Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, typical for dim sum yum cha time. Place is not placed like I am used to, but the food is still fresh. I tried my staple shrimp dumplings and it was good but lacked flavor. Surprised me to find scallops in it. The beef ball was tasty with the sauce. The soft shelled crab was nicely fried with great flavor. I would not recommend the sil Mai, that is hard pork meat, too dry. I give it 3.5 stars for food and 4.5 Service. They are friendly and not rude.

Awesome selection, great location, and friendly service. I found the food a bit salty, but I’m known to be sensitive to this, so you may have a different experience. If you have a big group of people and you want a Chinese restaurant in the city with a really broad menu, this is for you.

«A well proportioned feed with great service.» Positioned perfectly in the Chinatown main strip, this has to be one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants in Adelaide. The minute you walk in you are greeted by a warm smile and quick service. As soon as you’re seated you are presented with a well set out menu with easy, clear to read Chinese and English with illustrations(which I thought was a nice touch). As mentioned before, the service is punctual and is just right in terms of it not being too quick but not too slow that you’re waiting for too long. The food is well presented, fresh and is extremely delicious with a massive selection of authentic Chinese dishes and Australia classics like lemon chicken. Portions are fair and are usually on the generous side. The décor is minimalistic to a degree and is well set out. A modern room with an appropriate colour scheme surrounds you as you eat and look at the high quality authentic Chinese artwork. As an added bonus, there are Lobster and King Crab tanks on the Southern wall which you can order from. It adds to the relaxing atmosphere even though it’s usually extremely busy whenever you’re there. The price per dish is well thought out and is commensurate with what you receive as a customer. I have no quarrels with the prices. Overall I was extremely impressed with this restaurant and I highly recommend it. Service: 5⁄5 Product: 5⁄5 Décor & Cleanliness: 5⁄5 Hospitality: 5⁄5 Price: 5⁄5

We dine here probably 3 – 4 times a year, visited recently for a birthday dinner for a group of 12. Had the $ 38 banquet which we felt was pretty much as expected but not all diners felt full at the end. You certainly a get a good meal and the place is always busy the yum-cha is also quality for lunch during the day, but you do get what you pay for and the staff aren’t always too attentive. One thing that was a bit poor is that they charged the corkage per person rather then per bottle(which is what was noted on their website). When we pointed this out, they did fix it as only a few people were drinking wine that night, but double/triple check your bill before paying it. They don’t split bills so if your coming in a group bring enough cash to pay in one transaction. Get the shallot pancakes!

So very disappointed. We went here after hearing good reports and from the minute we walked in had bad service. Took 10 minutes to take a drinks order and all three of our courses were cold and dry by the time they came out. We asked for the bill and were charged a $ 1 surcharge for god knows what and corkage(by the glass apparently) never coming back.

I REALLYNEEDTOSTOPARRIVINGPLACESDRUNK Wow…that makes me sound less than classy. The problem is that on a weekend, after a couple of afternoon wines, a girls still gotta eat — like seriously, even though I often joke about ‘eating is cheating(when drinking)’ — if you don’t eat, shizz gets real. Anyhow, I gracefully strolled(read, stumbled) into T Chow on a Saturday night with a group of pals(some were at my level, others were better behaved) — we’d been vying for Ky Chow but the line for a table was out the door! We were quickly seated in the HUGE dining area and promptly given menus — which was great. Although the words were kind of fuzzy on the page, I managed to point out something I wanted to my more sober pals. They then proceeded to order several plates and some entrees. The shallot pancakes were good– ya can’t go too wrong! We also had a crispy beef dish — similar but not as good to what is on offer at Ky Chow(yes, I know… I’m doing a lot of comparing here…). It was rather fatty in comparison, as was the sweet and sour pork. Special fried rice was fine and the hot pot we ordered was very tasty, although not mind blowingly amazing. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either… let’s be honest, I’m probably going to have to return to give an honest review but I hope that my drunken escapades could entertain you! On a side note, on the way here, my friend and I decided to push each other in a discarded shopping trolley we found. I’m pretty unco and managed to tip it with her in it. There was a guy filming it — if you are that guy or know him, or have seen this on YouTube, get in touch!!!

I really dig this place. It’s cheap and the food is amazing. I’ve been coming here for maybe 15 years? Back when it was a tiny little Chinese place with shark fins on the wall. I don’t generally like shark fin soup, but the shark fin soup here is a must have. Get the ginger scallops, the coral trout and the T Chow tender duck. Also, get the abalone. Bring a whole heap of friends and share everything. Your hopes. Your dreams. Also, get one of the great wines on offer that normally lack from Chinese eateries. I get very excited when I get to go to T Chow. I know I’m in for an awesome meal and a great night.

