It’s hard to be fair and unbiased, as my parents for some reason absolutely fucking loved cane furniture when they first decorated their house in the mid 1970s. As a result, nearly every traumatic injury of the first eight or so years of my life generally involved cane furniture. As a result, I’m not a fan. Hell, maybe I wouldn’t be a fan anyway. But this place, this is alright. If you’re looking for cane furniture, then this is probably your place. I came in here a few weeks ago searching for some white wicker chairs for my mother-in-law, as for some reason she seemed to have lost her sanity and decided that they would be appropriate. I was fairly impressed with the range of furniture. It was pretty good quality stuff, but I think my cats would rip anything I bought here apart in a matter of seconds. But then again I’ve got really destructive cats. The people that work here I only briefly talked to, but they seemed to know their stuff, and were nice enough. I’m sure if I ever wanted to buy cane furniture, this would be one of the first places I tried.

Dude. Gross. I’ve never liked cane furniture all too much, and being in a store with filled with it makes me feel like I’m in some sort of retirement village. I’ve got a few elderly relatives that would be head over heels(in an injury-free sort of way) upon coming to a store like this, but if you want to retain any remnant of modernity to the interior décor of your home, I would advise you to turn and run. But to be fair, there were some decent looking outdoor chairs hidden throughout the store; stuff that I wouldn’t mind buying for myself. One of their black cane outdoor furniture sets could actually be a very nice fit to a modern outdoor setting, but finding these items through an array of outdated designs will really test your searching abilities. Perhaps when I turn old and grey I’ll develop an affection for unsightly cane furniture — but until then I’ll look for my furniture elsewhere.

This place has been around FOREVER and for the most part is pretty stuck in the past. The floral print and cane sofas look like something your parents owned in the 70s. The glass-topped dining settings wouldn’t look out of place in the studio of your eccentric old Aunty who teaches art and wears parrot earrings. They have rocking chairs: who even buys those anymore? Yes, it’s retro as all hell, but not really in a charming way. More just totally daggy. There’s no other word for it kids. That’s not to say there aren’t some saving graces: I’d take one of their daybeds for my garden in a second. They also have some Japanese-style screens that are rad, and those hanging seats are pretty cool too. Verdict: dig around through the mostly ghastly stuff and you might find a cute piece for your outside areas.

Cane me baby. Not like that. The store is like a wicker jungle, as far as the eye can see… I don’t know about you guys but I’m a sucker for wicker chairs and cane furniture in general. I think my favourite would have to be the gyrating basket swings you can hang in your entertainment area and curl up with a good book. near as good as hammocks. Cane Corner has all of this, I’m a big fan of their outdoor settings, I’d love to have one in my pool area. It’s a relatively large store with pretty good variety and the sales staff know more about cane than I would ever like to.
