Had dinner here on Friday night. Absolutely perfect! Seriously can not fault this place. We had the banquet and were fed adequately. Each dish as good as the last. And with plenty of variety of flavours. Service from the staff was 5 stars in itself. The knowledge of foods and wine to match was outstanding. the friendly atmosphere that they create made dining a pleasure. Will definitely be recommending soi.38 to all my family and friends. And Definately returning for some more amazing cuisine. Well done guys, keep up the great work!

Amazing amazing food! great experience and were able to cater for my Wife who is coeliac, had choice from practically the whole menu. The chicken wings were absolutely delicious but so was our entire order. We ordered Pad Thai which turned out to be a lot spicier than any Pad Thai we have ever had, absolutely bursting with flavour though. If you are after delicious traditional Thai food and quick, friendly service this place is a must.

I’m extremely fussy when it comes to Thai. Not many places meet my standards after being spoiled by the real thing from my local Thai place. I’m happy to say I love love love this place. We went for a friends birthday and as there was a big group we went for the banquet for $ 38. I also indulged in the matched wines for just $ 20 extra — 3 – 4?wines for twenty dollars it would be rude not to. To my surprise the wines were full pours and really well matched with food. Now to the food, it was fresh, tasty and just divine. We had a few at the table with dietary requirements and everything was catered for beautifully so no one missed out. A definite visit for city dwellers.

I may have only tasted four of their dishes, but I believe I would never be disappointed with anything from their kitchen. The food is fresh and interesting and the staff know their stuff. I will definitely be eating there again and getting take-away.

Snazzy! Authentic Thai food with an authentic Thai vibe. Lunch was quite tasty — a little on the small side for a single serving of noodles with meat, and quite an expensive beer($ 15 for a 630mL longneck), but the quality is definitely there. The service was really good with some in-depth explanations about dishes and it all came with a smile :-) I can’t wait to return and try the banquet for dinner! Khob Khun Krap, Sukhumvit Soi.38!

I finally made it to Soi.38 and must say that it is some of the best Thai food I’ve had in the city. It’s a gem of a place on Pulteney Street. I tried the Pinto(banquet) which include about 6 or so different dishes to share. Every single one of the dishes tasted amazing, there wasn’t that one dish I would usually pass off when having an Asain banquet. Highlights were definitely the Kangaroo Massuman Curry, Duck Red Curry and the Stir Fried Minced Chicken. My only quiff with this place(but this may be my cultural ignorance) but when trying to pry away the delicious meat off the bone, and your only equipped with a fork and a spoon, it can lead to loud stabbing noises on your plate or your food becoming a projectile. Mains are around $ 18 – 22. Drinks are a bit pricy. There’s a full menu on the website which also has seasonal specials. Can’t wait to come back; I’ve got a few years to catch up on!

At last! The search for a quality Thai place that combines the best of local produce with authentic Thai flavours might be over. The highlight of our banquet most agreed was the massaman curry using braised kangaroo tail with a rich, flavoursome sauce. I enjoyed the minced chicken with its Lime, fish sauce and chilli, and the succulent beef salad. I missed a little crunch perhaps from broken rice. My long drink was a gin mint and chilli concoction that got better as the flavours infused. I definitely will be returning to see if they can make me a very spicy Tom yum! Service was friendly and bursting with enthusiasm, they are only too happy to discuss ingredients and cooking methods. Go and try it for yourself!

We had a group dinner tonight and it was a great. First time visiting here, love the clean and modern décor and I couldn’t relate this to authentic Thai street food. I had my doubt that this is just another westernised Thai restaurant. Man, did they prove me so wrong. Great serve size and reasonable priced. Amazing flavour. Loved every we had and will definitely coming back for more. Very friendly service and it was so great to feel the positive vibes from their staff. I guess the only thing is I don’t know how can a soft drink more experience than a amazing fresh fruit smoothie.

