From time to time, i’ll head into the Botanic Garden’s to do a bit of sketching, and it is nice, between sessions, to stop in at the Botanic Gardens Restaurant from a bite to eat and a coffee. The kiosk itself is quite small, but seating extends for quite a way out from the restaurant and for the most part is shady and tranquil. If you are a smoker beware, anything under a verandah is classified as indoors and you will not be permitted to smoke there. They will likely move you mid coffee, so take than in mind when choosing your spot.

The biggest attraction of the Simpson Kiosk, otherwise known as the Botanic Garden Kiosk, is the beautiful setting. Choose between eating lunch shaded under a giant oak tree or on the edge of a beautiful little lake. It’s a blissful green hideaway just off North Terrace and smack in the middle of the Botanic Gardens. Perfect casual place to meet someone, a small group, bring the kids etc. Mostly offering satisfying pre-made sandwiches… a little chutney here, some brie and roast capsicum there. Not on the menu, but if you ask for a salad they will make one up for you. Also serving basic hot food from 11am — 2pm(chippies, toasties…) and treats(ice cream, bikkies…). All up an enchanting spot, one of my favourite lunch stops, highly recommend!
