Balaena Café

Where else in Adelaide can you get free Internet while you sit in air conditioned comfort enjoying a view of a gigantic Whale? Well… to put it another way, a gigantic dead whale… but that sounds a bit yucky doesn’t it? This isn’t yucky this is so cool you will want to hang around all day. Well I always do feel like hanging around all day, but the staff can get a little spooked out. It’s not that they mind, it’s just the other patrons who are waiting for somewhere to sit generally will not share with me because I’m, well… creepy I guess.
Regardless of all that, this is one café worth wandering into, and not just because of the free Internet. The food is nice, the atmosphere is completely great fun, and the distance from the main street of North Terrace means it is quiet even though it is in the heart of the city’s main cultural precinct. Fabulously spooky for those of you spooked out by old bones — even though they are probably not actual bones but a reproduction of bones, because who wants to sit by an old dead thing eating anyway? Would the Health Department condone such activity?
I certainly doubt it. I would say it’s all reproduced with accuracy and care — so get in and order a nice café lunch and scrutinise the dead stuff from a safe distance and enjoy!
Oh yeah and on a more formal note I should mention Balaena Café specialises in catering for conference dinners, corporate functions, birthday parties and even weddings.
