It’s an Adelaide institution when it comes to steaks. Those who are dinners will know the word Gauchos. When you walk in it talk of class and high standards and the foods across the menu are simply amazing. One place where it covers every occasion to its finest… Bön appetite!

If a restaurant is good enough for the Ex — prime minister to eat at, it must be absolutely phenomenal and Gaucho definitely lived up to that expectation! Immediately as we walked through the door, we were greeted immediately by a waiter, all of them dressed extremely sharp. We were lead to the back of the restaurant to a private area, where we were seated next to the table of the man the himself, Tony Abbott. Which was a pleasant surprise. Onto the food, though the wait for long, it was totally worth it as the steaks were cooked to perfection. Each slice into the steak released its oozing liquid flavours, absolutely amazing! I would have to say its the best steak I ever had in Adelaide. The mushroom sauce glazed the steak in a way that brought out the true flavours of the steak. The chips that came with the steaks were also delicious being proper clean cut potato chips. Though I wis that there were more servings of chips as each person didn’t get their own serves but it was all placed into a large bowl to share. Overall the experience was amazing, and would definitely comeback again for a special occasion. Though the total cost of the bill was equivalent to the new iPhone.

Always a great place, Gaucho’s is now even better! They’ve always served late all year around and still do. From large glasses to decent steak knives, you feel like you’re in South America! Great oysters, blood pudding and of course steak. Great service too.

Ate here again on Tuesday. again it was amazing. Both mains and entrees were faultless and the staff as always excellent. They know they’re stuff and still very down to earth. I love this place because its got top food, service and atmosphere but still very down to earth and relaxable place to eat.

Thumbs up to the head waiter who knows his stuff and has some special wines both on and off the list. This is a steakhouse, and their bread and butter are big t bones and upmarket wagyu sliced fillets. As a vegetarian, there is one entrée, one main and sides on the menu, but chef can whip up something special and the offer was made to me but I was there as a blogger event with set menu this time. The pumpkin dish was excellent and I ate a heap of that. The house made chimchurri sauce is now being bottled by Beerenberg and is available in IGA’s and Foodlands so you can make steak and oysters like Gaucho’s at home. Enough to satisfy a vego, but really a meat lovers paradise

I had been here 18 months earlier, so I knew it would be good, but it still surprised me. We had oysters to start, can’t remember what they were called but it was something like devil oysters. They were the greatest thing I’ve ever eaten. The mains were very meat focussed, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Amazing.

A high end Argentinian Steak house in the middle of a street with about a hundred Asian restaurants(Gouger). After having several people recommend this place to us during our Australian holiday, we decided to check it out. Since it was a Saturday we called ahead for a reservation-we were only calling about an hour ahead but were able to get a table outside. It had been 100 degrees(40 Celsius) for a couple of days so no one wanted the outside tables but luckily for us the weather changed and the temp was a mild 79 at dinner time. As others have said, this place is about meat so that’s what we had. My wife and I split the porterhouse and while it was a bit under our requested medium temperature, it was a wonderfully flavored steak and just enough for the two of us. It is served cut off the bone and sliced which makes it very easy for sharing. We also shared a pear salad which surprisingly was served at the same time as the main dish(which, as we looked around seemed to be how it works). The two others in the group each had a filet(or as they put it «fillet» — pronounced«fill-it»). They actually have two different ones on the menu and the main differences are the size(in grams of course) and marbling(Scotch Fillet is the less lean, more marbled steak). The other thing American diners will notice is the size and shape-about an inch think and round like a small pancake. Nonetheless, these steaks were also quite tasty. You can order extra sauces for the steaks but we chose not to and we’re happy with that choice. The dishes are served with roasted potatoes and they also have a decent wine list featuring several nice choices from the surrounding Wine regions. Recommended.

