So I noticed this place a few weeks ago after taking a wrong turn into the city and saw that it said«vegan and vegetarian café». We stopped by today and we were given the menu and I was pretty happy with the prices(I’m a poor uni student at the moment). I wasn’t feeling too adventurous so I opted for the veggie burger with extra free range egg — so did my indecisive wife. We also got some steamed dumplings and chocolate torte for dessert. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food and while I waited I looked at their CD collection. I noticed they had a CD by Nawang Khechog, a Tibetan flute player who I had come across previously. The waiter noticed that I was looking at the CD and came over to our table to let me know that that particular CD was what was playing at that time. I didn’t realise at first but it was awesome either way. We were given a free salad to start us off. Nice little bonus! The burgers were amazing! They came with a small side of fries/chips. The dumplings were also pretty impressive. I almost commented that they should have come with a chilli sauce type dip on the side but they were covered with a sauce that did that job quite nicely. The waiter accidentally brought out the chocolate truffle instead of the chocolate torte and when I let him know he apologised and left us with the truffle anyway… Score!!! Both were amazing. The truffles had mixed nuts in them and he described them as energy balls. Apparently they also sell them in the central markets but at a much higher price. The torte was incredible also! The waiter who brought out the majority of our food turned out to be the owner. He asked us how we heard about them and I told him our story about driving past etc. He was super nice and explained that they have only been open for 2 months. He also explained why they are only open on weekends(He drives trucks during the week). He spent quite a while talking with us about the food and where it came from, where he was from(Taiwan) etc. A very nice guy which always makes me feel good about patronising a restaurant where the owner is genuine. Overall, this place was great. Super chill music, friendly staff, great heating, nice layout and most importantly delicious food! I’ll definitely be going back and trying the Laksa as another customer reported that it was the best in Adelaide. I’ll just have to see for myself! My one critique was that the table we sat at was too high for the chairs — but the other tables in the back room looked like the tables were too low. The front 2 rooms have regular seating. It’s a small critique for an otherwise great little restaurant, but I promised that I would provide feedback and share the word. Check it out!
