We got one of the«High Tea for Two» vouchers for Coffee & Chocolate a few months back, and visited the place for lunch on a Sunday. The place was reasonably busy, however the staff were attentive and the food and drink were served up in a very reasonable amount of time. The high tea itself was okay, some of the items were very delicious, while others were a bit disappointing. Overall, okay. The drinks were good, I had a frappé which was very refreshing, and my wife got a HUGE pot of tea which was very good. We did find an issue with the cleanliness of the cutlery; the teaspoon was oily and one of the knives had food stains on it… But we managed to get replacement cutlery which was clean, so that’s ok :)

I purchased a high tea via Ouffer and used it over the weekend. $ 25 for High Tea for two. The staff seemed run off their feet and it was a shame our food arrived after we had finished our coffees. Lovely view of the mall. Portions were generous.

Located at the second/top level inside the Queensplaza, this is a nice spot to get a quick treat of coffee and handmade chocolate while having a nice view of the Queens St mall. I have been at this location a handful of times. While I’m not terribly impressed with their coffee or other assorted drinks, I do appreciate the larger scale of options(frappes, iced drinks, hot chocolates, coffee flavorings — including chili!) Apparently their chocolate are handmade, I’m somewhat doubtful as I don’t think they actually make them on-site. They are all pretty. Overall, if you’re looking for a spot to rest your legs with a view of Queens St mall, this is it. If you’re looking for exceptional chocolates and coffee, you can definitely find better spots.

Featuring a vast array of handcrafted and gourmet chocolates(flavours include enticing names like ‘Ruby’ and ‘Pink Flamingo’), as well as cakes and slices, Coffee and Chocolate is the perfect shopping pit stop for those who like to indulge. Think of this place as a giant, store sized version of a box of Whitman’s Samplers. Then prepare to drool. Located on level one of QueensPlaza, you’ll often see couples sharing a slice of cake, or a table of girlfriends gossiping over plates of chocolates here. I came here with a friend who went for a pick and mix of chocolates, while I couldn’t go past the sticky date pudding. When my pudding came out it was served on some very stylish home ware and looked very presentable. As I hacked into it, I remember thinking, ‘Thank the sweet lord I ordered a pot of chamomile tea’. The sticky date pudding was sickly sweet and rich beyond belief. It was delicious, that’s for sure, but i would regard visits to Coffee and Chocolate as something of a treat every once in a while than making it my regular coffee haunt.

I’m a sucker for hand made chocolates. Back when Myer and DJ’s used to have proper food halls I was always drooling over the chocolate cases before scrounging around to buy one special treat. In the same vein Coffee & Chocolate is much more about the chocolate than the coffee. Brisbane has caught up with coffee culture and there are some serious coffee vendors in the CBD. Coffee & Chocolate isn’t one of them. They do, however, have a delightful range of handmade goodies that I can’t seem to resist(maybe the fact it’s up a few levels makes me feel like I’ve earned one). Again, probably not the BEST chocolate I’ve had, but a very welcome pick me up after a long days shopping.

I have been to this little café on the top level of Queens Plaza twice; it’s situated where my shopping trips usually need a little break and a much deserved caffeine hit. That said, I’m not overly impressed with the place. The coffee is drinkable but definitely not the best in the city(although they do come in very cute wonky cups), the mini chocolate treats are fairly tasty(try the white chocolate snowmen, the best choice by far) although not the best, and the staff are friendly and polite. But this café is simply just average; not even the floor to ceiling windows that look out over the mall can save it. If you want a decent view and a place to rest your weary feet, its an okay choice. But I’d rather hit the food court below, or one of the many other coffee shops the city has to offer.
