Though we were going to the theater we landed on game day(meal deals) and could not be happier that we had! Let’s take a quick look at the numbers: 4 people, 4 meals(pulled pork and bacon burgers), 5 beers, 2 sides of fries and only $ 62! i.e. impossible to beat! The atmosphere was good a cross of hipster and quality that did not disappoint and can be difficult to find. Fast service and comfy seats. I guarantee we will be back!

I never thought I’d say this — there was too much avocado on my smashed avo. It came sandwich style(2 pieces of toast) with about an inch of avo in between. I scraped off about half. Also, the lemon was a wheel shaped slice of lemon rather than a wedge which made it difficult to use(Or at least as difficult as putting lemon in avocado can be). Also, it was too expensive(above $ 10 is outrageous) My chai latte was too tea like, though they had warned me before hand which I paid no attention to so I can’t fault them for that. The service was a bit slow but not too bad for such a small place, I guess. Overall, I just expected more.

I’m a bit of a fan of Hop Scotch and Beans. Yes, it’s in a bit of an awkward location but who cares when the food is this good! They serve all day too. I’m not just talking all day breakfast. They have an all day grazing menu and an evening bar menu! Let’s start with the Baked Eggs Rancheros because I LOVEDIT! Soft yolks, plenty of beans, generous with the chorizo and with the addition of the creamy feta and the garlic yoghurt this bowl of spicy delight was a total winner in my book. Any lover of a savoury breakfast would be remiss to not give this breakfast a red hot go. Avo on toast with dukkah, grilled lime and goats cheese mousse was also a winner. I actually ended up heaping the mousse from this plate on to my baked eggs. The real surprise was the grapefruit bircher muesli with pineapple foam and seasonal fruits. Bircher Muesli doesn’t usually take my fancy but I would eat grapefruit bircher every day for the rest of my life. The pineapple foam changes everything! It was so unexpected but delicious that I just devoured it! While the coffee isn’t great it can definitely be forgiven. They have amazing frappes so go for one of those instead and give the caffeine a rest for the day. OH! And how could I forget their unusual muffin selection. Don’t be scared to try their raspberry and avocado muffin(yep. you read it right) because it’s great, even if you do spend twice the amount of time eating it because the green flecks keep catching you off guard.

Let me start with the bad things: awkward seating areas, thin slices of toast, chili powder randomly added to certain foods, not a loose menu in sight(you have to sit down and wait until a server hands you one). But to make up for it, you receive super-friendly but quick and efficient service, good coffee, and flavorful food. My boyfriend had their breakfast roll, which consists of(surprisingly) soft and sweet buns, poached eggs, bacon, hollandaise, and added chorizo; I had the avocado on sourdough toast, layered with feta mousse(yum) and(here is where it gets weird) chili powder. Despite the thin slices of sourdough and the chili powder, my food was quite filling. It looked pretty on the plate, too. My boyfriend loved his food and finished the last drop. Their coffees are on point and the«large» is reasonably sized — not one of those places that do bowls. Prices are within reason and breakfast menus served until 3pm. Definitely worth dropping by!

Went for breaky here before 8am on Saturday morning. Coffees were good, but the food was the standout. We had the special; pea, mint and haloumi fritters with poached eggs. The fritters were absolutely delicious, and the eggs were poached perfectly, with beautiful runny yolks. The avo on toast was also great, I really enjoyed the level of acidity from the lemon juice but my date thought it was a little overpowering. Service was great but there weren’t many customers at that time of the morning. We’ll definitely be back!
