Old time favourite of mine, I have never had a bed feed here. The home made gnocci is out of this world and unlike anything I have eaten before. I find it difficult to ever try anything else on the menu due to it being THAT good. Dessert pizza you say, melted chocolate, strawberry’s and cream on delish dough. Which you always have room for given you have a whole separate stomach for dessert right? Or is that just me? They have two locations, Albert Park and Chapel Street, I really like the ambiance of the Albert park location but both serve food just as good as each other.

Worst-ever pizzas. «Gourmet» said the menu, but they would have been put to shame by a chain pizza shop in a country town at 3 am. Pumpkin splatters served with cold raw slices of tomato and gluggy base. «Marinara» comprised shrimps poured from a tin with a few slivers of calamari and 3-only tinned or bottled mussels all placed on one slice. It’s a family-style restaurant and we know some of the other dishes are OK, but what have the kids done to deserve this?

Pretty meh Italian restaurant but great if you have kids and low standards. Nothihg particularly wrong with it, and the prices are reasonable. Service is a fairly good considering the confusion a restaurant full of kids can create.

Basilico is a good, reliable Italian restaurant. Very much child-friendly, this is the place to come with the family for a fuss-free meal. Offering a nice alternative to the more pricey establishments on Albert Park’s ritzy Bridport Street, Basilico has become a fast favourite. Perfect for those days when you’re feeling too lazy to cook but not quite lazy enough to call for takeaway. While the food isn’t going to change your world, it sure is good. Think classic italiano fare, with wood fired pizzas and a wide range of pastas. All the favourites are there from spaghetti bolognese to the good old fashioned supreme pizza. However Basilico’s extensive pizza list does come with a few quirks. Thin crusted and cooked to perfection, this place offers a whole lot more than the soggy Hawaiians. The Zia Diana is particularly great, with zucchini, eggplant, peppers, olives, artichokes, goats cheese and pesto. Basilico is the kind of local restaurant that you come to rely on, an easy Sunday night alternative that leaves you feeling stress-free.
