Mrs Luu, Mrs Luu, you have changed my working week forevermore. Each Friday for the past few weeks, a work mate and I have been ducking out to see you, to have a quick, tasty and fresh Vietnamese lunch. We couldn’t contain our excitement, so this has now become known as bahn Mi Friday, the order list gets longer and the punters get happier each week. What is it about you, Mrs Luu? You’re delicious, crusty baguettes spread with butter and pâté, your tasty salad and coriander, your perfectly seasoned meats, your affordable price tags. We are gradually working our way through the menu and are never disappointed. The only thing we struggle with is the parking around your kitchen, but we have a finely tuned process of doing phone orders and quick run in to pick up our bag of deliciousness(and extra chili). And we would love to see the Vietnamese iced coffee machine at Bowen Hills too! Thank you Mrs Luu, for making a group of starving office workers extremely happy and content each week.

You’ve done it again Mrs Luu’s. Still probably the best Bahn Mi in the city. Service is very quick and easy. Unfortunately if you drive you need to search a bit for some parking, but it’s worth it. I really hope they open a location in the CBD soon so I can enjoy the food on a more regular basis. The people working in Newstead and Milton are very lucky.

If bowerbirds liked pink; then you could slap some wings on me and call me ‘Beaky’ … In all honesty, the big pink logo drew me in. I’m a sucker for cute logos and inventive graphic design. Mrs Luu’s could have been the purveyor of blue soup and cardboard biscuits and, based on the iconography, I’d still have given it a try. Fortunately, their food is delicious. Also, it’s incredibly convenient for me. Nestled between the YMCA gym and the local Bowen Hills superchurch, Mrs Luu’s is a haven for fare that’s a little bit different than the standard light industrial neighbourhood’s ‘chew and spew’ haunts. Now, to be fair, I do love a crumbed sausage, but my slowly increasing waistline isn’t as much of a fan of fat fried in lard. My personal favourite dish at Mrs Luu’s is the Goi Cuon. Six dollars worth of rice paper roll is a recipe for delicious, inexpensive goodness. The best bit about the rice paper rolls is that they’re an example of «here’s something we’ve prepared earlier.» This means that Vietnamese food is delivered to you quickly. The need to get food in my belly is nearly immediately quelled by these tasty morsels. The staff are friendly and the service is speedy. It’s almost impossible to complain about Mrs Luu’s, especially now that they’ve got EFTPOS up and running!
