We popped in here for a quick bite, the ownership has just changed hands and the new owner was in store asking people what they thought and what could be improved upon, so nice to see a business owner asking their patrons for advice. We had 2 wraps, they were both lovely tand fresh he soft drink fridge was empty but we were told he was trying to speak to reps about filling … that was a little disappointing. Overall great ambience and friendly service.

I have a friend who drives from Mosman Park to get his lunch rolls from Toscanini’s. Living in Applecross for most of his life started the infatuation, and after moving, he couldn’t stop. While I wouldn’t encourage spending a good hour on the road each day to get lunch, it is worth popping in to treat yourself every now and then. Toscanini’s specialises in gourmet sandwiches and rolls — they have an awesome range of salad ingredients, deli meats and condiments. Plus the bread they use is heaven: crisp and crunchy on the out, soft on the in. I ordered a roll the other day for my first time, filling it with chicken, lettuce, carrot, beetroot, tomato, jalepeno, eggplant strips and mayo. It was expensive, like 11 bucks. But boy was it good. My mouth just filled with saliva at the memory. Toscanini’s also does house-made quiches, focaccias, salads, gourmet small goods and cakes. On summer days, it can get really hot(there’s no air-conditioning), and that tends to takes away from the charm of the place, but generally an unfailing lunch spot with indoor/outdoor dining.

Toscanini’s in Applecross is a wonderful place where I believe they might just make the best coffee I have ever tasted. Although Toscanini’s does have a Canning Highway address, the café/restaurant is located on Moreau Mews. Parking is great, although on the street, it is paid parking. The atmosphere is wonderful and you are surrounded by Applecross, just down the road from the river. If you choose to dine in, they offer a wide variety of Italian food, but if you are in a rush and don’t have time, don’t miss their beautiful rolls. They bake their own bread which is delightful and your roll is prepared fresh. My favourites are definitely the mixed meat with salad and the chicken schnitzel with salad. Everything is so fresh and tasty. And make sure you wash it all down with a cup of coffee. I must admit that the staff are always busy, but I don’t mind waiting a few minutes to be served. It is well worth it! Toscanini’s also offer loyalty cards — one for coffee and one for meals. My advice to anyone who works near by, walk, don’t drive. It is much easier and saves you the hassle of losing your own hard to get parking space in Applecross.
