The coffee was great and the Chorizo and white beans on Mylor Pumpkin toast was amazing! The service was great with very friendly and attentive staff.

I could only think of a couple of improvements and would probably go 4.5 stars given the option. Yesterday was windy rainy and cold outside and the large open inside space needed some warmth at the front customer end to make me feel I had made the best choice in my life by coming inside. Not the décor kind of warmth but the other gas-based variety. The other would be some smaller-than-a-cake slice sweets imperfectly ‘thrown’ about their counter tops, like at One little sister or Minestra. You start to salivate on approach to the counter alone. Paddy’s comes across as a place that should do that. The staff seem really nice, friendly and genuine, and the coffee was as good as it gets. They’re placed well to service the SW corner of the city and if I lived or worked nearby I could see myself being there quite a lot. Keep it up Paddy’s.

Such a great little spot for a catch up. If you weren’t looking for it you might miss it driving past, but once inside its casual and well lit with the big communal table near the window the perfect place for a coffee. The soldiers and eggs take me crashing back to my childhood, and the coffee is strong and consistent! Worth checking out.

I feel like the theme song to Cheers is playing in my head when I come here because it’s hands down the most welcoming café in Adelaide. I love hitting up places outside of the main CBD so after hearing so much about this place in the community(especially the lovely Rifa) I just had to check this little wonder out. The food was pretty simple and isn’t trying to smash every hot topic superfood or flavor of the month hipster trend into their dishes. I just grabbed a large coffee and fell in love whilst my partner got the eggs on toast which was pretty delicious! Love the vibe!

The others are right, this baby is bang on the money! You can;‘t fault the produce they work with; you see it coming the door, everything fresh and carefully sourced by teh taste of it. There’s something great about seeing a guy walk in with a box of tomatoes he’s grown, speaking to the owner about them. The limited menu means they can focus. While that’s a pain if you don’t like what’s going at the moment, they do have a good range. And as other say, the trout is bloody delicious, just the right hint of horseradish. I love the way they do their tomatoes. The seasoning is generous and brings them to life. Staff are always good. So is the coffee. But I go for the food — and the food keeps me coming back.

I finally got to this much-talked about haunt a month or so a go, and yes, whilst it was a journey from the CBD where café’s are in abundance, it was 100% worth it. I will point out now that I usually drink two coffees in a sitting whether it’s a meeting, catching up with a friend or just having some me time. I’ve since been back to Paddy’s three times and every single coffee I’ve had there — whether it’s a LB or flatty — have been bang on the money. The food is super tasty and although the staff don’t appear to be the happiest people you’ll come across all day, they do make you feel welcome; after all, you’re pretty much in the wilderness that far South West of Adelaide!

This is one of my favourite haunts in the city. Coffee is great and never fails to please. You can always get a table and park for free on the street and the smoked trout… OMG **droooolssss**. It’s the perfect portion size that doesn’t leave you in a food coma, super fresh and light, and coupled with the horseradish cream — this is one of the best brekkies goin’ round! Sat on top of a bed of greens and pumpkin sourdough, this little plate of deliciousness is my favourite dish on their simple but amazing menu. Other items include eggs and soldier’s, cheese & ham toastie, avo and fetta on sourdough with sumac(very generous with the avo too). Everything is reasonably priced too and you would generally pay around $ 9-$ 16. The room has an industrial feel to it and is long and skinny with white bricks. It’s bright and open with succulents and flowers to soften the hardness of the furniture. They have a few outdoor seats too which is nice when it’s sunny. With the high ceilings can make it quite cold inside during winter though so bring a jumper. There’s also no table service which is disappointing, it’s becoming a bit of an expectation now days and I think they could probably offer it when it’s not busy. Paddy’s is also great if you just want to settle in with your laptop and get some work done and they have a few high communal tables that are perfect for it. I don’t know who Paddy is, but her lantern lights up my day and I’m always happier after a latte and some trout!

Paddy’s Lantern — What does that name mean you ask? I don’t know, but what I do know is this little place tucked away in Gilbert Street describes the perfect morning coffee catchup or brunch date. From the smiling staff, to the welcoming and wonderful environment, this place won’t disappoint. I will agree with others that the breakfast menu is quite small, but to be honest, you’ll look straight past that tiny flaw once you indulge in the ‘Smoked Ocean Trout on Pumpkin Sourdough with Horseradish Cream’. It was a sensational breakfast/brunch option — quite close to love at first sight!(Note: this is coming from a girl who rarely uses the word love + fish in the same sentence). Overall, a lovely experience. Thanks guys! Sincerely, #yelpintern

Great coffee and breakfast place. Small but with a great vibe. Really great coffee and an awesome short but interesting menu. Soft Boiled Whole eggs with«soldiers» was a trip down memory lane. A little hipster but without the pretentious feel.

Won’t go there again. Incredibly rude staff all but stopped me from coming into the place when they weren’t scheduled to close for another 15 minutes. Having read good reviews I was curious to try this spot out but the staff ruined it.

Sam and crew never disappoint! Have had several coffees(across the range) and chowed down on a number of dishes ranging from honey on toast to most recently a delicious vegetable soup. Always enjoyed and always look forward to another visit.