Previous reviews had me thinking I had to come and try this place. I love Thai food and their claim to fame is «great Thai street food». The name however, somewhat grammatically challenged, had me thinking perhaps they thought too much of themselves and I’ve had plenty of substandard dinners in places that ‘thought’ they were great but really were not and just failed to deliver. Well, Soi.38 delivered. It’s not very big or overly impressive in style/décor but certainly welcoming and you don’t feel awkward or uncomfortable. Our service was great from beginning till end. Our ‘young’ waiter was super excited to explain the wine list, why they had chosen the wines on their menu, and the specifics of the wines we were considering — hands down it was the best wine intro/break down I’ve had at an Asian restaurant where wine frequently plays the second fiddle. My focus however was on the food. We had a tasting plate entrée which allowed us to sample fried chicken wings, crispy prawns, fish cakes and spring rolls, all with exceptional tasting sauces. Southern style yellow beef curry and crispy pork belly stir-fry with rice completed our choices, along with a few glasses of local whites. The food was tasty, hot, sweet, saucy, tangy, delighful and apart from the fact the dishes should be a little larger can’t be faulted. I’ll be back, soon, to have the banquet.

Good location, next to Hungry Jacks and the Putney Street taxi rank. Innovative, and quite large range of dishes. Made from fresh local produce, with plenty of vegetarian options. The servings sizes are restrained, which is a good thing, though you may end up paying more than you expected(the sign says Thai Street Food, but these aren’t Thai street prices!). Best of all the food isn’t swamped with sugar(too many Thai restaurants are). The wine list is a bit disappointing. It’s obvious that someone put some thought into it, and tried to mainly have local wines that are thought to go well with Thai food, unfortunately the end result is a list skewed too much towards fashionable ‘hipster’ wines. There isn’t a single Chardonnay on the list, and only one single straight Shiraz, though on a more positive note there are quite a few Rieslings.

Our first time here, really delicious food, very friendly and approachable staff; we’ll be back for sure. The fact that it’s tasty and they have a local sustainable ethos means that this place will be high on our list of preferred restaurants in Adelaide. We had the Tod Mun, Pad Thai, Crying Tiger and Tom Yum.

I would’ve done 5 stars but I was a bit disappointment with how we were treated when we all first arrived at the restaurant. I did call and speak with a Manager by the name of Apple(like the fruit) and she was very apologetic about the experience and asked for me to visit her on my next booking(because I will still be going back). She did advise me that it will also be brought up in their next team meeting, which I thought was excellent! To me that show they’re passionate about their business :) The Service: I was doing my birthday dinner at this place with 9 people to begin with, when I called up to make a booking they have a rule; if you have more than 6 people you MUST do the banquet at $ 35 per head. Not ideal if you’re on a tight budget but oh my, if you feel like splashing out and want a crane to help exit the building afterwards, it’s definitely worth the extra $$$ I had made changes to my booking twice and added 2 more people an hour before our booking and everything was fine. When we arrived at the restaurant the guy that served us was very frustrated and said he wasn’t told and said to another staff member«she should make up her mind with how many people are coming»…just WOW! Everyone can have a whinge about customers but not when they’re standing there and can hear you. Then it all did a complete 180! We were served by a couple of different people and they were 120% better, I was SOOOO happy with their service! They keep filling our water glasses up, had smiles on their faces, asked how everything was going, told us about the dishes and even took a couple of pictures for us! Towards the end of the night the guy did change his attitude a bit and we did get a smile out of him… The food: Holy Moly! Mannnnn, did I feel like I was sweatin’ down the streets of Thailand! For me personally, I think this is the best Thai food I’ve had since travelling there! I’m not much of a chilli fan and my mouth was on FIRE the whole time… I LOVEDEVERYMINUTEOFIT!!! Normally when you do a banquet there’s that one dish that was just average, they did not disappoint! I enjoy every single dish they put in front of us, the amount of food was tooo much but soooo worth the $ 35 you spend; we even took some home! The star dish for me was the Massaman curry, I had it for the first time in Koh Samui on the beach in this cute little day hut and I instantly went back to that memory! Loved it!

