A frequent user of grenfell cafes for meetings and have never had such bad service. We were moved from our table twice as we were not sure if our guest wanted lunch. After this we were quizzed as to why it took us ten minutes to order coffee, after we were evidently waiting for a guest. Appalling, would not recommend.

I wish I were able to review Pranzo’s incredible looking meals but unfortunately so far my experience with their food is restricted to feasting my eyes on the plates around me. Pranzo is my very favourite spot for coffee: the number of coffee loyalty cards I’ve filled here could finance a coup in a small nation. The coffee is nicely chosen, perfectly roasted and doesn’t seem to suffer problems with inconsistency in espresso quality throughout the day as some coffee places do(looking at you Cibo). The service is always impeccable and sometimes just a little bit cheeky. Waits can be slightly long for takeaway coffee but it’s worth it. Walk a little further than your usual and give this place a go — you might be converted.

The good guys dress in black remember that, The M.I.B is back, it’s the Men In Black… oh yeah! I always wondered where half of the male population went after lunch time on a workday and it appears I have found their hang out! Pranzo serves up long, early or late lunches for the professionally suited of Adelaide. A glass of wine in your hand at 11am, 1pm or 4pm doesn’t look out of place here and why not when you are served by the knowledgeable, well versed, wine connoisseurs of Pranzo! You will want to drink in the middle of the day just to be introduced to a new wine maker or grape variety you haven’t tried before. First things first, the meals and wines at the place have a price that isn’t to be sneezed at but… 1) When the boss is paying who cares? 2) If you are paying, treat this as a reward for all that hard work you’re doing. Because the food, service and wine at Pranzo justifies every penny spent. Don’t get distracted by the amazing items on the menu, get the Specials of the Day to be described to you first as Pranzo uses seasonal ingredients and likes to showcase things they have experimented with that day — whether it be house-smoking their own trout or sourcing a special kind of salt-water barramundi from their friends in WA. Or do as the locals do and«describe what your feeling,» and trust in the wine and food pairing experts of Pranzo to serve you up something to suit your taste. When here we dined on herb crusted barramundi(Fish Of the Day) that was so well cooked it flaked as soon as you touched it. With a simple spinach, onion and butter dressing and side, this was spectacularly flavoured for such a simple dish. We also had a marinara pizza that was light and cooked with a perfect crust. Our arms were twisted to try their berry sponge thing with almond icecream. Thinking it was a piece of cake we were shocked when it came out in a terracotta pot(more of a serving for 3 than 2) and yet delighted that it was so big as it was gone in an instant. Hot, caramelly, sweet and not too much sponge, perfect! Finally — I can’t say enough about the service here. The staff remember your name or your face and make you feel welcomed, loved and part of the Pranzo family of suits, men and plenty of eye candy.

The person who gave Pranzo a negative review is clearly is a complete idiot without any taste in wine, food or service and is more likely to feel comfortable eating take-away McDonalds, swilling a bottle of Queen of Adelaide Chardonnay out of a brown paper bag all whilst camping out in the glorious Adelaide parklands. I work in the CBD and Pranzo is the only city lunch place I know of that provides an exception dining experience. Pranzo is always busy, so it’s always best to ring ahead and get a booking, and yes the prices are a little higher, so if you’re a tight ass who doesn’t really have any taste in food or wine and don’t care about service or atmosphere then let’s face it, this place isn’t for you. Starting with the service, Pranzo has to be one of the only restaurants in Adelaide with the exception of fine dining venues where you get REAL service. Real waiters, not lazy uni-students who care about good service, helping you make a selection, ensuring your wine matches your food. The wine list is amazing, it is a unique selection of local and imported wines that it feels like someone has actually taken the time and effort to select for the diners enjoyment, unlike the lazy option that most Adelaide restaurants take, which is order cheap bulk wine from a distributor and stick a large margin on it. The chef clearly cares about the quality of the food, presentation and refreshing the menu on a regular basis. Pranzo is also a great place to meet for a coffee during the day. I have never been there for breakfast so I can’t comment on this, but if it’s anything like lunch, I’d certainly recommend it.

Wouldnt choose to go to this place but it’s close to work and have been to several farewell lunches here over the years. Always busy, lots of legal people doing lunch from surrounding buildings etc., very noisy at lunchtime. Worth pre ordering otherwise takes forever. Very pricey for a lunch venue, a plate of pasta/risotto nudging $ 30, steak fish etc all closer to $ 40. My biggest problem with this place is the choices of wines which is mostly imported, lots of Italian, French, Portuguese wines, really seems unessessary considering this is Adelaide which is awash with brilliant local wines! So you are offered imported wines of indeterminate quality for $ 12 – 15 per glass. On the whole, overrated, overpriced, smallish serves — try somewhere else.

Pranzo is a good place visit for a nice big breakfast before you start work in the city. BREAKFAST The breakfasts at Pranzo are quite tasty, and include healthier options such as bircher muesli with stewed fruit and pot set yoghurt along with interesting cooked breakfasts such as free range eggs poached in Napolitana sauce with grilled bacon and sourdough. LUNCH The café also offers tasty lunches, from the light breaded goat’s cheese with walnut and grape salad to the heavier confit duck, grappa and orange risotto. DIETARYREQUIREMENTS Most of the menu is meat based and people on gluten free diets would need to ask staff what might be suitable for them. There are fish options and there is a limited amount of dishes suitable for vegetarians but I couldn’t see anything for vegans when I visited, except for salad. WINELIST There is an extensive wine list at this café and much of it is pricey but very tasty. SERVICE The service is generally prompt and the waiting staff are nice.