I’m a regular at Paddy’s either for a coffee or lunch as it is near my office. I would come more often if it was close to home! It’s hard not to keep coming back to a café where the staff are so friendly and welcoming and know their coffee. For example, on one occasion I ordered two coffees while waiting for my husband who was late as usual. One of the staff noticed that my husband’s coffee was sitting there for 10 minutes and he offered to take it away and said that he’ll make me a fresh cup when my husband arrives. Without me even mentioning it, soon after my husband sat down, a fresh cup of coffee was placed in front of him. Wow that’s great service. AND last week, I took my almost four year old(going on fourteen) there for morning tea before dropping him off at childcare and my son knocked over his hot choc while he was eagerly scoffing down his lemon curd tart. One of the staff(I think he’s the owner), quickly came to wipe the spilled drink and did not make my son feel bad about the mess(he was close to tears — he loves his hot choc!) and after a few minutes the staff came back with a new cup of hot choc for him. How’s that for service??? And I like that the hot choc was the right temperature for a kid and not too sweet. Great coffee, great food, the best service. I love this place.

Nice tucked away spot on Gilbert St. It seems to be popular with cyclists, and as another reviewer noted this tends to be an indicator of good coffee :) They are certainly right with this place. They use 5 Senses and Bonsoy which always manages to please my taste buds. The food was simple and satisfying. The music was funky. The staff were friendly. All in all a good experience. One small thing I will note is the old school Transport SA posters are all fine except the one that says«Ride Indian File»… My Native American wife and I are like…“What does that even mean???” I’m sure it’s not meant to be offensive… but still,

Yes, I’m going against the grain by giving this brilliant place four stars but I do have a little qualm… Yes, the food was superb — the ocean trout the was recommended was a great pick — and I loved the pumpkin bread that it was presented on top of. Everything was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed and savored every mouthful. I totally adored the décor — very minimal and very much my style. The staff were awesome and friendly — I’d totally come in just to say hi! The cost — totally affordable at only $ 12 for my lunch I was very happy! My one gripe? My hot chocolate — it was just okay. Yes, I am aware that this place specializes in coffee — and from all reports the coffee is amazing… but I don’t really drink it(incredibly caffeine sensitive you see…) however I’d really like a stand — out hot chocolate on the menu too! Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t memorable — and boy have I had some memorable hot chocs in my time! Please do come and check this place out though because overall it really is pretty fantastic!

Why have one course of brunch when you can have two?! That’s what we thought when we arrived here for a big feed after what had been a very long weekend. My two dining companions and I all started with the trout and horseradish cream cheese on pumpkin toast. This was one of those memorable bruch dishes that you think about for days afterwards. The toast wasn’t overly crunchy and I loved that there was a big mound of greens to accompany the trout toast, making me feel virtuous for getting some roughage in. Then we moved on to sourdough toast with lashings of butter and raspberry jam because… well… why not? A shared portion between three was a great sweet way to end the meal. Terrific sourdough and high quality jam.

THEEVOLUTIONOFTHEHIPSTER I was recommended this place by pretty much all that went here, so I had high hopes. With this in mind I decided this was the place to bring the family and the dreaded mother in law(only joking) and Paddy’s Lantern really lived up to its hype. Paddy’s Lantern, isn’t anything spectacular to look at, ts really just a shed with a nice front, but the guys have made this into a pretty cool looking place. The food here isn’t your usual café food, it seems to be breakfast and a couple of light lunch meals but everything we had was awesome. On the day we went, I got the Smoked Trout on Pumpkin Sour Dough… So good and now at this late hour while writing this review its starting to make feel hungry! :) The Coffee’s were really good, i don’t know what brand it was but i’ll have to find out as it didn’t have that bitter taste of some of the other coffee brands, and as I have a pregnant wife, she got a decaf and like«Chloe» reviewed she too had a(I can’t believe it’s not coffee) moment. :) Overall I was really impressed, staff were great, food was awesome and coffee was exceptional and it even kept the mother in law happy! :) Definitly worth a visit.

Probably my favourite place in Adelaide. Granted I have only ever been to Adelaide once, for 3 days… but still. What I loved most about it was it’s laid-back, neighbourhood vibe. Located a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, walking into Paddy’s felt like i’d stumbled across a local gem. It also didn’t hurt that behind the counter were a couple of blokes who were all smiles and didn’t mind a bit of banter. The menu at Paddy’s is rather small but their Smoked Ocean Trout is not to be missed — thick, flakey fish atop a generous smothering of horseradish cream served on pumpkin sourdough. As far as brekkies go, it doesn’t get much better than this in my book. The coffee here is also pretty darn good — perfectly extracted with velvety smooth milk. In fact, It was so good that against my better judgement I opted to have a second cup, which for a girl coming off a 1-year coffee hiatus is a risky move. I may have had heart palpitations for an hour afterwards but it was worth every mouthful!

I’d been looking to visit Paddy’s for some time and finally had a chance on lunch today. The Synesso on the counter signals that these lads meant business. I sampled a ristretto and a long black. The ristretto was thick and very bold, with a nice hazelnut/cocoa finish. They served the long black in a less than 150ml tulip cup — not a 500ml bathtub like some places do — thumbs up. The food here is all extremely well priced I saw tuna or salmon come out on bread while I had boiled eggs with toast. Both serving sizes were on the generous side. My eggs were perfectly done and the bread was beautifully toasted. So relaxing sitting inside on a rainy day and winding down with something so delightful and simple. The gents behind the counter were extremely welcoming and accommodating. I’ll be bringing people back here and recommend it highly.

Amazing place. Top notch eats for $ 10 – 12, and rich, flavorful coffees. I had free range soft-boiled eggs with buttered sourdough soliders, and my girlfriend had pumpkin sourdough with horseradish cream cheese and smoked ocean trout. Both were exactly as awesome as they sound. The eggs came with flaked sea salt from Australia’s west coast, and butter harvested directly from Mt. Olympus. The coffee is so good it doesn’t even need sugar, which for someone who adds sugar to most any coffee is high praise. If you’re curious, ask Hadrian about the«Hadrian Express» and don’t be afraid to try it!