Sukhumvit Soi. 38… It’s a mouthful to say it but this little place off Pultney St is making a name for itself for all the right reasons. Named after a «famous street food address in Bangkok, ‘Soi.38′ aims to bring the best of Thai street food to Adelaide». I think that they have definitely achieved what they set out to, and then some. Firstly I want to say, good on them for picking an authentic thai name for the restaurant. Most would probably call it Soi 38 as the full name is too much for most people, who are used to Thai restaurants with names like«Café Michael» or «Danny’s Thai bistro». On our first visit to Soi 38, I had a duck curry with lychees and it was amazing. The price was fairly standard for good Thai at about $ 25 for a main, so the whole meal was about $ 70 for two mains and two drinks. I think my partner had snapper wing curry which was interesting. After that experience I could have taken or left the place. Great food, but a bit pricey so it was somewhere I would think of for a treat. That all changed this last Saturday night when we went there for my partner’s sisters birthday. She told us that the restaurant had informed her that we had to have a banquet(Pinto set menu) as we had more than 6 people, which we thought was unfair and would cost us more, but we were wrong. Very wrong. For $ 35 each we were slammed with dish after dish of awesome Thai street food. Cold rolls, chicken wings, spring rolls, thai basil beef, massaman pork, satay prawns, salad, veggies and sticky rice. By the end of it we were all saying«no more food… please», because it’s so tasty you can’t stop eating it. I’ll definitely be back for another banquet. Anyone’s birthday or whatever the occasion; I’ll be suggesting Soi 38

Delicious Thai food with the option to eat in or take away! So many gluten free options and the food is wonderful. Good dose of chilli in the chicken stir fry and lovely service! Fairly unassuming in décor but the food is worth the price and will leave you very happy!

Soi 38. has been outstanding since opening night. The owners, complete strangers to me upon first visit, offer such outstanding service and passion for their project. As someone who has traveled to Thailand a number of times, I find it so refreshing and exciting to find true Thai street-style food here in Radelaide. With three of the owners being Thai, and the fourth being an Adelaide gal who was a tour leader in the region for years, it’s not a surprise they are offering up something different. I strongly recommend you share between your friends family-style so you can share in the fantastically tasty and fresh food they have on offer. I would list my favourites, but to be honest every dish I’ve tried is fantastic. I haven’t bothered with the Pad Thai as you can get that anywhere. Instead I recommend you expand your horizons and try something you’ve not tasted before. For lunch, I can’t go past the curried chicken soup as a cheap and tasty study break.

Ok, I cannot help myself. I am totally in love with this dish and I wish I could eat it every day. So, it is Snapper Wings Jungle Curry. Now, if you like hot food this one is for you. If you are not partial to chilli, avoid this meal. The Snapper wings are lightly battered, fried and full of flavour! There are hints of many different spices within the batter, but not overwhelming. As for jungle curry sauce, well that is packed with a punch, complimented with thai basil and slightly acidic. I can imagine this meal being served as street food in Thailand. The flesh from the snapper wings is sweet, moist and tender. But, you do have to get into it with your hands, and is kind of messy. I would have struggled to use a knife and fork. Lucky, it doesn’t bother me using my hands. As for the restaurant itself, it’s décor doesn’t really feel like a Thai Street Food vendor. It just kind of looks like any other restaurant. It would have been cool to theme it kind of pop up style with bamboo or crates or something. Add something else to the experience. But, this doesn’t bother me too much as the food is amazing!

Here’s a new Thai Kid on the block, Sukhumvit SOI.38 Thai Street Food. Doing much of the usual Thai food. but with a lot of other tasty things I’ve not seen on the streets before. They area trying to be a little more authentic so some might get too hot for some Aussies :) My 1st visit, I had some ‘Tiger Lily’ grilled steak. nicely cooked sliced beef with a delicious dipping sauce, served with a side of Sticky Rice. All very nice. I will have to be trying more. even down to their $ 10 lunch specials

First day open, first dinner trade. This Thai street food restaurant is going to be a hit. We had the Chiangmai sausage served with lemon and fresh cooling vegetables. The chicken larp and sticky rice and the sweet and spicy Pad Khee Mao with pork. Everything was delicious. The décor really well done and the service warm and attentive. They will have EFTPOS in a few days and a liquor license in six weeks.
