, and I dislike pepperoni. Ruined the meal for me! I ordered spumoni for dessert and it was really Neopolitan ice cream, not true spumoni. The exterior of the building was nice, though.

So our group had to take the long and scenic drive from Reno back to the lake. We were tired, we were hungry, and some of us were just not in the mood to wait. As soon as my LTE signal returned, I rushed onto Unilocal to determine where we could eat. I landed on Capisce, noticed the good reviews, and called to see what we needed to do to land a relatively imminent reservation. The person on the other end let me know Capisce can seat us as soon as we arrived. That led the rest of the group to agree to come here. Upon arrival, we were seated quite quickly to a lovely corner table with a lovely forest view. We were then treated to a hearty focaccia basket and a fantastic Cabernet based wine blend that was delightfully jammy. The menu offered plenty of tempting options, but I had to choose one. I landed on the eggplant parm, as I hadn’t eaten it in a while. This eggplant parm was the best I’ve had in a long time! It had a sturdy crust, a juicy interior, and a fabulous pairing with homemade tomato-mushroom gravy and butter cheese linguini. The pasta was cooked immaculately, and the vegetarian gravy was ethereally robust. The eggplant parm, the wine, and the focaccia ensured a great meal… But we weren’t done quite yet. The group decided to try the«chocolate lasagne» for dessert. Whoa! The crushed oreo, chocolate mousse, and whipped cream based dessert surprised me… In a wonderful way! Chocoholics everywhere can rejoice with this happy ending. I was so glad to have stumbled upon Capisce. It’s a real Tahoe hidden gem that shines bright like a diamond for Northern Nevada foodies.

One of my favorite restaurants to go to when I’m in South Lake Tahoe. Their ravioli & gravy is the best!

This place was so delicious and the service was great. Came here during spring break when the town was pretty full. They were able to seat us with no wait. Our server was efficient and attentive. Everything that came to our table was really tasty. I would have taken pictures but I was too busy enjoying. We had been meaning to come try this place for quite some time. So glad we did! We will definitely be back!

Living in San Francisco I would consider myself a bit of a food snob. Therefore when I am on vacation I am always checking Unilocal to find something close to my dining expectations. I discovered this place a few years ago and I was quite surprised on how good the food was. It is a family owned restaurant, cozy ambiance and very friendly staff. We dined here at a few times and I was always thrilled with the quality and taste of the food. Last weekend I was in Tahoe with some friends and recommended this place to eat. We came on a Sunday so it wasn’t busy. I have to say this place went a bit downhill. From what I remember their blue cheese wedge salad used to be huge(¼ wedge of iceberg lettuce) with a ton of pancetta and blue cheese. They have downsized the portion to now about 1⁄8 of a head of lettuce, skimped on the pancetta and still charged the same price of 12 $. My brother in law ordered the lasagna and I have never had such bad lasagna in my life. The sauce tasted like it was all paste, very very dark in color and more of a marinara flavor. The tortilla soup was bland had no flavor whatsoever. The only thing that was decent was the artichoke dip. For the price you pay per entrée 20 – 28 $ I expect my food to taste amazing but sadly it seems this place has gone downhill.

This family owned restaurant is amazing! Service is always good and the food is even better. On my last visit, I ordered the meatball sliders appetizer for the table. It was soooo darn good that I got another order all for myself. Their SAUCE is awesome, they insist on calling it gravy, but come on, we’re not in Jersey. I make it a point to eat here every time I’m in the Tahoe area!

Food, I wish I knew! We never ate — never got served. After waiting 15 minutes just to sit down for our reservation, we were finally escorted to our table. And then that’s it! We were just left there — ignored — not one server ever came by. No waters, no drink orders, no food, zilch. Each time we thought one of the servers was coming our way, they’d head to another table. Then we looked around, besides some wine and bread sticks on some of the tables, not one table was eating. Not a good sign for a Saturday night at 7:45 pm. We made the executive decision and got the heck out of there. We thought someone was going to stop us on our way out to ask where we were going — but no. Luckily, the entire experience was laughably, and we eventually ate at another restaurant where they actually serve their customers food. Well, that was a first. Too bad, we were looking to try the famous Ravs.

The best meatballs I have ever consumed. Need more be said? Seriously. Next time in Tahoe, I go here first. Reasonable prices and a huge menu. There is a bar area and a nice restaurant seating area. It is a great respite from casinos and the skiers.

I honestly wish I was staying in Tahoe one more night just so we can come here again. We were going to go to Scusa, but they didn’t have any open table until 8:30. Glad we chose this spot. I’m part Italian, and my Nonna is as Italian as anyone can be. She cooks Italian food whenever I come over, and this place is JUSTASGOOD, if not better(sorry Nonna!). We got the Risotto Balls as an appetizer, and they were pretty good, a little on the salty side, but delicious. I got the shrimp scampi, and my boyfriend got the lobster campenelle. Both amazing dishes, with big portions. I hate those hip Italian places that give you like three pieces of pasta or a tiny dollop of risotto. That’s not true Italian. This place however, gives you portions like your Nonna, as if she’s standing there, shaking her head going«So skinny! Don’t worry, Nonna will put some meat on those bones, guys like girls with a little curve, no?» Seriously, if you’re in the area, try it. You won’t be disappointed.

Very good meal. Party of 6 adults and one child. Service was outstanding especially Salvador. Don’t agree that this is a good place for kids although staff was extremely accommodating, thanks Sara. Should be 2.5−3 $$$. You can feel this is a family owned place, very warm. Group had Cesar salad, artichoke chicken, steak, portobello mushroom pasta, chicken piccata, and spicy lasagna. Food was very good, although side risotto was more rice than risotto and side pasta was dry. Focaccia nothing special.

We come to Lake Tahoe once or twice a year, we always stop by here for authentic Italian food, plus we had our wedding reception here and they always treat us so good. Good food, great prices and the feel like Nona cooked! Can’t beat that.

Friendly, family style Italian restaurant with excellent service and very good food. Anything with their«gravy»(Italian red sauce) is very tasty. I had the chicken parmigiana, which was quite good and my companions had the spaghetti with meatballs, also good, and the spicy lasagna, which lived up to its name. We all had salads to start. All the dressings are made in house, and my blue cheese wedge was great. We brought our own bottle of wine but there are a few good choices on their list as well, reasonably priced. In sum, nothing fancy; just simple good quality Italian served by a very friendly staff. I would definitely go back if in the neighborhood.

When I come up to visit my parents in South Lake Tahoe, this is my first stop on my list. I always walk out of there with what looks like a to-go order because I have to have everything and there portions are VERY generous. My normal order starts with Artichoke Dip, Bruschetta and Risotto Balls(to share obviously), then I get either the Tortilla Soup or Caeser Salad(sometimes both if I can get someone to split with me) and I usually end with the Chicken Pesto Pasta. I’m a creature of habit… can you tell? I also have to tell you, I used to bartend there a couple of years ago and they have the absolute cleanest kitchen I have ever seen. This family owned business have the highest standards and I only get more impressed every year!

A Diamond in the ruff! I could not believe this place has been in Lake Tahoe this whole time. Everything was great! We were in town for 4 days and ate here 2x. The food is great as well as the service! A nice bottle of Caymus and the Shrimp Piccata was mouth watering. a perfect shrimp and pasta that I was craving since we arrived. the chicken Piccata, oh so soft and moist perfect flavor! the 2nd visit I had Arianna’s shrimp scampi. WOW! all I have to say is that Capisce is a must for anyone who visits Lake Tahoe. I very strongly recommend this Italian restaurant to anyone who visits. sorprendente!!!
