I don’t think I could eat a pie whilst sober anymore, but I do drink coffee! and Pie Face sells reasonably priced takeaway coffee! These guys are all over the CBD and must be doing okay if they’re still there after all this time? Anyway, I was in need of a caffeine hit before I hit the books and did some assignments, I was in a rush and the only two places on my way to the library were 7⁄11 and Pie Face, well that was an easy choice — I would rather drink a cup of disinfectant than touch a 7⁄11 coffee again. Pie Face is brewing Di Bella coffee and have very competitve prices; $ 4.50 for a large! Atmittidely It wasn’t the best cappuccino I’ve ever had but it got me through the afternoon so that’s a win in my books.

Its a small shop with some seating space inside and some public seating space outside. Good latte, and excellent mediterranean panini. Good service as well.

I love pies. I love pies in the summer and pies in the winter. The lack of pie was the biggest blight on my culinary landscape when I lived in Paris(obviously this was balanced by the rest of the awesome food, but I still missed them). I think it’s because I was vegetarian for most of my life, and a vegetable pie or pasty is pretty much the only fall back on a cold morning or late evening(although I’ve never been brave enough for a servo pie). Discovering Pie Face on a rainy work afternoon seemed like a gift(I followed the pastry smell straight to their door). A whole shop of pies! Yay! There must be a few vego options yeah? Um… no. Just one actually. OK, I can work with that. Unless it’s CRAP. Thanks Pie Face, you have a whole shop of delicious looking pies, and the only vego option you can come up with is a bizarro world take on a curry veg? The curry was no curry flavour I know of, and the addition of red kidney beans was just odd. I ended up chucking it half way through as it wasn’t worth the calories. And frankly if I’m saying that it really wasn’t worth the calories as I can forgive a lot if it’s wrapped in pastry. Now I’m in the land of the meatasaurus I should probably try again as the rest of the patrons seemed pretty happy, but I’m really not that enthused.

Who wouldn’t love a McDonalds competitor in the open 24 hours arena. Especially in the city after a late night. A late hungover night, a late night kicked out by your girlfriend or boyfriend. They serve not only pies here but desserts, coffee(4 levels of caffeine hit here) that doesn’t taste like it’s from the drain and sandwiches and baguettes! Who’d have thought, a pie shop in Brisbane. What a smart idea. I have always been a bit picky about pies, but to be honest, I don’t think you should go to a pie shop and not order the pie… because it’s got the word ‘pie’ in the name… screw ordering the other stuff, i’ll get to that later, if the pie is good. And I walked up to the counter and proceeded to get a chunky steak pie. And all was good. And I ate the whole thing. And the pastry was good. And I ate the flakes off my little plate too. I will definetely be back, even if it was the late night hungries making me a tad biased. It was good okay?