When you think Argentinean Restaurant you should think huge steak slabs to sink your teeth into Surprisingly and for the right reasons, it’s about the quality of the meat that is the prime focus of attention The dish was cooked as per the order(medium rare), the steamed side dishes a welcome distraction Service 8⁄10 Food 8⁄10 Menu Range 9⁄10 Wine List 9⁄10 Price — Probably on the expensive side $ 80 per head It’s one of Adelaides icon restaurants located in the Chinatown district You just visit to cross off the bucket list !

Have always loved each and every experience at Gauchos! The staff, smiling as they welcome you, the chefs laughing as they work their magic preparing your meal. We came here with a group and had excellent service throughout — even with one vegetarian diner at the table(we called ahead and the chef arranged a special meal for them). We licked our plates clean. Again!

Amazing steaks and service. This place is a great spot for dinner. The blue cheese sauce is heavenly with the steak. Signature bacon oysters also amazing. Shared dishes are huge! Highly recommend for good food amongst lots of Thai spots nearby.

Meat meat meat, very paleo friendly. This spot was surprisingly full on a weekday night, but we were able to snag a table outside without a reservation. To keep things light, we went with the charcuterie board and a giant smoldering pit of meat over fire. First up was the meat plate; Packed full of bresaola, osso collo, guanciale, spicy chorizo and pickled ox tongue, it was all lovely, especially the tongue. Next was the parrillada de carne($ 60pp) that came with a mixed grill of char-grilled chorizo sausage, lamb chops, free range goat, mesquite smoked turkey drumstick, pork belly, skewers of dry aged beef, black pudding, kidneys and sweetbreads, garnished with lemon wedges, extra virgin olive oil and fresh herbs. It was a beast and this picture does not do its enormity justice; It really was huge and mostly very good. The kidneys and sweetbreads were overcooked and on the organy side, but almost all the rest of the meat was excellent. We ordered for two people but it could have easily fed four normal eaters. Fun spot, I wouldn’t mind going back.

If you like steak and have not heard about Gauchos get it on the top of your to do list. Amazing steaks and service, I went there Friday night and dinner started at 7:30pm but we didn’t leave till midnight. It was such a great atmosphere and such good food. Wine list is extensive and they have a great selection of beers as well highly recommended this place to anyone.

I would recommend Gauchos for special treats, partners and family birthdays and important dates. Defiantly one to try! The first thing to note about Gaucho’s is that if you are going to come here, do not plan any significant meals for the rest of the day! Due to the nature of the restaurant I would suggest that this is a place to go only if you are willing or able to spend money. Some might imply that this restaurant may be over priced or too expensive but I believe that in a restaurant such as this one you get what you pay for and it is worth it. I have never seen the chefs here cook a steak to anything but perfection. Because of the meat based menu therefore a predominantly male customer base you can feel like you have walked into a men’s club. This comes at an advantage for some things as the tables are large, for plenty of elbow room, which in a time where restaurants are consolidating space to fit as many people in as possible it is quite refreshing to be able to spread yourself out. The negatives of this ‘men’s club’ is the atmosphere is somewhat lacking as there is no clever design elements for comfort or sense of a bigger space, but the wine list here is fantastic, so once again I suggest digging deep into your pockets and you will find the atmosphere as warm as the bottles are long. The service here is fantastic, this may have been because we had dinner at around nine, however, we had our own waitress for the duration of the meal. *relishthegoodthymes

The wagyu at Gaucho’s is amazing! It is sourced from one of the two full blood wagyu producers in Australia. Try that with or without sauce, depending on your preference. If you like the original flavour of wagyu, try the one without sauce. I prefer to be saucy because I like it to be moist. De setas complements well with the wagyu. Do not order the fish of the day there!

The service was absolutely sensational, magnificent wine list and the 800gm rib eye was stunning. I hadn’t eaten here for 5 years and as a going-away dinner with my family and friends, I was extremely impressed(as usual). Thanks.

