Always a good go to brunswick venue. Love sittinf down after work for a late afternoon beer in the back beer garden there. It is relaxed and peaceful yet has an uplifting atmosphere. Sunday sessions are always good drawing a fun crowd in. During the week they also hold live and local bands, which sometimes require an extra fee but well worth it.

Does everyone else have a go-to date venue? When you’re planning that all-too-nerve-wracking first date, where do you suggest? I always, without fail, suggest The Brunswick Green. Why? + Sunday Sessions make great dates — easy, relaxing and non-committal — the Brunny Green in a nutshell. + It has a glorious courtyard often filled with cute dogs, so you’ll have plenty of people(and pets) surrounding you to ease the awkwardness. + The inside is filled with cosy couches and quirky lamps if you are looking for a more intimate space. + Everyone in the entire venue is CHILL. They don’t care who you are or what you’re doing. You and your date will feel totally at ease. + It’s on Sydney Road, so if your date goes well you’ve got a multitude of options to grab a quick bite down the street. So please, take some advice from your ol’ mate Jackie, next time you swipe right and you need a weekend date destination, your answer is The Brunswick Green.

I’m a big fan of Brunswick Green. I love the variety of spaces they host meaning you can have a different vibe and a different night out depending on whether you want the dark front bar, a sofa style lounge around, a booth area for a group or out the back in the garden. Beers are reasonably priced. Probably the only down side is the lack of loos. Friendly staff and good location. You must try it!

I could really make this place a regular hangout, if only I actually had the time to do so. Sure, I could come here after work everyday with my book and laptop and simply absorb the atmosphere, but sooner or later I’m going to have to go home. Anyway, this is one of those bars that I had regularly passed while travelling down Sydney Road but had never actually been inside, so one Sunday, when I knew I was going to be early for church, I decided to jump of the tram and pop in here for a quick beer. I must say that I am really glad that I did because I finally got to experience this really laid back bar is one awesome beer garden. It is this type of bar than really gives Sydney Road it’s character, and I’m really going to have to make the effort to come down here more often.

This pub is good for a couple of drinks with mates, defiantly a place for locals to go for catch ups. I like to drink outside in the beer garden, it’s a good atmosphere and a nice size, inside is a too bit dark/hipster for me but the beer garden is the way to go :) Good for something casual.

This is, as far as I can tell, the best bar in Brunswick. They don’t have that many beers on tap, but the ones they have are good. The bartenders and manager are friendly and helpful, the inside is cozy, and the outside is expansive and open. When you ask for a pint(is any other size really acceptable?) you get one and the bartenders know what they are doing. I always meet someone interesting at the Green and the music is always good. The food is surprisingly good and I highly recommend the calamari as a bar snack. The sign is somewhat hard to spot so keep an eye out for it. These people are doing it the right way. Try it out if you are up in Brunswick, I have yet to be disappointed.

Probably my favourite pub in Brunswick, if not Melbourne. The walls are bedecked with kitchey antiques like the home of the hip Auntie you never had. It reminds me of some of the East London bars accumulated debris, and it all adds to sense that this bar is your new home. Don’t skip the back garden bar, but really, you’re here for the smoky ambiance, and sweat drenched dive feel of the front bar. If you love the Tote you’ll love the Brunnie

For drinking, the Brunswick Green is one of my favourite pubs. Great kitschy atmosphere with a decent beer selection. Don’t plan on eating anything other than nibbles as the menu isn’t very impressive. Love the beer garden.

It doesn’t get overly busy, & overall, the venue is pretty huge. It’s a nice place to go to relax. Outside is a nice courtyard with deck space, pond, and some very clean toilets. Plenty of interesting things all the wall to look at. A good place to catch up with friends, or meet someone new on a weekend.