Am I the only one who had a bad experience at this place? The service was terrible. The table didn’t even have a proper table cloth, it was like an overly large paper napkin. Once we ordered, the food came rather quickly… probably because it wasn’t very good. The food had really weird spices and some of the food was a little undercooked. I also didn’t feel very comfortable eating there because the staff were just watching me and my family eat, it was very awkward. Part of me wants to go again because of all the rave reviews this restaurant gets but I don’t think I can muster up the courage to go there again.

I haven’t been back to T-Chow in a while; not since my girlfriend alerted me to the terrible practice of shark finning. Shark’s Fin Soup happens to be one of this restaurant’s specialties, and I now try to stay away from restaurants that offer this dish on the menu. It’s a shame, as T-Chow is a truly superb Chinese restaurant. The dining area is spacious and comfortable, though the seats are quickly filled at the beginning of evening. With a large selection of traditional Chinese items on the menu, you’ll need at least ten minutes to make a definitive decision, as you’ll undoubtedly be spoiled for choice. The crocodile tail is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had at any Chinese restaurant — a delicacy quite similar to chicken, its an exotic dish that will please even the most timid. Definitely give this dish a try — you’ll be surprised at how tasty a croc can be. Though my personal afflictions will keep me away from this place until they decide to replace the shark’s fin soup with a synthetic alternative(one can hope), don’t let it stop you. This is one restaurant you’ll want to jot down in your diary.

T Chow wopuld be one of my top choices for Chinese in Adelaide. Great for groups, the menu is extensive and you have the option of eating in or takeaway. They also offer Yum Cha everyday, and the Yum Cha is worth trying. The steamed BBQ pork buns are really damn good. It’s enough to make me want to go here just for them. Theres plenty of other options on the menu. Another reason why it’s great for groups.

I feel there are two types of Chinese Restaurants in Australia, ‘Australian Chinese’ and ‘Chinese Chinese’. The former caters to the Ozzie palet, used to Chinese from your average local take away. The latter is the way it should be, the way the creaters of the cuisine meant it. T-Chow is definately a ‘Chinese Chinese’ restaurant, and a damn good one at that! I first went to T-Chow around 6 years ago, and loved every mouthful. It isn’t the prettiest of interiors, and it always seems to be under construction, but it is fairly big and rarely less that half full. I have not had the Yum Cha there as of yet, so I will have to bow to my fellow Unilocalers opinions, but the normal dining options are vast and ever changing! In the tradition of many Chinese Restaurants in the city the daily specials are written on colourful paper and stuck on the wall, and there are usually almost as many as those that appear on the printed menu. I have had the pleasure of trying the soft shell crabs from the ‘post it’ menu and it was crabtastic! The Salt and Pepper Tofu is also surprisingly good(I hate tofu). If you haven’t been there and love a good Chinese feed, join the masses and jump on board… if you prefer some fried rice and some greasy honey/lemon chicken then it probably isn’t the place for you!

Add this place to the list of Chows — Ying Chow, Ky Chow, and now T Chow. They aren’t affiliated, by the way. The name T Chow probably comes from the food, Teo Chew cuisine. This restaurant has been around longer than the other Chows, since I was a kid. It displays classic royal Chinese décor with lanterns, paintings of dragons, and fish. It’s a bit dimly lit, but once your food comes out all is forgotten. Daily yum cha is on offer, and an extensive takeaway menu as well as BYO(wine only) available. While the serving sizes aren’t as much as before, their stellar quality remains. The T Chow chicken, minced pork and green beans, fried bean curd, and T Chow duck are just some of the recommended dishes. A spacious, family friendly restaurant, helpful and efficient staff, and reasonable prices are just some of the things to expect when you’re at T Chow.

Great for a banquet, T Chow’s spacious dining room and large tables adorned with Lazy Susan’s make it a great place to head when eating out with a large group of people. Although the décor is nothing to write home about the food is fantastic and the menu has some great little numbers on it which are well worth trying. Some favorites of mine are the Cabbage Rolls(prawn and Chinese mushroom wrapped in cabbage and deep fried), pork mice and green beans, the oyster omelette and the salt and pepper soft shell crab. I also once had an incredible dish of cockles there, however, last time I looked it didn’t seem to be on the menu. Not sure if it was a special, but keep your eye out for it.