This has got to be the worst vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to! My dinosaur slab of prime aged porter house steak arrived after sampling some delicious nibbles of spiced almonds and olives. For a moment I felt I was on the set of the next Flintstones movie… The steak was medium rare and a very thick cut — It almost felt like carving the Sunday roast getting through it. The pepper sauce, which will cost you $ 7 extra, was delicious — my only criticism was that there wasn’t enough of it. A bottle of red wine, an Affogato for dessert followed by a liqueur muscat nightcap ensured I retired for the evening content and probably a little fatter. The service was outstanding, I was sufficiently«topped up» which eased the pain when the bill arrived. This place is definitely not cheap. But the place was full which is a good indicator that most see the value of the cuisine and service.

Went with a group of 15 people to this wonderful steakhouse. We ate waaay too much, but then, that is why we went. I really loved the Parrillada de Carne which is a mixed plate of grilled chorizo, lamb, pork belly, quail, kidneys and sweetbreads. One of the guys next to me ate the black pudding, as I was not in the mood for that one. A lot of dishes were being shared and I could not keep up with all the different steaks that got to the table. Everything was good. I wanted to drink the chimichurri. We all hurt afterward. Up early the next morning to run a little of it off. All along the street that has Gaucho’s are other international cuisines that beg for exploration. We spent many nights along this street and I can only honestly recall the name — Gaucho.

Stop your grinnin’ and drop your linen. These steaks don’t fuck around. If you’re serious about meat, then Gauchos just might be your holy grail. Gaucho’s has long been one of my favourite establishments, purely for the reason that it doesn’t compromise. Sure, you could die of a coronary heart attack halfway through chewing your way to victory, but you just have to give the people what they want. There’s no better place to get a slab of high-grade beef, Argentinian style. The chimmi churri sauce will blow your socks off — I can’t eat a thing at Gaucho’s anymore without drowning my meal in the stuff. Let me just give this quick disclaimer — though the décor is wonderful, and the dimmed lights provides great ambience, this isn’t the kind of place you’d want to go for a first date. The amount of juicy beef and garlic on your plate won’t be kind later on in the evening when things get hot and heavy. If you have the balls to try anything above a 250g steak, I salute you. But you better loosen that belt buckle, because chances are your waistline won’t be too happy with all of that carnivorous deliciousness you just devoured. Also, make sure you book in advance, as the restaurant can get booked out for consecutive days.

Where do I start? This place is serious Argentinian fine dining. My family and I have always celebrated each important event here(graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, the time my kid brother got a job). The food here is amazing. My personal favourites would have to be the king prawns, porterhouse, and wagyu beef. Although, the last time I came here I ordered one of their specials: pork belly. It was mouth-watering, and so were the sides of salad and mashed potatoes. The last time I ate here it was my parents’ wedding anniversary, and I spoke to one of the staff about surprising them with a dessert and candles. The staff were very helpful, offering to stick sparklers in my chosen dessert, the Don Pedro — Tia Maria with vanilla bean icecream, callebaut hazelnut chocolate and pistachio tuille. Delicious! However, get ready to spend like there’s no tomorrow. This time around it was my turn to shout, and for the next week I was living off bread and water.

Normally this place would be way out of my price range. However, about a year after returning from Argentina, the cravings for chimmi churri and huge chunks of beef became so overwhelming that I had to break the budget and invest my life savings into a meal at Gaucho’s. Whilst I am no gastronomer, my experience in Argentina has at least equipt me with sufficient knowledge to say that that Gaucho’s serves perfect and authentic Argentinian cuisine. My Steak(Bife de Chorizo) was massive and cooked to perfection and there was home made chimmi churri upon the table. Accordingly, my desires were satiated, albeit at a fair portion of the price of a flight back to Argentina. Really this place is suited to swanky old boys wearing suits. This is fine dining, and there is a serious wine list. In addition to huge chunks of beef there is a broad range of Argentinian cuisine available on the menu, including a broad range of seafood.