In a word, The Brunswick Green is comfortable. Traversing most of the requisite indie pub decorative staples, yet with its own individual flare, ‘The Green’(as it is affectionately known) comfortably straddles the line between high and lowbrow in the alcoholic venue stakes. Whether it’s a relaxed Sunday afternoon in the sunny beer garden, complete with a fish pond water feature and coloured/fairy lights in the evening time; or a celebratory gathering with a big group of friends amongst the eclectic lounge chairs and booths of the back room, the Green will cater to your mood. There’s also the odd live acoustic performance in the front room, styled like a tribute to the low-lit jazz bars of yesteryear. Many of these performances feature, appropriately enough, jazz music. There are some quality beers on tap, many more in the fridge and a changing roster of wines to satisfy fussy and unfussy clientele alike, along with your usual stash of spirits and liqueurs, though they don’t generally do cocktails unless it’s a very special occasion and you can provide them with the recipe. The better-than-average food covers a few basic pub finger food and tapas, such as dips and sausage rolls, with the option of some delightfully topping heavy pizza for those with a greater appetite. However, anyone expecting a traditional pub meal a la a chicken Parma ought to look elsewhere. One common complaint is the lack of eftpos and ATM on premises, although there’s Commonwealth, ANZ and NAB ATMs in the next block up, about a two minute walk away. Like any good pub, the Green can get a tad crowded from time to time, but generally plays host to a good ratio of punters to furniture, yet it shines brightest when on the quieter side. Overall, the Green is a good venue for a decent conversation with good company if there ever was one.

Love the beer garden, it’s fantastic with all those strung up lights, and I did enjoy a good brew out here one warm evening. I think maybe I’m just a bit too old for the Green though. It seemed like the entire beer garden was full of young student types and no one else. I have nothing against students or the youth, but I guess I felt a bit out of place or something. Poor me, right. It is one of the better pubs on this part of Sydney Road though. The food is better than other pubs nearby and reasonably priced. And I do love a room with a fireplace. They’ve done well to create cosiness inside for colder months, and a festive garden for balmy days.

The relatively hidden pub is a real great find on the strip. Some friends and I came here after a gig at Penny Black and i was surprised by how large the venue actually is. There’s a small front entrance but it leads into an awkward cosy inside but very large outdoor area. We came and the place was pretty quiet, we knocked back a few pints and enjoyed the quirky 1920’s B&W videos that showed crazy acrobatics, contortion and acting, it was mesmerising! We were a large group but the outdoor area accommodated us well and once the group began to dissipate we moved indoors and then finally(they kept hinting to us that they were closing) we left. Definitely a keeper!

You could easily walk past this great, quirky pub without realising it is even there, I think the locals like it this way. With a fabulous outside courtyard which is perfect for the summer and kitch 70’s Op Shop décor it is a funky place to share a bottle of wine or a few beers and a little nosh with friends. Enjoy live Jazz music every Thursday. Take note that unfortunately they have no eftpos or credit card facilities, there is an ATM machine down the road. Also be prepared to line up for the loos on busy nights!

The Brunswick Green is a quaint bar for an early evening, with many nights progressing into loud times and good times. The tragic picture frames adorning the walls of the inside areas are complemented by the furniture of equally mad qualities, with low lights and smooth tunes — Joe Cocker is a favourite in the arvos. But in the warmer months the place to be in the afternoon is the tranquil beer garden, complete with water feature and wooden tables. There’s an outer room between beer garden and bar that houses several couches for those feeling the cold wind, comfortable and inviting. Full bar, complete with local brews, and light meals available in the evenings. Look for the green, it’s sure to be a good one.

The Brunswick Green is the ideal place to have a quiet night out with friends. It is set on the trendy strip of Sydney Road’s cafes and bars, and has a brilliant atmosphere for a quality time. It’s not too loud but there’s a constant flow of cool tunes and cold beer, as well as a selection a light meals and snacks to see you through the evening. On a summer’s night, cruise through the dim interior until you reach the tranquil beer garden and chill out beneath the impressive lemon tree. The pub’s walls are strewn with interesting memorabilia and the pool table is still cheap by today’s standards.
