I’m not a burger snob. McDonald’s, Hungry Jacks, Grill’d, Burger Edge, Burger Urge… if they serve burgers, I will eat them. If they are cheap, even better. However, I avoid Fab Burger like the Plague. Where do I start? It’s not a cheap burger place, and therefore you would expect nothing but the best, correct? Except, and here lies the problem, they seem to have all the premium ingredients with zero knowledge on how to use them. I have never had anything more flavorless and dry in my life than Fab Burger patties. I wish I was joking, but I’m not. I tasted 3 different burgers(that my boyfriend, his mate, and myself bought) and none of them were up to par. Maybe they were having a bad day, but it was enough to throw us off. Don’t waste your money here.

Good burgers, good value… However, that’s only if you get it on a cheap Tuesday or when deals are going. Although, I come regularly — since I grab my beer next door(great if you love craft beers & wines). Recommended for a quick feed w/friends or if your short on time.

I had the pulled pork burger. It was extremely good. This is not your average burger joint. There is a lot of variety on the menu, next time I’m going to try the vege burger. It was a very busy night when we went and we were served promptly and didn’t have to wait too long for our meals.

I like this place. This isn’t your typical greasy burger joint that serves you old meat on a white bread bun with oily hot chips. If McDonalds is your idea of a good burger, don’t bother coming here because your taste buds won’t appreciate what this awesome little joint has to offer. Try something different and get their vego burger. I’m not even a vegetarian and I prefer this burger over a meat burger. The portobello mushroom is juicy and flavorful, and tastes awesome with the grilled halloumi and capsicum relish on top. Mmmmm, I’m not even hungry now and I feel like I could go with one. I don’t know about the others who said they had bad service here, but I’ve experienced the exact opposite. Staff here has been friendly and accommodating, always smiling and appreciative of us stopping by. Only downside is price — $ 14 for a burger… that’s borderline criminal and for that they get 4 stars. If their prices were more reasonable for what they are serving, then I would give them 5 out of 5 stars. Give it a try, you may have an awesome experience like me.

I got the Ab FaB burger because there’s avocado, caramelized onions and bacon all wrapped up in one. If there was a trifecta of burger ingredients, the holy trinity as it were, this would be it. However, I soon discovered that I liked the idea for this burger a lot more than the thing itself. At first glance, the presentation wasn’t great(take a look at the photo that I posted). The burger tasted like its individual parts and did not mesh well at all. Each bite consisted of one ingredient at a time so I never got to enjoy the synergistic qualities of all three together. The bottom bun was soggy from what I could only guess was the jus from the caramelized onions and the chips were undercooked. On the plus side though the toasted bun was very enjoyable and the aioli dressing tasted very good. The service though a little sparse(I had to walk up to the counter to order and pay) was courteous and efficient enough. From the looks of the other reviews, I might have been here on an off day. There were quite a few other items that looked interesting so I might have to make another trip to try them out.

Just went to see a flick at Barracks and was very happy to find this burger spot when I came out. And… all burgers are $ 9.95 on Tuesdays! I had the vegetarian option– the biggest mushroom I have ever seen, haloumi, roasted capsicum, aioli etc Absolutely delicious!

Fantastic burgers, full of flavour and not too tall like the ones you get at grilled which fall apart when you try tho pick them up. Also a very good beer selection too. Service is fast so you can nip in for a quick bite to eat before your movie at the Palace Barracks cinema.

Fab Fish & Burger Grill is a pretty decent option for a pre-movie nosh session before you head into the Palace Barracks cinemas. It’s a dine-in or take-away restaurant with a casual atmosphere and as other Unilocalers have said, the staff seem to change regularly but the service is always top-notch. Even better is the fact most burgers are under $ 15. I went with the ‘Mary’ burger(herbed lamb, lettuce, tomato, grilled haloumi, capsicum relish and aioli). It was fresh, delicious and hit the spot. They also do a sand crab lasagne which has my name on it… stay tuned.

Burgers are a little bit like Mexican food lately, in that they’ve become something of a fad and there a new places popping up everywhere. Maybe it started with the ever-popular, ever-delicious Grill’d chain, but however this burger craze started, I’m not complaining. FaB stands for fish and burgers. I’ve never had fish here, but y’know, I’m vego. I can vouch for the freshness, largeness, and engineering feats that are FaB’s burgers, though. I’ve had their regular veggie burger(vegetable patty, beetroot, tomato sauce etc.) and also tried their portobello mushroom burger where they use a huge grilled mushroom instead of a patty. Both burgers of high esteem. It can get pretty frantic here at certain times, but for the most part it’s a relaxing place to grab a bite. The waiters seem to change a lot and are made up of a rotating cast of backpackers of various nationalities so you can always rely on some exotic accents. Despite the frequency of new waiters, they all seem to learn the ropes fast because the service is reliable and fast. I emphasise this because there’s nothing worse than going out for dinner before a movie(in this case, at Palace Barracks) and spending the whole meal watching the time and worrying that you’re going to miss the start. FaB is a great place for a meal with friends because it’s a comfortable environment, the volume is conducive to conversation, and even the fussiest eater will find something to enjoy. A fun, casual, and tasty place to indulge your burger fandom.

Gourmet burger restaurants have been popular in Brisbane for while now, I am constantly seeing new ones pop up around the corner. This place, is one of my favourite gourmet burger joints. Just writing about how much I love their burgers has be salivating. I especially love the beef burgers as their patties are nice and moist– you can tell they have used good quality meat here. My favourite burger would have to be the ‘Blues Brother’ which combines a beef pattie with pumpkin and blue cheese. I love the chips here too, they are thin, crispy and extra salty– exactly how I like them! Come here on a Tuesday night when all burgers are only $ 10! Even if you do not come on a Tuesday, these burgers are not too expensive– all under $ 15. The service is usually pretty good too– the waiters have always been friendly and efficient in getting our orders. If you are in the mood for a gourmet burger and are feeling overwhelmed by all the different options, then let me help you out by saying ‘FAB’ is the way to go!

A worthy contender among the gourmet burger heavyweights, I’ve enjoyed having a quick bite here before heading out to the nearby City or Valley for a night’s revelry. As an interesting sidenote, the owners also own Pizzeria 1889 next door. I guess pizza and burgers are a pretty safe bet in the popularity stakes. As a spice-lover I’m always on the lookout for a truly spicy meal, so it’s little wonder that on my first visit to FF&BG I went for the evocatively named ‘After Burner’. The results weren’t disappointing; the piquant chilli interacted well with the smoky relish and sour cream, creating a very satisfying taste. Of course, it could always be hotter…

Sometimes there’s nothing better than a good burger, and the burgers at FaB are just that. There’s a wide variety to choose from, but a couple of my favourites include the Mary(with lamb, relish and grilled haloumi) and the Blues Brother(beef with salad, roast pumpkin and blue cheese). The atmosphere at the Palace Barracks is very casual and trendy, and FaB is just quirky enough to fit in. Free two hour parking is also a big plus. The outdoor seating makes for a fun atmosphere for groups, during the day or night. Our waitress was very friendly, and we were given water very soon after arrival. Service was fast, and if you’re on the run like I was, it’s handy to be able to pay at the counter. Burger prices are $ 10 and over,(the steak burger is the most expensive at $ 14.95), and a side of fries is only $ 3 — which makes for a cheap meal. Great deal: most burgers are $ 10 on Tuesdays!
