My friend refer me to this restaurant as they do 3 dollars per plate at lunch time. Yes, 12 – 2:30. Walked in, pretty busy, but somehow non of the waitress was smiling. I said one person, and she kinda directed me in then walked away. I was standing there not sure where she wants me to sit. I have to find someone again to find a seat. No smile still. I sat on a two people table with iPad ordering system. Guess what waitress, I never been here and I don’t know how to use your iPad ordering. Omg, I was very annoyed by their services. Finally got a girl to show me, and she did it without saying one word to me. Wth. Anyway, I made my order, then I just wait. No one offer me a drink or anything. I need to call a girl for glass of water. Soon, my food is here. Same, they just dump the plates in front of you and left. Seriously, their services is so terrible. Now, let talk about food now. 2⁄5 dishes were horrible and it was the first time, I didn’t finish my sushi. It’s cheap at lunch time, but it doesn’t mean you can lower your quality. To sum up, food is cheap, quality is cheap, service is horrible. Don’t think I’ll go back anytime soon. Good luck.

Full disappointment, low quality and extremely small cuts, our sashimi looked like a mini cuts from kids menu. The grade for tuna was clearly not sashimi, full of blood vessels

Not what I expected, I am so disappointed and still yet to find a decent Japanese in Adelaide. The food was below average and I actually feel like I have thrown away money. The avocado roll they brought to my son was disgraceful. It was hard and rubbery like it probably sat there all day. How do you serve that to a toddler? Did not realise till I left, they overcharged me too. Now I feel stupid! Oh well, never again. lesson learnt at this one.

The top chefs at Sushi Bar Genki consistently make the best sushi in town. It’s a highly authentic atmosphere, utilizing the latest methods of ordering and general hospitality. The sushi is generally always fresh, but sometimes can be on the conveyor for a while so it might not be 100% fresh. It can easily be a pricy trip if you opt for the more premium dishes. Unfortunately they have just increased their prices further which was disappointing. It’s my favourite place to eat sushi, and will continue to be for some time i’m sure!

Do you speak sushi? If you want to practice your skills Bar Genki is definitely the place! Diversity, tasty and friendly is what to expect when you visit this restaurant! So far, the best sushis I have tried in Adelaide… Furthermore I have enjoyed the IPAD on the table to order whatever I wanted… the food is amazing, fresh, high quality… and if you are still hungry for dessert, I would recommend you to try the black sesame ice cream…

Sushi is awesome. Great variety. You can either pick sushi off the convey belt or order through ipad.

Delicious sushi, impressive menu and friendly staff. The whole idea is kind of cool — you order food on an iPad attached to each table — which also show pictures of all the tasty sushi. You can also grab food off the sushi train. The salmon sashimi and ngiri were amazing, and the tofu was great. A cool experience, mouth-watering sushi and fast service — all in one.

Sushi Bar Genki has great food, friendly service and manages to be pretty chic with a train running through the restaurant. As everyone will have mentioned, you place your table order on an iPad, but of course you can take from the train. Their ramen and udon are delicious, and I recommend ordering yourself a hot sake with edamame beans and agedashi tofu as starters. I’m conservatively listing the price at Moderate because no one can resist pulling at few plates off a sushi train along with dinner.

You know know what they say when the food is really good! OISHII! Sushi in Genki is definitely delectable, by far one of the two best sushi restaurants in town. Now I must take this time to praise my favorite dish so that everyone else give this dish a go. The aburi salmon sushi. Aburi sushi can be called the simple yet complex dish. It cannot be cooked through yet the surface has to be burned ever so slightly to bring out the smooth creamy texture of salmon. Well, you’ve guessed it, Genki mastered it. Not only do they offer aburi salmon, there are 4 awesome variety. So go and get your taste buds the TLC they deserve. If there’s some spare space, don’t forget the teriyaki chicken mayo too!(; On the end note, put everything else aside. sushi and asahi is the only reason why you be there for happy hour.

As an avid lover of Sushi Train I could not wait to try Genki, and it didn’t disappoint. Not only can you grab fresh sushi straight off the train as it goes around but you can order off an iPad. At every station and booth there is an iPad with the full food and drinks menu available to be delivered to you at the touch of a button. The service is unbelievably quick and if you have an issues you can push a button on the iPad and a person will immediately come over and assist. The sushi is fabulously fresh and slightly cheaper than franchise Sushi Train although the servings per plate are also smaller. I can’t highly recommend this place enough! The only slight issue I have is that they don’t offer split bills. Apart from that you need to walk, run, or roll to Genki right now.

Without my parents excitement at the novelty of moving sushi wooshing by our booth as we were eating, or the fact they could order whatever they wanted to eat from the iPad at our table, this place would have initially seemed like any other sushi train in Adelaide to me. You can spend hours being distracted by the iPads on the table or the seemingly family holiday photos of trips throughout Japan on the TV screens. However, it was the food that made it quickly evident why this place has deserved the 5 stars it has been receiving. I am a simple sushi slider and consistency of quality and freshness of fish is the key to a sea-mingly good meal. So here are my top picks: — Arrive between 3−6pm to start with a $ 5 pint of Asahi and snacks(lotus root crisps and endamame) special. — Start with an $ 8 plate of kingfish, tuna and salmon sashimi(chunky, tender and shiny raw fish shows signs of great quality and fresh seafood) — Salmon, kingfish and scallop ngiri should be next to add some rice to your palette — Finish up with the double zinger, super spicy hot salmon rolls(that’s definitely not what they are called) but you will remember that they say they are super spicy and that without wasabi it’s only a little kick to the mouth.

The tempura is cold and soggy — clearly cooked in bulk then stuck in the fridge. Quality isnt that good, and service is a little clueless.

Sensational sushi! Sushi Bar Genki is reminiscent of sushi bars in Japan with accompanying cries of «welcome» and«thank you» entering and leaving –in Japanese if course! A very comprehensive menu of sushi roll, nigiri, gunkan(yet to try), hand roll, sashimi, tapas and a la carte udon noodles. Asahi beer, sakes, plum wine & hot & cold green tea complete the full Japanese experience. Every plate tried was exceptionally fresh and the service was immediate, friendly and professional. Delightful staff guide us through the iPad ordering system and service is speedy. We are also encouraged to try freshly prepared plates from the train by our chef — a fantastic spicy tuna semi roll & the even tastier seafood deluxe jumbo roll. A perfect combination of train and bar experience with booths or tables for 2 if your personal space is feeling fragile. Oh yeah — sushi heaven!
