Lotus Lounge is Adelaide’s classiest cocktail bar. Unassuming from the outside and effortlessly tasteful inside, Lotus features cozy inside spaces and a gorgeous garden area. The cocktail list is simply and leans heavily on a mix of classics and reworked classics, but the bar staff are so knowledgable that it’s very hard to place an «off the menu» order they can’t fill. The atmosphere is always relaxed and amiable, with the owner often mingling among the clientele and giving away drinks. The music is rarely so loud the you can’t hold a conversation, but always loud enough to encourage dance floor activity. Their DJs are a mix of Adelaide’s most tasteful selectors, with a steady flow of surprisingly high profile international DJs. Regardless of if you are looking for an early evening warmup drink or a place to cap off a big night, or anything in between, Lotus Lounge comes highly recommended.

Plenty of attitude but pleasant bar(and busy when we visited) that serves some delicious cocktails. More available off the menu. Very loud and the building lacks much style inside(particularly compared to similar local Venus) but a nice garden courtyard.

Best bar to arrive at early: you can sit in there by yourself and have a drink and the atmosphere is relaxed so you don’t feel lonely or get leered at. Not a good bar to walk into at midnight Saturday night: people tend to come in here in groups and order every cocktail on the menu, leaving you waiting for your simple champagne for a very long time. They do table service here during the happy hour sort of time, staff to patron ratio permitting. There really is nothing better than reclining in a cocktail lounge and having delicious drinks bought to you on a tray. The high life, for common people. Music is inoffensive club and electro that you can both dance to if you’re in the mood or ignore when you want to have a proper chat. No matter how busy this place gets we never seem to have trouble finding a table, which is another reason why this is a favourite for me and my friends. Its positioning right near delicious restaurants like British India and Mesa Lunga also make it the perfect possie for after dinner drinks.

Lotus Lounge is a cosy little cocktail lounge in the heart of Adelaide that will make you feel like you’ve just crashed a house party. Really, it does look like you’ve stepped into someones house. On offer is a huge array of cocktails, wines and beers. An outdoor courtyard boasts an open air cinema, and also hosts events regularly. Lotus Lounge can also cater for functions.

I love, love, LOVE Lotus Lounge. It’s always my last stop on the way home. It feels just like you’ve stumbled off the street into some cool dude’s house party with a corner cleared away to dance and a neat courtyard out the back, decked out Balinese style. The only difference is absolutely superb drinks on offer(no bath full of stubbies in ice at this ‘house’). The music is either super cool or old-skool funky, depending on which night you’re there, and you can completely let loose in whatever dance style you fancy without fear of retribution. I’ve met some really great people lounging out the back and while it’s not a ‘pick up joint’ there’s a very nice crowd here most nights(thank you very much!).

Lotus Lounge is a hip and laid back joint on Morphett St, Just around the corner from the buzzing Gouger St district. Styling itself with retro chic furniture and iconography, Lotus Lounge offers cocktail bar prices with none of the snobbery usually associated with bars of this type. Funky paintings adorn the walls and a lime green colour scheme gives an electrifying vibrancy to the building. There is a cool little beer garden out the back which looks like someones backyard, complete with a home made looking tiki hut and cheesy photographic palm beach vista. The music is generally electro and there is usually a DJ nestled in the little dance floor area situated between the front bar and the beer garden. Dancing in the doorway, probably my favorite aspect of the Lotus Lounge. Uncharacteristically hip for Adelaide, there need to be more bars, as aesthetically pleasing as the lotus lounge. Also, keep your eyes peeled for Fringe events at the Lotus Lounge, as well as its outdoor cinema.
