I so wish they’d desist with the noisy and extremely intrusive Outdoor Christmas parties!

There’s a consensus that Ayer’s House is the best place in Adelaide to organise functions, weddings, and formal events. The number of wedding processions pulling out of the Ayer’s House driveway should be enough proof of this.
The glass conservatory building around the side of the house is where you’ll be for functions, and its impressive to say the least. The table decorations are impeccable, the interior décor is beautifully crafted, and everything is planned to perfection. I came here for a school formal once, and whilst it was very nice and fancy at the beginning of the evening, the kids lifted the roof on the dance floor. Whilst its appearance might put out a quiet, dainty character, once enough PAs are put into this place, it goes off!
As John has pointed out, this isn’t a walk-​in establishment, and is only catered for private functions and big events. This place always seems to have something going on, so its advised that you book in advance.

This is a premier location for the bride and groom racket. The people who run Ayers House know weddings like they know the back of their hand: intimately and expertly. One of my best mates had her wedding here and my coming from a hospitality background I was all ‘I’m going to keep an eye on these people and whip these staff into shape!’ But they were already in tip top shape: attentive, lovely mannered, and actually able to pre-​empt what we were about to request before we’d even opened our mouths.
The rooms are beautiful, classic, a bit grand and stately, with elaborate drapes and Grand pianos, candlelit pathways and pretty water features. It really is the most beautiful and elegant place to get hitched, and the food was amazing. Going to the chapel? Nah, go to Ayers house.

I’ve eaten at Ayers House once and enjoyed it. We were there for a post-​school function of some sort, and it was far more lavish than I expected any event my school would put on to be.
We ate in the Henry’s Brasserie, which is a conservatory style dining room leading from a larger dining hall out into the garden. It was a particularly nice place to have dinner. The food itself was also very, very good as was the wine.
Unfortunately this isn’t a place you can stroll into and grab a table. Ayers House only runs big functions like weddings, corporate events and dinners. However, for those fancy events, you can’t get any nicer than this place.

Falling in to the hands of 19^th century wealthy businessman and political figure Henry Ayres, the George Strickland Kingston designed house on North Terrace, known today as «Ayres House» has remained an icon of Adelaide for over 165 years.
Whilst this grand heritage premises can be explored by various historical tours throughout the year, it is primarily used as a high-​end, fancy facility for events ranging from special meals, corporate occasions and many weddings. The beautifully appointed house with its manicured lawns and exquisite rooms are a favourite with local brides to be.
A Michelin star awarded Head Chef and his unfaultable silver servants, put the finishing flourishes on the perfect Adelaide dining experience, ensuring Ayers House is the pinnacle of class. The quality and taste of each passionately prepared dish is largely unrivalled throughout metropolitan Adelaide, and at the very least is certainly the best food of any event venue.
